This is actually incredibly true as I own dogs and reptiles. Most well socialized dogs will not bite. But when absolutely necessary but animals are animals. And sometimes they just dont like something or someone. I always tell people. My animals are typically friendly. But I will never say they "wont bite." Pet at your own risk. Now for my reptiles I always say. "They havent bit yet but they are wild animals."

If a person gets bitten by an animal that has not had the vaccination..or it is a wild animal like a raccoon then that wild animal must be killed to be tested for rabies. They have to examine the brain. But a house pet can be tested without killing it..I think? But if a person is bitten by one of the aforementioned animals they need to go through a very painful series of shots to prevent them from contracting rabies. Does that make sense? LOL

Any dog can be dangerous if brought up incorrectly. Idk how he got away with owning a dog because you have to register them and they make sure you get your dogs rabies shots every 2 or 3 years depending on what option you choose. My dog has to get a tag renewal every year and she has the other shots as well. And If you can't pay for a shot that you pay every 2 years I don't think you should have a pet. (Even ferrets have to be registered and get rabies shots in my county)

None of my husbands friends liked going to his house cause she would bite their ankles and try to shred their socks. They're small but they're hard to grab and when you grab them they wiggle so much that you don't have a good grip. My sister has a pitbull. Hes just stupid and smells like shit. My mini pinscher has done more damage than him. The only damage he's done is he smells like poop 24/7. My neighbor has a bichon or a maltese. She apparently bites people and her owners let her roam around. The breed of a dog doesn't make one dangerous. Its their upbringing.

Wow, that incident could have gone MUCH worse. She could've lost an eye, gotten killed, or had a miscarriage! She should've sued him for more! It's very sad about his dog though. It's not Max's fault. Being an owner is similar to being a parent in the way that how your dog acts is usually a reflection of how you've raised and trained them. Owners like him get pit bulls because they feel like it makes them look masculine or some shit, but don't take the time to train their dogs and focus their energy and aggression in a controlled environment. Had trained him properly, Max would still be here, this woman wouldn't be scarred for life (physically and emotionally) and his family wouldn't be out of $3,000 dollars. I must say, good on his son for telling the truth. He must have known what his dad told him to say was not right, so he admitted that he was coached. There was a dog incident in our area last year.. Couple of pit bulls were roaming aroubd and a lady who was walking on a walking trail with her husky was attacked. The husky was killed and she was in critical status. Not all pitbulls are bad it is part of how the owner treats them as well as how they perceive another person's energy. I have 2 pitbulls & I'm also a dog trainer. The dog needed a better owner. Dont pet a dog incorrectly. Dont own a dog unless you train them. It could had been prevented. The only victim in the first case is the dog. I wish that people, who purchase a dog would inform themselves a little more about the kind of dog they get, and what his needs are. A Pit Bull is no Chihuahua, period. He requires more training and playtime, and should only be approached by people he knows. Defendant in the first case is the exact owner that should never ever own a dog much less that breed, they are the very reason this dog has a bad reputation. I've trained and worked with dogs for well over 25 years and no breed is born bad and that's truth. While certain breeds have certain traits the dog is bred for it can easily be controlled with a responsible owner, training and having the dog used to bring around both human and animal without wanting to attack. No human is responsible for a dog bite even if they go up to the dog and try to touch them. Facts are your dog should be under YOUR control and muzzled . daf the dog was destroyed for having the bad luck of belonging to an irresponsible human. this isn't a dog trying to play, when a dog attacks they always go for the face, throat or arms. She's lucky this was all she got out of this. I've seen horrible attacks and been through it myself. It can be bad, cosmetically and even death to both human and other animals. I feel horrible for this woman and even the dog. He didn't choose how he was taught or belonging to an idiot that was more into having a tough looking dog for bragging rights. He isn't an owner that gets a dog to be a safe companion and pet. When I was 5month pregnant me and my husband lived in an apartment we had a down stair lady with a dog that looks like 100lbs she couldn’t control me and my husband just came back from the store and we was going inside this lady dog came running at me my husband had to drop everything he had and run and slammed the door to keep it close the door was. As unfortunate as it may be, the ruling was 100% fair, and correct. It’s not for her to prove that he *didn’t* intend to sell a bad pump, it’s the plaintiff’s burden to prove that he did. She is simply there to arbitrate, and there was no evidence that the defendant knew that the pump was bad before he sold it, so her hands were tied in that respect. By defaults, sells on CraigsList and the like are as-is, unless otherwise stated or strongly implied, so for her to overlook that fact, and order the defendant to return the plaintiff’s money, would have been a legal overstep. Emotions don’t outweigh the law.

