Steve, I think I understand what you're saying in the comparison, and that swapping all of the parts between the two would be cost and time prohibitive, but in your opinion, do you think if while using the 8700 to sew multiple layers of a thick material such as jeans, or light weight canvas, would it be of a benefit to swap out the plates and feed dogs even though I would be limited by the needle/thread size of the 16 or 18. Would doing this help in sewing in these situations? Thank you!

Hi, can u answer couple of question about 8700 please? What's the heaviest fabric I can use? I dont know what "medium" means, is 9 ounces okay? If I use Serv 7 type needle and teflon foot can I go for heavier fabric or problem is not in the needle? Also, is there any meaning if needle is gold color or no?

I’d like the 8700 with the medium set up!

Can you change out the extra H parts into the standard 8700 series ? ( The 21 H parts not just the feed dog and pressure plate )

I went back to the Juki site and they screwed up with the 8700h PDF opening to a JUki DDL 8700L...wow, I'm glad I'm not selling sewing machines. So what machine has a 7mm stitch?

I have another question (lol I think I’ve asked a million questions so far on you 8700 video series) but does the 8700 & 8700H use the same bobbin case or are they different? Thank you so much for these videos. They have literally SAVED me.... Also you said 135x5 or 135x7 for needle size, was that either one or are they the same? I’m so sorry. I ordered DBX1 bc a website said that’s what it uses but I don’t want to try to use them if they won’t work. I rather make sure I get what my machine needs.
@Sewinggold
@Sewinggold 4 жыл бұрын
They take the same bobbin case. The needle class or part numbers, 135x5, 135x7, DPx5 are all the same needle. DBx1 or 16x257 are for the DDL-8700, not the DDL-8700H. The needles are the same length, but the DBx1 needle's shank is smaller than the DPx5, and will not fit flush inside the DDL-8700H needle bar.

@@Sewinggold Thank you so much. I was wondering about the needle bc Juki’s website saying the 8700 & 8700H uses the DBX1 but I’ve seen you say it uses DPX5 and I seen it on another forum. Then I seen a video that says it can use either one. I don’t want to use the wrong needle & have my machine break. I really appreciate all your help. You’ve really been a life saver with your videos.

@@Sewinggold I’m so sorry for keep asking so many questions but I finally got my machine to where I can sew but when I go to back stitch, it’s like the thread is getting caught and looping around and it looks like 3 strings are coming up from the bobbin case (one the bobbin string & the other is a strings that’s about 6in with both ends coming out of the plate, like it’s being looped around something). I’ve looked all day (&half of last night) on what it could be and how to fix it but I can’t find anything. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Hi, i'm confused, in the army there are many machines of the none H type but still army stitching deserves heavy duty machine to handle the heavy corduras fabrics with many layers and webbings and leather. Why would you need more than this if it can handle it great?

Can you use the 8700H for lightweight fabric too? And are the parts interchangeable? Could you swap the feed dogs? And can you use smaller needles like the 8700?
@Sewinggold
@Sewinggold 5 жыл бұрын
Changing all the parts between the two machines would be difficult and time consuming. You can swap feed dogs, but would need to make an adjustment too. If you change the feed dog, you would need to change the plate too. The 8700H uses size 16 to 23 needles. You cannot use a smaller needle unless you retime the machine.

Hi ! What are the needles reference for the juki DDL-8700 for medium and heavy fabric ? And do toi know the difference with the Juki DDL-8700-7 ? Thank you very much for your video ! :)
@Sewinggold
@Sewinggold 5 жыл бұрын
Needles for the DDL-8700 are DBx1 / 16x257. Size 9 to 18 is a good range. The DDL-8700-7 takes DBx1 / 16x257 size 9 to 18 too. The DDL-8700H uses a DPx5 / 135x5 needle, sizes 16 to 22.
@Sewinggold
@Sewinggold 5 жыл бұрын
16x257 or DBx1 is the needle class. For medium fabric, size 12 and 14. For heavy fabric, use 16 and 18. Same for the DDL-8700-7.

How can i tell if the machine is a walking foot ?

The easiest way is to look at the feet. It will have an inside and outside foot if it is a walking foot. You can also email me if you have a model you are curious about.

The Juki DDL 8700 is a 5mm stitch machine. On the Juki site you can download the Juki DDL 8700H PDF and you will see it says it's a 7mm stitch...but you don't mention this big difference...are your machines authentic Juki DDL 8700H machines with 7mm stitch?
@Sewinggold
@Sewinggold 6 жыл бұрын
This video went over the different parts, not the actual specs. I'm not quite clear on why you would ask if my machines are authentic. All of my Juki machines come from Juki distributors in the USA. I hope that answers your questions. Thanks for the comment.
