Can you imagine sitting that close to her and having her sing directly to you? I would have died on the spot. She was just pure heart and soul. You’d have to have a heart of stone not to be moved by her. Such a perfect reaction. ❤

Her technical skill is out of this world. But what makes her special is th sadness you hear in her voice every time she sings that gets me every time. I'd like to see you react to Maria Callas

Judy is so brilliant because she sings from her gut… And from her heart. I’m stunned every time I listen to her sing…

Thank you for posting your reaction to this wonderful performance. I’ve been reading a lot about Judy’s television show recently - so fascinating. My favorite episode is her Christmas show, where her children Liza, Lorna, and Joe take part too. Subscribed!

I love your considered response to Judy Garland. Miss Garland's talents are almost beyond languaging- as they are so mysterious ..... yet your appreciation and reverence for this kind of talent is quite touching. I find you this way with other artist as well. Yours is one of the best reaction channels on You Tube....

I love your comment. I feel the same, that her talent is mysterious and beyond words. It's mystic and I'm not exactly religious but I would call it divine. Like she was born to grant humans this feeling of awe and encompassing warmth and empathy for the human experience.

Her transcendent singing may have ultimately hurt her, taking away from her sublime acting skills.

Yes in theory I believe the studios knew her singing could bring in great revenue which put her organic acting chops on the back burner, because she wasn't an actress first, she was a young singing prodigy at the age of 12. MGM could capitalize off "The Little Girl With The Great Big Voice" which set her apart from all her MGM glamorous contempories. So yeah her singing did hurt her for the need to be taken seriously as an Serious Actress. Vincent Minnelli said she could of been the greatest among the greats (Him) naming if given the chance and the roles she would of surpass Garbo in acting skills.

Sometimes people don’t know that Judy Garland had huge ambition and worked very hard every day to become a great star. She knew what she wanted, and she went after it. Fortunately, for us, she succeeded, but unfortunately it came at a huge cost to her personal life.

Watching this again months later, I am reminded of how she was trained to sing 18 inches away from her costar and how that adds so much to the intimacy of her delivery. She could make the camera - and therefore US- her intimate companion.
