I don't know if it's because of my childhood, but I actually found those videos to be oddly comforting. I grew up watching a lot of independent short film animations, and they were very beautiful and artistic, though many landed on the "creepy" side. I don't know why but I was obsessed when I was a child. I was in high school when Fran Bow came out and I fell in love right away. The style, the music, the story; everything about it touched my soul in a way nothing else really does. These pie videos... I don't know what it is, but they strike a chord with me. They make me feel safe, like I'm a child again. A weird ass child watching creepy videos on the internet lol. And here I am now, an adult all these years later, still loving them.

I absolutely love strange disturbing art like this, it reminds me of Salad Fingers, Possibly in Michigan, and Jack Stauber. I don't know how describe it other than both unsettling and comforting. I feel like this type of art gives us permission to express the parts of ourselves that are seen as weird and dark and so often hidden away out of shame. Maybe that's part of why I've noticed a lot of queer people in the horror community, since it allows us a safe place to be "weird" and celebrate who we are regardless of being made to feel like outsiders by the world.
