Love Street was a name Morrison gave the street he and his wife, Pam, lived on in Laurel Canyon, L.A. The city placed a marker there. The place where the creatures meet was the Canyon Country Store, a nearby hippie hangout in the late 60's.

Jims house has a placard out front not far away. The store is not afraid of letting you know Jim hung out there.

It’s worth owning the first six albums with Jim Morrison. Each and every song from the catalog is unique and quite an experience. They created an album called American Prayer-incorporating some music on the poetry that Jim Morrison recorded from 1969 to 1970, releasing it in 1978 and was nominated for a Grammy in 1979. This collection is absolutely gold.

They were one of only very few rock bands who never made a bad album.

The Doors movie was a make believe, Hollywood creation of Jim Morrison. Like all gifted, creative type, he had his moments.

One of my favorite Doors songs. It's absolutely gorgeous. And the whole Waiting For The Sun record is simply amazing.

Biz, even watching the entire Doors movie - which is worth it for Kilmer's performance alone - it doesn't give anywhere near a true depiction of the man. It really only shows the most destructive and self destructive stuff. From what I've read over the years, he had an intelligent, decent side to him too. The booze fucked the man up.

The Doors remained widely popular in California throughout the seventies. I remember hearing "Love Street" on the AM pop radio my parents listened to when I was a little kid as late as a few years after he died. I saw Oliver Stone's movie about The Doors in the theater when it came out. I think it best to remember that film as an entertainment product and not a documentary. [grin] My brother was internet friends with one of Jim Morrison's muses until she passed away a few years ago. Morrison's erudition introduced a generation of kids to books they might otherwise have overlooked by authors including Jack Kerouac, Aldous Huxley, James Frazer, and Sigmund Freud.

A band that consisted of a flamenco lead guitarist, a jazz drummer, a classically trained pianist who loved Chicago blues and Morrison a true poetic genius and one of his favorite singers was Frank Sinatra! Mix it all together and what you get is the fantastic, magnificent band The Doors!!! The Doors movie gave Morrison a bad look, he was a tremendously articulate, super intelligent man. He did have an alcohol problem that was so destructive and a crazy side but the man had tremendous depth and he without a doubt was a genius and not just musically. He was a voracious reader and could recite passages verbatim from 100s of books. Not just your regular rock star! Not by a long shot!!!

I read a book called "no one here gets out alive" a bio on Jim Morrison.. he was a military brat that absolutely loved pushing the envelope 😎

He was a talented poet who poured his life experiences good and bad in his music. Great reaction from a newbie to my generation. Please react to Touch Me from the Doors Album 1969

Love Street is awesome! Morrison Hotel is a great album. If you haven't done Moonlight Drive by the Doors, I recommend that tune!

I keep coming back to your doors takes b/c you have an astute ear. You nailed Morrison’s delivery and vibe singing wise. He was one of the first in rock, later bowie, who brought real theatric sensibilities to his voice projection and stage presence. As you say too he could croon like the 50s style singers like Sinatra and d Martin…. Many who knew him say the movie was a major mis characterization.. that he had a very chill and generous side to him.

I thought Val Kilmer was great in the role, but now that you mentioned it I remember my dad years ago saying he wasn't a fan of the movie because of how negative it made them appear. It's a Oliver stone movie.. He does his thing, even if it isn't completely non fiction. I'm sure Jim has his moments.. But many people didn't understand him, cause he was usually on acid, and In his own place The good old days lol..

Come on man, you can't believe a movie of all things...they are not known for truth and reality--lol! Jim had his problems but also great strengths and qualities. That movie did not show the WHOLE JIM.

Val Kilmer is a great actor, but that movie is a little exaggerated and over the top.
