Tate was a well schooled fighter and smooth boxer with good movement and power. This as an impressive showing against a legendary KO artist like Jackson.

What a chin and what a brave performance from Thomas Tate.
@ExperienceEric2 жыл бұрын
He was smart to go down and take the 8 count when hit. Jackson was a killer finisher. His strategy was perfect, just take a knee and get Jackson off of you long enough to get it together. Julian always finished guys off within seconds of landing a big blow, when you get hit hard just take a knee before he lands the finisher. Then go back to boxing and moving. Tate had the chin, the speed and the boxing skill to survive the early rounds and make it a fight. He really made a name for himself here.

@geoffn549 жыл бұрын
Not many Jackson fights went the distance and you can see Julian is past his best here. McClellan took advantage the next year, and it's difficult to believe Jackson won the world title again 3 years later. Fighting southpaw was just the exhaustion showing I reckon...

@geoffn543 жыл бұрын
@@georgegreig8054 Don't agree George. McClellan was at the top of his game. He was being compared to Mike Tyson! Jackson had been world champion for 6 years already, and was past his best. And McClellan was much bigger than Benn and look how that ended up!
@georgegreig80543 жыл бұрын
@@geoffn54 I think the result would be the same anytime Jackson and McLellan fought. Benn was never at light-middleweight. He was a proper middleweight that made the jump up to Super-middleweight. I thought McLellan would murder Benn at the time but in retrospect I think McLellan was over-hyped. If you look at his Boxrec there isn't many decent opponents. He fought Mugabe but Mugabe was done by then.

What a difference it can make going up just 6 pounds in weight.Jackson with out question is thee hardest 154 pound puncher of all time & P4P right up there with Hearns.As soon as he moved out of 154 & up to 160 he still had power how ever when he fought the big middle weights like Gerald McClellan his punching didn't help.
@Crussman4995 жыл бұрын
It did help. G Man might have won those two fights, but Jackson scrambled Gerald's brains.

@@Crussman499 I agree.G man blinking his eye's started in his second fight with Jackson & when he got hit in 4th round by Benn his Blinking his eye's started up again & that should have been a red flag to the ring doctor,ref & his trainer that something was wrong.I always believed had he kept Steward as his trainer Steward would have picked up on it & stopped the fight. There is no question that Hearns & Jackson were one punch knock out artist but both seem to tire & lose when the person they are fighting are able to take their best shots.I think Hearns was the better of the 2 as Hearns with out question fought the better opponents & had better boxing skills.Jackson had poor management threw out his career.

@@cyrillayman166 spot on. Plus Hearns being the bigger lankier man allowed him to use his gifts more. Imagine if Terry Norris stuck to just boxing. Could have been up there with RJJ.

@Crussman4995 жыл бұрын
@@cyrillayman166 he was literally a smaller version of RJJ. Norris fell in love with his power and didn't stick with the boxing. He had it all but lowered himself to brawling. But for all time, Jones is much higher up. And if he had stayed at Middleweight, he would've had a much longer career.
