As a Filipino, Filipinos are not Pacific Islanders. Please guys. Pacific Islanders have already and continue to face so much erasure, we should not be claiming spaces we don't belong in. There's nothing wrong or shameful about being south east asian. Filipinos who do this low-key give me Shay Mitchell vibes 😭
@user-zz3qk6op3rАй бұрын
I think only Filipino-American or just any Filipino who grew up in the west mention Pacific Islanders because literally no one here in the Philippines think of ourselves other than Asian. 😅
@jessieliu1731Ай бұрын
Is being Pacific Islander a privilege? I had no idea lol to me it’s just a geographic or demographic definition
@Lewej1Ай бұрын
Exactly, haha. Just because we're dark-skinned, live in islands, and love the sea doesn't make us part of Polynesia, Micronesia, or Melanesia! Just a mere Google search would solve the misinformation lol. I guess plenty of Westerners just have completely no idea that Southeast Asia exist.

City Rich kid ka kasi. I believe that many Filipinos, especially those from urban areas, often overlook our strong connections to Pacific Islanders. It’s easy to miss these ties when living in cities, but if you visit the provinces-especially coastal areas-you'll see the similarities in culture, traditions, and lifestyle. The Philippines is part of the Austronesian language family, which includes languages spoken across a vast area from Madagascar in the west to the Pacific Islands in the east. This shared linguistic heritage points to a common ancestry.

I feel like the comment section is way too sensitive lol. Asian representation is there. But we should remember that despite all the similarities and stereotypes, each country’s culture can’t be completely simplified in 36 minutes. I do gotta say the morphsuit idea is genius.
