Julian de Medieros a.k.a. "the sweatiy Hegelian". While he empties out by sweating he fills us in with knowledge.

Hey Julian, just want to say thank you for doing these lectures. It means a lot for me and it gives me the chance to expand my education, which is a really good change for my rather dull life. Btw, what you said about Proust reminded me to one of my favorite Animes 'Blue Period' in which the protagonist Yatora also lives a unsatisfied life until he discovers his love for Art. It is an excellent depiction of both what Hegel ment with concrete Universality and Cunning of Reason. There is also a great Scene in the second episode where Yatora explains to his mother thanks to Art he actually sees now what he usually missed before. For example the fact that his mother always takes the least food because for her family comes first; or that she grew a lot of muscles from all the homework she is doing (carrying groceries and so on). This resonates with what you said about Proust that Art (in general) is intensing the view towards life instead being some kind of escapism. definitely recommend this Anime!

The "empty jar" feels like it describes the phenomenon of acceptance (from DBT, 12 Step Programs, etc.) As you release the tension of internally trying to "force things", the draining and absence of that tension (perhaps the grain is symbolic of the minds' notions of what to do to make the future be what is wanted) leaves the inner world filled in with a refreshed, renewed sense of peace and clarity, an openness that rewitnesses the world.

One thing to say about leaven bread. The yeast itself actually doesn't make bread bread, especially without water. And even if we want to radically put the "life" of the yeast on the pedestal when it comes to bread, let's not forget flat bread that is only made of water and flour.

Thanks, you’re right! Jenaline actually corrected me immediately after the lecture (she bakes) and said I got it all completely wrong. 😅
