It's hard to describe how prevalent and important this band was, especially during this era, they put out some monumentally powerful albums and you heard it in cars and parties everywhere for many years. And the live concerts? Insane. Legends.

The Hellion/Electric Eye is More Relevant NOW, because we’re Livin’ it! 🎶”Up here in space I'm looking down on you My lasers trace Everything you do You think you've private lives Think nothing of the kind There is no true escape I'm watching all the time I'm made of metal My circuits gleam I am perpetual I keep the country clean I'm elected, electric spy I'm protected electric eye Always in focus You can't feel my stare I zoom into you But you don't know I'm there I take a pride in probing All your secret moves My tearless retina takes pictures that can prove I'm made of metal My circuits gleam I am perpetual I keep the country clean I'm elected, electric spy I'm protected electric eye Electric eye, in the sky Feel my stare, always there There's nothing you can do about it Develop and expose I feed upon your every thought And so my power grows I'm made of metal My circuits gleam I am perpetual I keep the country clean I'm elected, electric spy I'm protected electric eye I'm elected, electric spy I'm elected Protected Detective Electric eye”🎶

I remember when "You've Got Another Thing Comin'" dropped. I was a sophomore in high school and all the metal kids couldn't get enough of it as well as "Electric Eye". Good stuff for getting pumped up for a football game. Judas Priest defined heavy metal -- the grind, the twin guitar attack, screaming vocals in higher registers, plus the look -- the leather, the gauntlets, the biker aesthetics. They did all that first -- or at least with enough success to stake that claim.

I got the privilege to experience Judas Priest 7 times through the 70’s & 80’s and once in the 2000’s ! K.K. Downing & Glenn Tipton are the best 🎸🎸 combo live in my book ! Skynyrd’s Rossington & Gaines are a close second 🔥🎸❤️🤘🏼

I got to see Judas Priest, with Def Leppard opening, on this tour in the early 80s in Little Rock, Arkansas. It was a fantastic show with all original members. A band I would reccomend listening to is Trapeze. Their 1970 album Medusa is fire. They were a great 3 piece band, with a members going on to great groups. Singer/bass player to Deep Purple, guitarist to Thin Lizzy, and drummer to Judas Priest.

As for Acca Dacca, back in the day, late 70s into early 80s, hard rock and heavy metal probably sounded like the same thing, but then metal evolved and grew a ton of different branches in the 80s.

First my favorite, "The Ripper". "Some Heads Are Gonna Roll", "Screaming for Vengeance", "Victim of Changes", "Breaking the Law", "Electric Eye", "Heading Out to the Highway", "Painkiller", "Turbo Lover", "Metal Gods", "Living After Midnight", "Freewheel Burning", "Hell Bent for Leather", "Touch of Evil" & many more

Check out more Judas Priest, plenty of people discover them but don't dive too deep, it's another incredible musical rabbit-hole, they have a vast catalog that is rich, deep and surprisingly satisfying; they always have positive lyrics, even the darkest, most somber tracks all have a message of uplift and overcoming adversity, Judas Priest are all about depending on yourself first.

Priest are Metal for sure. Wasn't much heavier out there. Plus, there was a time in the late 80s/early 90s when Metal was a bit of a dirty word because the hairbands got out of control and Priest proudly called themselves Metal and flew the flag.

If you decide to jump into this catalog, you really need to start with their first albums to see how they progressed through the years. Their first albums are very blues oriented, but you can see them getting heavier and heavier. Then with the release of point of entry we see the beginnings of Heavy Metal.....Then British Steel put them on the radar of us here in the US........then with this album....Screaming for Vengeance.....they just exploded into the metal gods we all love today. Judas Priest never really rested on their laurels either.......Their song Freewheel Burning is one of the first "speed metal" songs you will hear.......stuff from Turbo has synthesizers in it, which at the time was a no no for most metal bands.

AC/DC never said they liked the tag 'heavy metal'... They preferred the term hard rock, or tough rock n' roll. A lot of bands don't have the intensity or attitude to be classified as 'heavy metal'; Judas Priest is the band that falls perfectly in that category 🤘🤘 Other bands that go in the 'hard rock' category w/ AC/DC include - Kiss, Thin Lizzy, Van Halen, Guns N' Roses, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Blue Oyster Cult, Dokken, Quiet Riot, The Cult, Ratt, Scorpions, Europe, Def Leppard, Warrant, Poison, Bad Company, Slaughter, Alice Cooper, Whitesnake, Winger, etc. For 'heavy metal'... u go w/ Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Accept, Saxon, Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Venom, Megadeth, Dio, Helloween, Gamma Ray, Suicidal Tendencies, Exodus, Pantera, Sepultura, Savatage, Fates Warning, Dream Theater, Death, Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Morbid Angel, Voivod, Slipknot, Lamb of God, Kreator, Arch Enemy, Napalm Death, etc.
