Juki DDL-8700H Change Feed Set

We use Wiha screw drivers. Precision Slotted 4.0 (5/32") x 150mm or SoftFinish® Slotted Driver 4.0 x 150mm.

For some weird reason, Wawak sewing supplies keeps sending me the WRONG feed dog. They now sent one that is literally 3/4 of an inch! Last time they sent the wrong needles. Won't be ordering from them anymore.😆

i am using juki 8700 to sew some soft leathers.....but when ever i sew it curve the leather i am sewing......i dont know whether it is the feed dog or i should lower the teeth

I was wondering are you able to use smaller needles than recommended such as a size #10 or a size #12 with the juki ddl-8700H??

The hook would have to moved closer to the needle to use 10 or 12. Then you risk breaking larger needles and damaging the hook.

Whats the difference between the sizes of the feed dogs? Ive seen machines with smaller ones and the ones on my machine are much bigger. Does this have an impact as well when you work with lighter materials?

yes each feed dog has a specific plate for it. and bigger feed dogs are made for heavier fabrics such as leather and vinyl canvas etc. while the smaller feed dogs are more for lighter to medium weight fabrics like tulle satin cotton . because the heavier feed dogs can pull on your fabric

Hey there, just a quick question.. what is that grey knob on the top of the machine for? That knob above where it says juki on the head, not the presser foot lever at the back.

That thumb screw is to adjust the pressure on the presser foot.

It's the stitch length. You press down on the reverse lever before turning it. I know this is 4 years too late but maybe someone else will see it.

Do you have to take out the machine head out of the bed to make these adjustments or can you just tilt the head back?

You can make these adjustments with the head tilted back. No need to remove the head from the table.

Hey Steve, does this method work on a Juki ddl 8700? And would this be the method to make the machine do free motion quilting with a darning foot?

It could. The screw at 3:24 of the video controls the height of the feed dog. You could loosen the screw and drop the feed dog and then do free motion quilting. Just make sure you know how to put it back.

You can adjust the feed dog the same way on the DDL-8700. I would remove the feed dog and use a darning throat plate instead of dropping the feed dog.
