(The Daystar "dynasty" has brought me to this channel, and now I found this video about CC...) Many years ago, when I was 20 years old, some friends and I went to a Youth Conference here in Norway. We had journeyed for hours and paid a whole lot for the conference tickets and travel. Big Christine Caine from Australia was the real hot shot at this conference - being associated with Hillsong and all... As we were taught in these circles that to come forward and be prayed for by the hot shots really could make things happen, I found CC and asked if she could pray for two things I needed prayer for. She wasn't especially nice, but I didn't think too much about that at that point. She prayed a short prayer - for one of the two things I mentioned. It bothered me that she didn't pray for both issues as they were important matters. But I didn't have the guts to ask if she could pray for the other matter as she didn't give me any signal that I was important at all. Now I'm convinced that I can just pray for anything myself or have someone else pray with me - I don't really need the prayers of a hot shot. But I had only been saved for about a year and didn't know much better. And I was a very young adult - and in Christ I was a toddler! So as it still bothered me, later that conference I went back to her and asked if she could pray for the other issue as well... Instantly she yelled at me... She was furious. Her husband was there too. I had to understand that she had prayed for me already and she didn't have time for this! I was in shock... This came out of the blue and I was not prepared. I got really hurt, but fortunately I got mad at her in stead of questioning myself too much - even though, yes, I felt ashamed. I don't think CC noticed anything because she was already gone, but one of the leaders for the conference was there and had seen it all, and I was on his case and asked him what he was going to do about this. I knew Jesus didn't approve of her behaviour. The leeder guy seemed as shocked as I was, and I remember him almost shaking his head in disbelief when he came back to me saying: "That was not good... This is not how it should be..." To forgive is very(!) important, but I must admit I've cringed every time I've heard her name or seen her picture after that. Not because I can't get over this and let it go, but because it was as if I saw what she was truly made of and I understood that if she did that to me, someone she doesn't know at all, what can she do to so many others in her path. She came across absolutely stone cold. Unfortunately she is not the only hot shot who's like this, I've seen several, but that's for later. But it is SO IMPORTANT to call all of this out, to protect the sheep from these wolves! That is the right thing to do!

I, too, am watching TRR because of the Daystar debacle. I cannot even verbalize the level of disappointment about the despicable acts of Christine Caine, Joni Lamb and Rachel Lamb. The hubris and audacity to deceive all of us who trusted that they were people of integrity! Surely, they would use their God-given platforms to not only talk about Jesus but to also show His heart of love and integrity, right? I feel duped but I know God is reminding me that I am to glorify Him and Him alone! I hope they repent for the deceit, disappointment and damage their selfish actions have caused. Thank you TRR for your honorable work!

When I was doing my theology degree every essay was put through plagiarism programs, I once lost marks because I accidentally left out an end quote comma. In academia it is very serious. It is so disappointing to me that these publishers do not care if other people's work is being stolen. It is deceitful and people need to be called out. It is discouraging that so often those who speak out are the ones being judged and accused ("you just care about money") and the people who are lying and cheating just keep doing it.

Grateful for the Roys Report. There is so much of the 'bigger' leadership snuffing out the voice of the 'little' guy who is trying to do the right thing. And you give a voice to the little guys, in a fair objective way. Alot of people have been burned by the church, and feel alone especially when all they can see are others repeating and gaslighting. Also if others who aren't Christian get burned, it definitely kills the witness. Thank you for keeping them honest

Over the last couple years I have become very uncomfortable with the Christian circuit of speakers that seem to have made a business out of the Word of God. I am not against believers writing books and doing conferences but not all do them for the right reasons. To me it just confirms how we must be led by the Holy Spirit on who give our attention to and how they must never replace our personal time in the Word. God bless you both!

Now I understand why I've never been drawn to CC For some reason I get emails from CC but I never open them, I've met here here in Scotland & felt there's something off about her. I wondered if it was because she shouts a lot, but I knew it was deeper, more a spiritual characteristic rather than just something I don't like, i.e., shouters. Now I know it's because she's deceptive. I hope & pray she comes to a place of repentance & puts its right. I'm sorry this happened to you at the hands of a sister in christ & for the pain it's caused you. You did the right thing to distance your self from all things CC until repentance is achieved, & possible beyond repentance. Keep your eyes on Jesus . Love from me in Scotland ❤

I was once asked from an assistant to a very well known pastor/author to be part of a team to read and summarize books in detail. She would have us write up summaries of the books and turn them in to her. This well known leader was so busy with traveling and meetings, now i see how he could author so many books. I dont know if someone higher up had the task compiling everything into another hit book. I declined the offer. Unfortunately i once sat in a Christian writing seminar a year they discussed doing the same thing! But, happy to report, i know other christian authors who really teach how to write a book. They are the real deal!

