Any suggestions for ways to use a system like this without getting caught in a single leg when I try for Ouchi or other foot sweeps?

If leg grabs are legal you have to learn how to use use your collar grip to frame against them and keep them from closing the distance, and your sleeve grip to prevent them from getting a strong grip on a single leg or switching off to a double leg. Once you are sufficiently skilled at the basics, then you can learn how to counter their takedown attempts with sacrifice throws, uchi-mata / harai-goshi, etc. Compared to wrestling with no jacket, leg grabs with the gi jacket are a lot less effective, and a lot easier to counter. In Sambo and pre-2013 rules Judo -- two jacket rulesets that allow leg grabs -- leg grabs are not super high percentage. They are a threat, no doubt, but still most of the positive scores came from throws. (I will caveat that by noting that under Sambo and old Judo rules, you can defend leg grabs by turning to your belly to avoid a score, which would not work under IBJJF or wrestling rules. But even without this rule, it is still relatively easy to defend leg grabs -- certainly easier than it is in wrestling.)

@@jsl8461 Thanks! Yeah, good news is I have enough experience to neutralize it and make some attempts for uchi mata (need to practice my uchi mata more in general though). I think framing on the lapel will be really helpful and give me a sense of when they drop their weight for the grab. I've also been drilling my sumi gaeshi as well :)
