Thanks again for this teaching Pastor Paul. Indeed, God's choice when it comes to leadership or His works are unquestionable. Book of Judges really pointed out that our background or who we are doesn't matter when it comes to God's work and calling. It is indeed a wise thing for one to think thoroughly about his vow to God, and when made it is important to fulfil it. God bless you Sir

So many unbelievers I have met struggle with Judges 11. I'll admit that I did too in Bible college. Outside of combining multiple commentaries, your sermon is the best explanation for why God gives us this recount and spiritual truth. Thank you!

“Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn.’ 34 But I say to you, Do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, 35 or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. What an interesting message. I have a question. Does it mean that if Jephtah had not vow God wouldn't have given him victory

Well the spirit on the Lord was already upon him and he was used as a deliver for Israel because of their act of repentance. So yes I believe the Lord would’ve delivered them with the vow as seen with the other judges and events within the Bible. A heart of repentance and trust in the Lord.

Is the place on the map labeled "Dan" Beersheba? It's Laish, right? Is Beersheba their godly inheritance instead?

Was he expecting a cow to first greet him? What kind of vow was that? Still can't understand that vow.

it was common for pagan worshipers to scrafice those they had loved to their gods. I think Jephthah didnt know God well enough to know better.
@Minetic5 ай бұрын
@@zeus7892agreed and the fact that this vow could’ve been amended if he knew the law is proof that he didn’t know the Lord well. I think some synchronism was involved with the pagan gods and the Lord within Israel. They went away from the Lord and followed other gods.

So, God said he wouldn't help all of Israel? All of Israel were worshiping the Baals and the Ashtaroth? If it was all of Israel, why is Dan the only tribe not called to minister in Revelation? Which tribes were practicing idolatry, several?

There must be a deep hidden symbol in these verse of the daughter.

We don’t know that Jephthah did in fact sacrifice his daughter. If he indeed knew the law then he would know he could redeem her for 30 shekels as it says in Leviticus 27:2-4. It’s probable that he did that but then gave her to serve at the door of the tabernacle as in Exodus 38:8. God abhorred human sacrifice and said the thought never even entered His mind.
