@ Robert Coates_ *"Why is this man so underrated/underappreciated?"* Because Yoko wanted everybody to IGNORE Julian's talents, *(remarkable singer, songwriter, musician like his dad John, and role model Paul)* who didn't have Lennon millions to back him, or buy him a career, *(Making a point, not throwing shade.)* Julian had only a hunger to make something of himself. He did and became a break out star *(In his own right)* with a #1 hit in his debut, top 2, 5, 10s that followed, cheerful praise from delighted music critics *(looking for the return of John Lennon through his son)* all which seem to bother the shit out of jealous Yoko, who wanted that kind of success, praise and yearning for "the return of Lennon" bestowed on HER son, when Sean became old enough for her to launch his official debut, not for John's "disposable" firstborn. So reportedly, she worked behind the scenes to thwart, and sabotage Julian's music career, using "reverse" payola (For DJs, radio station managers, record execs, NOT to play or promote Julian's music) and using HER ownership of (permission to use for tributes) John's post Beatles music, image, likeness, memory and legacy, *as his widow who must be obeyed,* to enforce her wish and stall Julian's music career. Just mean and selfish is she.

if John had a "heart of gold" he wouldn't have wrote all those masterpieces. His mother and daddy issues plus the drug use contributed to all the great songs we love today. Also I love Julian but his songwriting is in no way comparable to John's. He writes some good tunes but they are not timeless and poetic masterpieces. He could never write a "Strawberry Fields" or an "Across The Universe" or a "Tomorrow Never Knows". Again, I'm not trashing Julian, but there will only be ONE John Lennon.

Anyone that could write a song like "In My Life" also had a heart of gold. It may have been buried under a lot of nasty stuff, but it was there all along. No, what slowed down and stalled Julian's successful debut and promising music career, was his stepmother Yoko. Lofty praise for Julian's #1 smash hit debut, 'Much Too Late For Goodbyes', followed by Top 5 and Top 10 positions for proceeding singles, praise from the rock music critics lauding Julian's talent; like "Terrific singer, songwriter, musician, like his dad!". But the "rave" that made Yoko apoplectic was: *"Looks like, sounds like, possibly His Generation's John Lennon!"* Of course that was yet to be determined, and Julian wanted his own musical identity, not a musical "twinship" with his father. No matter, because Yoko thought "Oh HELL No! His Generation's John Lennon!", belonged to Sean alone, when he was old enough for his official musical debut, so she sprung into action using reverse payola for DJs, radio station mgrs, and record label execs to NOT play or promote, Julian's music, using HER ownership of John's post Beatles music, image, likeness, granting or denying requests for use for John Lennon tributes to enforce her wishes. Plus, they had to frame previous positive praise for Julian as a premature fluke, and paint Julian as mediocre musical talent, nowhere near his father's level which is not fair or true. Underrated, Julian is a skilled musician on multiple instruments his songwriting strong. He is a blessing and a credit to the Lennon name. But his name isn't Sean, so his career was sabotage by his vindictive and insane stepmother Yoko. And so her campaign to sabotage Julian's early success and promising career worked. Exact same successful campaign she and John used in a 1970 Rolling Stone interview that painted McCartney as "lesser" than Lennon, and Lennon-Ono as EQUAL in creative talent and accomplishment, as Lennon-McCartney which is mind boggling! (And wrong!) Yoko is a very effective PR spin doctor. Anyway, THAT is why Julian's career slowed, and his mainstream stardom started to dim.

absolutely enjoyable. I have watched it 40 or 50 times. What great satire of the Beatles. Home Run Julian.

John would have been Proud to see his son remember him like this inheritance of musical talent

John Lennon didn't give two shits about Julian. He was an absent father. Poor kid. Lennon is my least favorite Beatle.

The Butlers . Love it. Almost as good as the Rutles and their tribute band The Beatles.

Can people please stop slagging John off. We love john for his music. His views on other stuff was his stuff what he did was his own stuff and us as people who didnt know him have no right to judge him. Also this is a song by Julian. Don’t use this as a chance to have a go at John. We’re coz of Julian

Well said. John had many great qualities, and was evolving as a man, at the time of his assassination, including mending things with Julian. People need to back the fuck off of John. Hadn't he suffered enough!!

The problem with John is that he purposely aired his personal life. Because he presented himself and Yoko to be the perfect couple and as leaders in art and politics. Slamming personal friends and colleagues that didn't meet thier standard. He is more vulnerable than other celebrities to calls of hypocrisy. As when you scrutinise him his image falls apart. He is definitely not amoung the worst celebrities of the 60/70s but Julian is justified in his fighting back against the saint image.

Julian, Great job on this. Love your voice. And your humor: thankfully, not subtle. Just satirical and hilarious. Way to go. Love it. Wish you sang more these days, but that's okay. All the best, Catherine. 💟💟💟💟💟💟

Great song. It must be hard for him to be John's son. I wish he made more music. He is so talented.

Cool! Julian Lennon heredó una buena parte del talento de su padre. Me encanta su música.

Super underrated. He's got his father's voice I believe and his father's music style. He should have kept going. Maybe he was worry that he would have to fight his father's shadow and decided to give up before being compared harshly and unfairly. Great talent.

Julian, your dad would have loved this. So hilarious! I especially love the end when you drink from the bottle. So so funny! And enjoyed the melody also. On my fav list.