loggergal that's such an outlandish statement to make. Most pitbull owners are very good and loving owners that properly care and train their dogs. The only pitbull owners generally publicized are those that don't know how to raise and train an alpha breed or breed it to be mean (nit as s proper guard dog) and the dog attacks someone. The media doesn't publicize the general pitbull owner because it's not news worthy so all you see is the ignorant, stupid, inbreed douchebags who shouldn't own a goldfish let alone a pitbull. It gives the dogs an undeserving bad rap because of a few stupid owners. also, people in general should understand dogs and their body language before approaching strangers dogs or strays etc. This will prevent a lot of attacks as well. You should always safeguard yourself

There are plenty of cases of pit bulls being raised under all of the right conditions and they snap out of the blue, like just a simple thunderstorm rolling overhead, another true story told to me in person of someone who knew this owner who had raised this dog better than most dog owners raise their dogs. The breed in general is not worth the risk for most people to own. Having your own family member, a stranger or another person's pet or animal mauled or killed by one these dogs, is just not worth the risk, not when there are so many other breeds of dogs that do not have the inherited urge to kill in them. It's Russian Roulette with these types of dogs and I shouldn't have to safe guard myself against such an animal, but thanks to the ignorance of so many, you are correct, it is wise to do it. There's lots of ways to die, but there is no logical excuse to die from what some used to consider man's best friend. These breeds turn that sentiment upside down. I know there are people who haven't had problems and raised theirs without incidence but it still doesn't overshadow all of the horror stories that happen pretty much on a daily basis with these types of dogs, usually involving other people's pets and or children. I think it's disgusting.

This is the problem too, too many of you think you know what goes on in the mind of a dog and you don't, most can't figure out their own minds well enough to understand any animal's mind. They're an animal and obviously smarter than many of the people who own them. This is the sad truth today. Many dogs own their masters and not the other way around. It's just the sign of the times. So what I see going on is of no big surprise, other than I am glad I'm not brainwashed into this cult of propaganda that keeps our animal shelters full of pit bull types of dogs and easier for people with little to no means, to acquire them, explains seeing them for sale near the parking lots of Walmarts and such. It's like a drug sickness, it fuels people egos and gives them help with their superiority complexes in life, while to me it shows me just the opposite. They're weak in mind and spirit, so they expect their dogs to make up for it. & that's my opinion, like it or not, because I see it time and time again. Of course there may always be exceptions to the rules, but personally I haven't seen this in my lifetime yet. & some of these cases are people I know, doesn't make them bad people, just they aren't the brightest bulb in the box.

Dogs are dogs, any of them can bite. There are some breeds though that are of higher risk. I do believe when people realize this and do some research on statistics, most won't take the risk. It's just what are people willing to risk? I was around a German Shepherd who was raised properly, around people all of her life, sweetest dog ever, had a fancy for chasing pine cones, she was an awesome dog, was socially raised around a business and around people all of the time, eventually she snapped and out of the blue, decided to bite a man one day. Maybe it was a certain smell on him, a sudden move that caught her off guard, but no one expected it and the person did not deserve it to happen to them, but it did. Most pit bull owners would argue that the he did something to deserve it. So you understand the difference there? Probably not and this is another reason I can't stand pit bulls and most of their owners because they just don't realize that no matter how wonderful your dog may seem, they can turn on a dime, any of them and some, like pit bull breeds cause horrendous damage, beyond typical bites. They disfigure and maim people for life, their attacks are often deadly, if and when they do decide to snap. There's a difference and I suggest you study up on that.

There's so many incidents where these pit bull types of dogs come running out of nowhere to attack people who are minding their own business, walking down the street or even in their own yards before they're ambushed and so it has nothing to do with understanding dogs, not when the dogs have nothing better on their minds than inflicting harm on a victim. You have Internet, use it. Watch the cases of pit bull attacks right here on KZbin, you can spend hours watching them and this doesn't account for all of the cases that weren't caught on film. I lose track of how many people die a year from pit bull attacks, but at least one or two a month and a couple babies a year, children and the elderly.

+PreyForForgiveness- um again why would anyone get that close? Nothing against Pit bulls but more so out of respect for that animals space. If people (some not all) would not invade their space they wouldnt be given the bad rep they get leading to it being the dogs fault which isnt right. Dont get me wrong there are dogs out there that are out of control but in this case and I'm not saying its her fault she got bitten she shouldnt have gotten that close to a dog she doesnt know or more importantly didnt know her

+BMORE I have a Pitbull-Boxer and she is not friendly with strangers or strange dogs. So I always walk where there are no people. If someone is walking next to me, I move my dog to the other side just in case. She is a teddy bear with the family but doesn't trust strangers. I don't let ANYONE pet her, or get close to me when I walk her. At the end of the day they are animals!

I've raised 3 pit bulls they were all friendly and kind. They loved babies and knew not to jump on others. Never had any violent outbursts. It all matters on how you raise them.

No dogs are dangerous. They are only ever brought up the wrong way by bad owners. I have seen people turn biting, snarling dangerous dogs into loving family dogs. They treat them and teach them. They should never ever be put down
