Her father was a man who stood strong in his role as a husband, father, and provider. Although he struggled with mental illness, he still valued his commitment to his family FIRST. He didn't allow himself to be a "weak link" in the family, or breakdown the family structure and/or support ...that kind of man deserves respect. Men like that SHOULD be respected in the community. Those were real men back then.

She had to work at it. Had to read, talk to people who are, call for help, and examine herself to discover if she even wanted to be. She also had to find "her way" of getting there. The paths are many, and they can be slow, scary, discouraging, lonely, and even painful, which might explain why so many haven't. It can be fun too, if you find something that motivates you enough. For some it's sports, for others it's art, for her it was practicing law.

Always loved her but for some reason i didnt expect her to be so real. I have chemical depression and Ive stayed away from meds at times because of the stigma especially being a single parent. Wow when she said she was swayed by her parent's relationship and got the opposite for her household, I really felt that because I did the same. My husband made a joke the other day that he doesn't make me angry because I'm the only one in my immediate family who has not stabbed their significant other. I wanted to laugh, but it's true.
