From Halford's book: "I wrote 'No Surrender' about Glenn, the bravest bloke I know, willing to face down a debilitating neurological disorder to play the music that he loves, and to push himself to the very limits of his capabilities for the cause of heavy metal ... When I presented the band with those lyrics in the studio, I didn't say to Glenn that the song was about him, but I didn't need to. He just knew."

So what? Judas Priest have been around for like 40 years....there aren't any NEW metal bands doing anything interesting because there's no market for metal music in the US. Once all these legacy acts retire there will be absolutely nothing left. Halford can barely even move on stage.
@painkiller8639
@painkiller8639 6 жыл бұрын
ZachAttack84 No metal bands that you know off! A bunch of them are still around and doing stuff, but you just don't look for any. And I don't mean from other sub-genres, but just looking at the power metal scenery, there are still a lot of bands. Go and search instead of whining about it (and btw, the US isnt the only market, Europe is probably the biggest market of heavy metal with the Scandinavian countries and the UK, also Australia and Japan are too).

How the fuck does Halford still sound this flawless? Anything the years have stolen from his upper register he's stolen right back as grit, tone and sheer power. He doesn't sound the least bit tired, worn out or otherwise - he just sounds genuinely good as hell.

depends on your definition of Holy my friend. A knight is a well trained gentleman, they should act holy but bring down the wrath of their lord, I speak of medieval times though haha. My ancestors were the Germanic tribesmen fighting the Romans, as well as the Dane Vikings that came upon England, but I do appreciate the English knight, my family name carried on throughout england and started the Massachusetts bay colony. John Woodbury was his name. You can search it.

LYRICS: You know that life isn't set I lead the pack I ain't no pretender You give as good as you get We live and die cause there's no surrender Chasing a dream as I go higher Playing it mean, my heart's on fire Living my life, ain't no pretender Ready to fight with no surrender You know the way that I feel If you're with me you better hold on tighter I'm only keeping it real That's who I am, I'm just a non-stop fighter Chasing a dream as I go higher Playing it mean, my heart's on fire Living my life, ain't no pretender Ready to fight with no surrender Run out of road The end of the days Not for the weak Only the brave Chasing a dream as I go higher Playing it mean, my heart's on fire Living my life, ain't no pretender Ready to fight with no surrender I'm chasing a dream as I go higher I'm playing it mean, my heart's on fire I'm living my life, ain't no pretender Ready to fight with no surrender

New album is very good but Priest don't get better with age unless you really think Nostradamus is a great album and better than albums like Sad Wings, British Steel and Painkiller. Priest like most bands with 40 years+ in the business have had a "golden era" and been inconsistent since then. Let's be honest, the last 30 years haven't exactly been filled with greatness. They've had good, decent and bad albums.

2021 was the worst year of my life, my dad passed away (the curious thing was that Firepower was released ON HIS BIRTHDAY five years ago) and my mom was really overwhelmed about what I was doing. I was searching for a new home and thankfully I got a new home to live in. I played this song every single day until I reached my goal... Thank you Judas Priest for saving me once again,now with this song.

Over two years later, I still listen to Judas Priest's Firepower album very often. In my opinion it is a MASTERPIECE!!! Songs like No Surrender, Rising From Ruins, Spectre, Traitors Gate, and Lightning Strikes are modern day classics. Black Sabbath might be the band that started Heavy Metal music, but in my opinion Judas Priest is the band that perfected it.