People who pretend to be about the gospel should not confused with people who believe and share the gospel, even if the politicians who have co-opted the name think the gospel stands or falls on their politics, and allow their political cronies in religion to get by with murder. It has exactly zero to do with the gospel. Most of all, do not hold the gospel accountable, for those who scoff at it, and use up its credibility.

I so appreciate both of these ladies. These healing words from Ms. Scott toward the end (not much after 44:00)... " Those words are so validating and so canceling of the shame I have felt in a situation where I was being manipulated to compromise on boundaries that are important to me... my guard was down because of a close-knit community I'd thought we'd found... Thank you to Julie for making this space with such grace, and to Ms. Scott for sharing openly and articulately.

Thank you, Julie, for another fine podcast. This is heart-wrenching. This poor lady has had a series of awful experiences - how beautiful is it that she still sees God's goodness and faithfulness through it all and authors books and devotionals to encourage others - no matter what their plight. How awful to be betrayed by - as you put it - a Christian 'celebrity'. Christine Caine has a great testimony and seems to be doing a great job with A21 - but now, I'm not so sure I trust her testimony anymore. I don't really know if she is on the front line of her ministry of A21 because she is a keynote at many high-paying Christian conferences all year. I read her book 'Unashamed' and remember reading the very section mentioned in this podcast. It stood out from the rest of the book - now I know why. I also tend to remember reading that these books require a 'team' to write, perhaps based on Christine's talks, and if this is the case, maybe someone on Christine's team has let her down in this instance - someone she was depending on to write her book for her.

Good for you Carey...This is a wake up reality call that we need to know and understand.. The enemy has wolves in sheep clothing ..so called well known, A listers ..standing at podiums, singing and or speaking .. center stage in the Christian community. God Reigns Supreme.. be of good cheer.. He will not be mocked. .The so called mighty fall. In His Kingdom, an Infant born in a stable became our savior. A shepherd boy became a king...He does an awesome job representing the so called commoners.. We all must give an account one day. He will vindicate you and His other wounded sheep. That's a promise.. Keep standing sister.

Who was it, exactly, who coined the phrase, "wolves in sheep's clothing"? Was He being unduly negative, when positivity is so much more _attractive_ and desirable? Or did He know what He was talking about? Then I will not listen to these people who insist that there are no wolves, just bonafide brothers and sisters in Christ, whom we are required to believe mean well. There are more wolves than ever, with more nefarious intentions than ever before. We have to forgive them, but that does not mean excusing them, or saying no harm done. We have to not allow the sin to become the new standard, because if our God is real, the standard has not changed.

Julie - have you already completed an investigation into the whole industry of Christian book publishing and speedily formulating high unit counts? Similar to your work on the worship music charts and live sing payouts. I had a coworker who worked with folks at Multnomah under Random House once explain that even the “this book is great” blurbs at the front of each book are collected by influential voices before a final draft is ever ready to read. They are given the general idea of the topic and either character bios or their personal relationship with the author (as a fellow speaker, pastor, professor), but the endorsement is worded as if specifically for the book. I also knew a couple “ghost writers” in the way mentioned here… very common. Largely because the author’s name and representation of the topic is of the foremost concern and they “don’t have the time” to actually write a full book again once their name gets out. The book becomes more of a press piece to “warm the audience” for the larger product build… conferences and speaking events. Similar to how musicians don’t make much of anything off album or song sales, their individual income comes from their concert tours and merch sales. So, the plagiarism is almost the least of our worries as Christians… why do we even need to use a clearly “culture-honoring, not God-honoring” marketing systems to get the message of truth out? “The ends justify the means” is a verse in Notinthebiblemiah 15:87 … so I could be out of line 😂
@melaniekahleh176 күн бұрын
I feel kinda torn about the topic of plagiarism. John Osteen, my pastor of late, used to say, please copy, print, and do whatever you want because I want to get the truth out..we paid very little, even a couple of dollars for his books and did whatever we could to get them into the hands of others.. the books were full of personal struggles and revelations released during the battle...it was about helping people not protecting the stories. I'm not saying I disagree with Carey but when it comes to truly helping humanity it feels like it's Gods property. But at the same time, Time is money and people have to live..so I can see from both sides.. may God continue to heal those hurting from SA and rejection.

