It's interesting that Julie pointed out about the popularity award , indeed , it is silly to make artists compete in terms of popularity. We don't see an Oscar award doing that ! Great job on sharing your story ! Wishing u all the best !!

Reminds me of the controversy also about then nat'l table tennis coach _Liu Guodong_ not winning the Coach of the Year award despite our country winning the 1st Olympic silver in 48 years at the Beijing 2008 Olympics (in table-tennis); supposedly it's because he was also blamed for paddler's _Gao Ning_ 's later loss in an Olympic match because his own coach wasn't free to attend the match to support him, and Liu himself was supposed to be the replacement, but he himself was also busy attending another paddler's match at the same time, so Liu was deemed to have failed to win the player's rapport/support, which then led to discussions I think over whether the Coach of the Year award is now endorsing populism, which might violate the country's governing principles

Julie, my respect for you deepened immensely after watching this. Mental health struggles are horrible and intense, yet you not only braved them with grace, but also extended compassion to those who hurt you, chose love, and turned your experience around to reach others who might be struggling too. You are truly a goddess ❤️ Sending love, strength and a listening ear (message me anytime, back at u) xx

Depression is like under a dark cloud. It will go away only to return. So gotta be mindful n enjoy the things we like doing to be sane. So hang in there n continue to strive towards our own happiness. So count our blessings n not take it for granted. It would take alot to come out n share. Thanks.

Not easy to talk abt mental health in Singapore. Everyone is just busy with their life earning money and minding their own business. If we can care more for each others. Show concern to the ppl who really needs it.We can achieve a better and more caring society in this nation.
@jemlebeau3 жыл бұрын
That's a hard nut to crack in Singapore. Many people in Singapore like to bully those with mental conditions to feel mighty. I was expecting something like the River Valley case to happen but I was expecting the victim to be a bully which was not the case. Hopefully the river valley case shocked those bullies into changing their mindset about people with mental conditions and start caring instead

yep, sincerely hope this video will be very helpful for many. - the blanket analogy is quite helpful - not forgetting Julie's sharing, so glad to hear about the reconciliation with herself and her mum. i believe the self abuse part was from the early childhood of physical trauma from parents, so subconsciously part of her thinks she deserve it. 1) i always felt our society, generally speaking, lack the vocab and phrases to express ourselves or to express our concern for others. Usually these are learnt from our parents, e.g "are you ok?" "if you dont feel like sharing now its fine, when you like to share just text me anytime..." etc. 2) also skills of listening without giving advice too fast, acknowledging what the other party said rather than giving own opinions. e.g "so you just said that you are angry with your boss because he did this and that, and it was not what you agreed with" etc

Very brave of Julia to stand out to share her story, really felt a strong connection to what she was relating. How I have the similar issues too, my family member is not willing to even have therapy. The only thing I can do is work on myself, the depression is still there though but it's better in control.

If you realise that those who said unkind words to you are broken souls themselves, then you'll find it much easier to ignore their unkind words. Beautiful souls are wholesome, fulfilled and complete. They see no need to bring the other person down but prefer to build others up. Broken souls like to focus on the flaws and weaknesses of others so they can hide behind false fronts and feel a tad better about themselves. Julie, from the time you came on to the scene, I've noticed you because there's something special about you - a certain honesty and humility that is rare - I don't think you even know how beautiful (not just looks) you are. So I wish you all the best for your future... that one day you may walk out into the sunshine feeling strong, beautiful and powerful... so that you can inspire others to do the same.

It took me 8years to recover from mild depression since young with family,I converted to buddhist reciting all kinds of sutras daily,heart sutra clears all my depression. More than 6mths I stopped the medicines and no longer needed to visit clinic as doc told me I m stable now. Thank god for helping me and I hope those out there if u are buddhist, do recite heart sutra daily 7times. Never give up on medication,it does improve our moods too and put to sleep at night. Keep on going. I dont have family that supports me at all,I recovered just by praying heart sutra.

Great job!! Julie. Thank you for doing this interview, it is really not easy. Admired your courage. As a local fan, I always wonder who will help our artists to process before and after on set especially there are scenes which required alot of emotional work on the screen. We already heard a lot of foreign artists in other countries when they cannot cope with their work and they turn to negative coping like alcohol, drugs and sadly some even go to extreme and lost their lives. It is so heartbreaking!! As a pubic member, the least we could do is to stop making negative comments on social media and don't be a judge, we are not in their shoes.

I believe mental stress also exists in working class where there's office politic and favoritism. Some mgr, some senior staff, through seniority keep bully those staff under. Will the company protect this group of staff or think the upper mgr or senior mgr their behaviour is right always? Will the HR office step out and protect staff against these arrogant leader or boss in reality?

Meditation has being the greatest comfort for me. When you need someone to talk to, you need an outlet or a channel to let go for some negative energy inside of you. Likewise through meditation, you learn how to let go and feel the flow of energy leaving you. But it has to be constant throughout one's lifetime. Because we have so many hidden energies inside that we dun even know it's there. Our mind is a like email address. Everyday we have all kind junk mails, ads, spam coming in. We need to delete them out. And everyday after we have deleted them, new ones will come in next day and every single day throughout our life. Just like taking a shower, you have to do it every single day until your last. Where do our negative energies go to during meditation? Some call it outer space, some call it cosmic ocean. But I calls it God. God is just that gigantic force out there that is always waiting for me. I just need to connect to Him and give Him everything. God is not a religion. It's something very natural like the invisible air that we breathe. It's always there, every single moment. Just that we dun notice it most of the time because we cannot see it. and it is always there waiting for me. When everyone else has left, God is there for me, always there. All I need to do is to breathe in and connect. In modern Singapore, meditation seems something obscure. I learnt it 30 years ago and it's the best skill I ever learnt.
