You need to check out her song, "You Made Me Love You" or also called "A Letter to Mr. Gable". She was sixteen, it is before "Wizard of Oz">

My favorite Judy Garland movie is "Summer Stock". Gene Kelly is in it so there some serious dancing involved with the singing. I watched on TV as a kid but for some reason it made an impression on me.

She's also great in the Easter Parade, with Fred Astaire.

Me to. It was 1968 and a clip of Judy singing Get Happy was given to advertise the showing that night. I was only 11 yrs old and I watched the film and was hooked. And Summert Stock is my favourite film of Judys

Harri, thank you so much for featuring a great song from my favorite film, "Meet Me in St. Louis." I first saw it at age 13 in 1975, and it's been my favorite movie ever since. I love Judy Garland and have read several biographies of her.

Written by Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane for the musical "Meet Me in St. Louis." Another notable song from that film was their "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." They had difficulty coming up with lyrics for "The Trolley Song" and went into a public library to read up on trolley cars. There, in a caption under an illustration, they found the line: "Clang, clang, clang went the trolley." The song wrote itself after that. Thanks Stephen and Harri.

Always great to listen to Judy Garland. She appeared in a lot of movies. "The Trolley Song" is from the 1944 musical film " Meet Me In St. Louis". Great movie! My husband & I are big fans of old movies especially musicals.

A memorable song from the movie musical. Pure nostalgia and escapism you are correct. Have YOURSELF A MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS written for the film has become ##1 for me . That will always be in my heart.

She looks like a star because she is more noticeable in this scene on purpose - she's the only not wearing a hat and her hair is down, all to focus attention on her in this scene visually.

Ah the lyrics 😊 Real words, real sentiments!! Those Hollywood musicals had loads of great songs. Here's one with Judy and Fred Astaire from Easter Parade (1948) "A Couple of Swells" kzbin.info/www/bejne/eaC5aHukaa9keNU written by the great Irving Berlin

I think it was no mistake that Judy was the only one without a hat. Such a simple thing as well as the framing by the listeners made her visually the focal point. Being one of the greats of singing helps too...lol!

My mum loved Judy but she was also aware of her tragic life, 😞 she, like Marilyn Monroe was used horrifically by "the big boys" in Hollywood...😞 Judy was absolutely note perfect bless her but the role that shot her to stardom was actually intended for the mega child star of the day, Shirley Temple, another "victim" of Hollywood whose parents, who by now could smell the stench of corruption within the industry declined the role of Dorothy leaving the other 3 unscrupulous bstrds, Metro Goldwyn and Mayer scrambling for a replacement with the part going to an unknown older actress..Judy, DYK her parents gave her speed to get her through filming because the greedy bstrds wanted it done pronto.. R.I.P. Judy, you where appreciated lass.