Julie, I know this is 1 year old and this story deserves a follow up at some point. BUT all plagiarism, copyright infringement, violations of intellectual property is STEALING. Substantiating the action of this type of stealing is simply go to the written record which Carey did. This is deliberate by the one who did the act and of course then you have an entire apparatus of publishing that is also complicit and knows they are on the hook. Good work.

The only book you need to read is The Bible. There are far too many celebrity pastors on the circuit, most of which are spreading a fase gospel and other pointless best life now' type self-motivational mush based on personal annecdotal accounts. I think God must be very grieved knowing that his name is being exploited in this way by so many who seek to bring a 'self help' emphasis into their writing, instead of just preaching the Gospel and clarifying the Bible. The Gospel is all we need and that is free of charge.

I think that we can write as a means of communication with others, and not insinuate that we are any particular authorities who must be obeyed. We can give people a heads up, let them know that at least one other shares their concerns, and point them toward Jesus, just as we can in speaking. But you are definitely right that the Bible is the only book that is necessary.

As a new author, this was disheartening to think that Christine Caine with a platform would steal, copy, take ownership of something that God didn’t give her. The fact alone that she did that is one thing, a huge other when she can’t go to another believer, acknowledge what she did to this woman in a humble way. This was scary, made me lose confidence in the authenticity of these platform preachers, teachers. We all need to unfollow and to the idiot who told you to be happy that she stole your personal, difficult testimony that was a spiritually immature person but guess what this may be another book about inauthenticity on the platform. Your brutal years are going to be a launching pad because it all resonates with people you’ll continue time to touch.

I wrote a book, 'Wake Up The Mighty Giants and Watch them Roar ' to then have my book stolen by Christians that moved to South Africa and established a publishing company using my book and called themselvesc, 'Zion Publications'.

With all this software out there and professors can detect plagrisim but these massive companies won't??? Love how people told you to rethink your priorities but clearly their priorities were the ones for monetary gain. I agree Julie it is all about the big bucks. Some people don't understand - if you put up something as art but you dodn't paint it, or you are at work and someone else takes credit for your ideas and execution and then let's say gets paid for your work, or during a race takes a short cut and ends up in 1st place because they weren't caught -what would those people say then. These companies are betting on the probability of no one finding out about their plagrisim. It is so easy if you like something from another author reach out and cite it! It doesn't take away from your writing. I can't imagine a non-fiction book other than an autobiography not having any citations. Even original scientific research - the world I come from - has pages and pages of citations. If those types of books don't have ang or minimal citations - it is a red flag. Writing is a gruelling process and these mega pastors I imagine don't have enough time to sit down and write multiple books. Kudos to you for being brave! Jesus was rately angry - but we should read again why Jesus over turned those tables. Thank you Julie for being a voice in the wilderness.

You will know them by their fruit. Even a 5 year old knows that its wrong to take something that doesnt belong to you.

I wish Christine at least had talked to you. I know that sometimes these writers have other people write their books or cowrite the books. I wonder if maybe Christine didnt want to throw them under the bus but really she should have confessed and come clean. It really did tarnish her testimony and I couldnt listen to her anymore. I am sorry this happened to you. This stardom platform is toxic😊

Please, investigate pastors using "Docent".
@lindajohnson4204 Жыл бұрын
And the ones using sermons they buy from Salem Radio/Communications, which is likely even more common than buying from Docent. If they just said, "I'm borrowing a sermon I want to share with you, from Bro. so-and-so", it would go a long way toward making borrowing sermons a little more acceptable. It would actually make it honest. But in places where Christianity is new, it is common practice for the uneducated pastors to preach from what they heard, and learned from, on the radio, etc. That is so understandable, and so different from this.

I’ve thought Julie might investigate Docent.

Many of the leaders have forgot what Jesus said. Let the greatest among you be your servant. We will give you a backstage pass? Your kidding me.

Totally understand how you know people will think you are just sour grapes when you say something negative about a church celebrity. We found out a huge lie that only my husband knows. But what is the use-no one will believe it. The celebrity even had the nerve to invite us to VIP seats (we didn’t go) to the speech when he told the lie to millions!

Colossians 3:23 ESV: “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men”. I think it’s good you spoke out so that we are warned. But it’s time surrender the outcome to your Father for the sake of your heart & peace in your soul. Didn’t he also say he will reward openly whatever is done in secret? Go to your secret place & tell YHWH God everything! He is your vindicator not the court of public opinion. Shalom.
