Well, I wasn't even going to watch this vid, because you can't tell me how to cook a turkey!! After all, I've been roasting turkeys all my life. You can't improve the process!! Well, Miss Lori you have slapped me in the face, called me a chicken and taught me something new. I love it! This is how I'm going to cook my turkey from now on. To heck with the Norman Rockwell image of putting the whole turkey on the table and carving! It is too stressful. I love this, the only issue I have with this new approach is...WHY, did I not think of this years ago!!? Thank you for this new idea and method!!

I have cut up lots of chickens in my life but to be honest I had never transferred cutting up chickens to cutting up a Turkey. It is positively brilliant to cut up a Turkey then cook it for any holiday. Thank you for taking the time to share your ideas, family, and daily life with everyone.

I was so excited and proud of my Thanksgiving Dinner. I cooked the whole meal on a wood cook stove. I did a video for my channel, so my kids can, hopefully, learn from it. They were unable to join me here, in Tennessee. The turkey turned out so juicy and tender. I overcooked my rolls and that was my only thing that I didn't get right in the wood cook stove oven. I can't wait to try this way of cooking a turkey. Thanks Mrs. Lori, for sharing your talent with us.

I did my first turkey this way at Thanksgiving and it was so good but I did it again today and it was a HUGE hit! Everyone who "hates" white meat" gobbled it up! Some right off of the cutting board. I really amped up the herb butter, adding salt and pepper and tons of fresh herbs. You could taste it through out. I have to admit though, I totally forgot to brine it this time and it was still so amazing! I've never had over half a 16# bird gone after dinner but I did today. You keep teaching Miss Lori, cause I'm staying tuned. Thanks and Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year to you all.

This is a great way to prepare turkey. For the past 30 years, I have cooked my turkey overnight and it always comes out juicy and tender. While preparing your turkey with your desired spices, preheat the oven to 500 degrees F. While the oven is heating, place onion, carrots, and celery in the bottom of the turkey roasting pan and add a couple of inches of water to the roaster. Place a roasting rack in the roaster and place the turkey on the rack. Place the roaster in the preheated 500 degree oven, shut the oven door and DO NOT open the oven for 6-8 hours. I put my turkey in the oven around 10:00 pm and it stays in the oven overnight. I cannot emphasize enough DO NOT OPEN OVEN during the cooking process. In the morning, the turkey is fully cooked and the oven is free for other dishes. One cannot believe how moist and juicy the turkey is and it is browned perfectly. Your recipe looks great. I think I will volunteer to bring the turkey at Thanksgiving and use your recipe. YUM YUM

I learned a few years ago about baking a whole turkey in a counter top roaster in less than two hours and it is perfect. The roaster is perfect and this year I am using a bag which hold the turkey so the roaster don't get so dirty. While the turkey is baking there I am using the Instant Pot I have to cook my sides in, and use my oven to make the dressing, and cook the ham in. I will use a dry brine on the turkey and make my boiled eggs for my salad in the Instant Pot also. My dressing is made from cornbread which I cook in the oven and use chicken to make it.

I really really like this method of baking turkey . It is quick and gives you control over how long you cook dark meat versus white meat - no dry overcooked meat just to get the dark meat cooked. Also love that it goes to the table already cut up - no need for a carving! This will be my way of baking and serving turkey from now on. Thank so much for sharing! Best wishes to you and your family.

This is AWESOME!! I can't wait to try it. I normally have turkey for Thanksgiving, and ham for Christmas (never both together), and I think I would still cook the whole turkey for the holiday. However, that the only time of the year I'm guaranteed to have turkey (home roasted with dressing) is at Thanksgiving, and I've been saying for years how that isn't nearly enough. Yet, I only want to do the work of roasting a turkey in the traditional way (which I love, work and all) once a year. So, I can see me doing this recipe a few times throughout the year. Thanks so much, Lori, for sharing this with us. It's definitely a winner!!

Thank you Miss Lori, thank you! I will never cook another turkey the old way again. 1 hour and 10 mins is all it took for a 13 LB turkey. I followed your directions to a tee including making my broth in the slow cooker over night. I used the back, neck and wing tips and got almost 2 quarts of broth. I don't eat giblets but fixed those separately for the cat. I had enough broth and pan drippings for my stuffing and more then enough gravy. I'm telling everyone to watch this episode before roasting their turkey. Thank you again and Happy Thanksgiving to you and Mr. Brown and your family!

