I tthought about becoming a lawyer - was urged to do it by a lawyer. I considered it and I knew if I did, I would NEVER be a defense lawyer only a prosecuter. I could never live with myself - if knowing the person was guilty for something awful - get them off. I'd rather have fought for victims and if I made an error - then hope it wouldn't be too detremental. (and there are appeals). BUT knowingly getting a monster off and for them repeat it again was something I couldn't live with.

That is done in case something happens in the future and one or more of the charges are dropped/reversed. For instance, if some mistake was made during the investigation or trial and the law required a charge to be dropped, they don't have to let her out of jail or have another trial because she still has those other charges she was convicted of.

Part of the reason is because if there were any law enacted in the future that makes life without parole illegal she won't get out.
