Exactly! My families been on section 8 for awhile. We only have a bedroom set from family members passing. Obviously when you don’t buy it right out the payment is a lot smaller but still! We couldn’t afford a payment for furniture period. People on our street are all on section 8 and everyone scrambles to just keep their light and water bill up to date. They needed his girlfriend's permission to allow him get his things. Did they get her permission to sell her stuff. He should pay something cause he lived there. according to the law in his state, he had no legal claims. He should take the judgement and chuck it up to experience.

They didn’t have to get her permission as long as they held on to the stuff for the legally allotted amount of time. After that, if she hasn’t made suitable arrangements from jail, they have every right to consider the property to be abandoned, at which point they can sell it, give it away, or even trash it.