Mrs. Lori, I really agree with you. We went to our daughter’s house for Thanksgiving. I almost had a heart attack when I got there and she had not started to cook the turkey. She had it cut up like you did yours and said mom it want take that long. It was 20 lb. and it only took an hour and 40 mins. to cook. She did a dry brine for 20 or more hrs. It was so delicious. Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. I ate the breast. I could not believe it!! I’m now a true believer of this cooking method. Thank you for always encouraging us to try new methods. That looks delicious! I think I will try one this way this year. The way I normally do is to cook my turkey ALL NIGHT. Cook him low and slow. I put it in a large roaster inside a cooking bag before I go to bed. I add about a quart of water and. A Cut up onion , and whatever seasoning I want in the bag with it. Then put several holes in the top of the bag and put it into a low oven @ 250*. Put the bird in the oven before going to bed, at about ten. It will cook while you sleep. It will be falling off the bone tender and beautifully browned. You wake up to your house smelling soooo good. We always just basically pull the meat off the bone for dark meat and slice up the breast. I will usually drizzle some of the juice over the cut up meat and cover it with foil until time to eat. Then you have over a quart of juice to use in your gravy. It’s wonderful.

I have never thought of using a brine on a turkey 🦃 or a chicken 🐔. A 12 pound turkey is just the right size for us. I WILL MOST DEFINITELY be cutting my turkey up. I grow my own herbs. Rosemary, basil and thyme are my favorites. This year I learned that the seed pods off of cilantro is called coriander. I let some cilantro go to seed this summer to check this out. Low and behold I now have coriander!

We raised Midget White Turkeys and it was nice to have 8-12 lb turkeys. I sectioned all of them and just take out what we need. Pressure cooked all the carcasses and canned bone broth/stock. We brine with salt & sugar and it's perfect tasting every time. For Thanksgiving I make turkey rolls made from the breasts and wrap them with bacon. It's nice not having to fuss with a carcass after a long day. Happy Thanksgiving!

My deconstructed turkey turned out fantastic in my Air Fryer (in batches). And the broth was superb in the slow cooker. I am 72 (in 8 days) and have only used a slow cooker a handful of times in my life, of which I am remorseful for now since the broth turned out so wonderful!! But I have to say, I will never try to cut up a turkey again at home. It felt like I was trying to cut up a cow!! (chickens are a breeze) I will have the store butcher deconstruct it for me next time and of course include the back, etc for my broth. Thank you again for a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner for 2020. This is a very novel and common sense way of cooking moist turkey that I never would have thought of myself and is something definitely worth trying at some point (I wrote the recipe down), but I think that I will do turkey the way I like, which is by using the whole bird cooked inside a Reynolds cooking bag, for presentation. He thought for sure I was going to start a fire. But when it came out and he cut into it. He was amazed how juicy it came out. Now that's all he wants the turkey to be made..

My mother always skinned the chicken before frying. I loved the skin like you, and sometimes she would let me fry me a piece of skin - yum! Then she made cream gravy.

I have so much celery I'm going to have to make cream of celery soup. I'd toss it up in the air if you could catch it. My turkey is a little bigger than that, but now that my sons aren't growing I get smaller turkeys. Easy is more and more important as the years go by. Thank you for your ideas. I have tried "spatchcocked" before and it was better than a big bird for 4 hours. It is the same principal, the dark meat to the out side and the light to the middle, but you couldn't remove the overcooked part, like you can with your method.

I've never brined anything before, so I will need to try this recipe of yours. It looks delicious! We often do a ham and a turkey; turkey not as popular in our family, however, this could be a game changer! Thank you for your videos. Love the chit-chat! Especially love what and Who you stand for. God richly bless you and your family! ❤️🙏 BC, Canada🇨🇦

Lori, I have cooked my turkey cut up and brined for many years. Separating the legs from the carcass does make it cook faster. I have cooked a large 20lb. bird in two hours. A beautiful method as far as I am concerned. Your turkey looks delicious! and juicy. I think you are hooked as I was the first time I tried this method.

Miss Lori, I haven't tried the brine but what I do for everyday is put 2 turkey breast (split) in the slow cooker just seasoned and let it cook all day. That way we get a little turkey dinner anytime.I always make mashed potatoes/gravy and some green beans. I use the Instapot for my potatoes so everything is pretty quick in the end. It is a little middle of the week sweet dinner anytime of the year. I am the only one that likes dressing so save that for Thanksgiving and I make giblet dressing too. I like your idea of making you own broth and I think I will incorporate that into my Thanksgiving dinner too. Have a good week:)

I love your cooking method on this turkey. I also love your $3 flea market platter! I'm not in charge of making the turkey for Thanksgiving but it takes so looong to carve it, all the food is cold. When we were kids, the meal stayed on the stovetop and we cut off what part of the bird we wanted. That way, our food wasn't cold . My sister married an Italian who loves to cook and keeps his family traditions. I'm getting a small turkey when they get cheap for my freezer and will get my butcher to cut it up for me.

this way not only saves time....but space in the oven...and no real messes like standing for an hr deboning after its been attacked and another good thing ppl can take a whole leg/ thigh/ wing for their plate ..soo much easier.. and you can pile up the pieces per platter ..i think even king Henry the 8th would approve of this ;];];] GREAT JOB LORI ;];];];] the only thing ppl may be disappointed in.. the whole bird presentation..but this way is soo much easier quicker and cleanup is a breeze!!!!
