Yeah but there can be defensive holding that's the only thing that can be called within 5 yd you can knock the receiver on his ass as long as you don't grab his jersey while you're doing it LOL I don't understand why unimportant plays you don't get a really fast defensive end and a cornerback on like somebody like Tyreek Hill or Xavier Worthy on the last play of the game and literally just blast them to the ground with your forearms rather than just brushing two guys you know and sending back eight it seems like it's still never works

The play you said Knox should have been called for PI, during the game Romo explained it was legal because the contact happened within a yard of the line of scrimmage.

Its because we lost 3 more crucial defensive players for the season earlier in that game and allen i think scored on 8 out of their 10 drives and if we punted it the bills easily couldve had 6 minutes killed on the time

Every team does pick routes. They're completely legal within 1 yard of the line of scrimmage. If it happened any further down the field they would have called OPI.

I understand people's frustration with pick plays in the NFL, but on that 4th and 2 play, you can block within a yard of the line of the line of scrimmage. Doesn't matter if it's a pass or run play. You can just smack the guy within one yard. To change that would be ridiculous. Because then DBs wouldn't be able to hit the receivers off the line.

8:50 it is a screen/pick whatever but you're allowed to do them within 1 yard of the LOS as long as the ball isn't in the air yet. they also give grace on "contact" within 5 yards of the line for both sides (hand fighting/whatever) which means most picks where they cross their routes in an attempt to shed a defender are run within 5 yards of the line, they know more grace will be given on that type of contact there, and many times it can be made to look like natural collisions in the chaos of fighting through press coverage.
