I hadn't given the family another thought until today I was listening to a song about persecution and thought I wonder what happened. When I Google I was appalled and then relieved that his wife Nagmah got out of that situation. Listening to her story touched me. Thank you for sharing. The church needs to take abuse more seriously instead of telling victims ( weather it's SA or DV or emotional and spiritual abuse) they should all be looked into. And taken seriously.

Yes, far too many women stay with abusers because too many Christians reject a woman who leaves. Leaving is a very difficult step! We need to support the women who leave. And we need to stop shaming women for getting a divorce! As Christians we should be willing to learn more and adjust our attitudes as we learn more. Sometimes even Christians don't want to hear the truth, and I think this is mainly because they don't know how to deal with these kind of situations. When I heard Naghmeh's story in this interview I realized that in this relationship and the following marriage there were serious issues from the beginning on. I wonder if Naghmeh had any good advise or mentoring in this time. I would assume not. If so, maybe a lot of pain and suffering could have been avoided. But this is also true: God has always a good plan for us, even if we made bad decisions in our lives, with God there's always a good way possible.

I counseled a woman once who told me as she was in the hospital, beaten to the point of staying in the hospital to recover. A church member came to visit her and she prayed that this wife would forgive her husband and reconcile. The issue of divorce has far too long been an excuse for spousal abuse to endure. I've litteraly spoke with woman who's church members essentially told the women not to anger their husbands. Sadly in some cases misogyny plagues church culture to the point women are reduced to background noise as the "men" do the work of the Lord.
@starlingswallow Жыл бұрын
Yep. Wives, don't anger your husbands...which then gets twisted as: if your husband is angry, he can blame you and it's all your fault. This was my story for 14 years with my abusive ex. It was always my fault. I needed to try harder, pray harder, read my Bible more, give him more sex....and to suffer as Christ suffered! At the end, my ex escalated to throwing things near me as my back was turned. I know if I would have stayed, he would have ended up hitting me or worse. What in the world?!?! This is what I was taught in Church. This is why I don't attend church anymore. God delivered me out of that horrific abuse and He gave me a new husband who is so gentle, kind, loving, attentive....and we effortlessly put one another first ❤ Like Christ teaches us. I'm in awe of God every single day.

@@starlingswallow I'm sorry to hear your story and unfortunately seems to be the case for a lot of women. Any kind of spousal abuse is sinful and should be treated as such in the church. @@susannabonke8552 In the Bible, Jesus plentifully condemns and warns about "Christians" who claim The Lord's name but don't actually follow His ways. Those people aren't true disciples of Christ aka Christians. And if someone truly knows The Bible, they wouldn't be acting like that. "Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ but you don’t do what I say?" -Jesus in Luke 6:46 (ERV version) "“Not everyone who calls me Lord will enter God’s kingdom. The only people who will enter are those who do what my Father in heaven wants. On that last Day many will call me Lord. They will say, ‘Lord, Lord, by the power of your name we spoke for God. And by your name we forced out demons and did many miracles.’ Then I will tell those people clearly, ‘Get away from me, you people who do wrong. I never knew you.’" -Jesus in Matthew 7:21-23 (ERV version) “Beware of false teachers who come disguised as harmless sheep, but are wolves and will tear you apart. You can detect them by the way they act, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit. You need never confuse grapevines with thorn bushes or figs with thistles. Different kinds of fruit trees can quickly be identified by examining their fruit. A variety that produces delicious fruit never produces an inedible kind. And a tree producing an inedible kind can’t produce what is good. So the trees having the inedible fruit are chopped down and thrown on the fire. Yes, the way to identify a tree or a person is by the kind of fruit produced." -Jesus in Matthew 7:15-20 (TLB version) "“Woe to you, [self-righteous] scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and of the plate, but inside they are full of extortion and robbery and self-indulgence (unrestrained greed). You [spiritually] blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup and of the plate [examine and change your inner self to conform to God’s precepts], so that the outside [your public life and deeds] may be clean also." -Jesus in Matthew 23:25-26 (AMP version) And countless other examples, especially when He was talking against the Pharisees. Woww, as Christian counsellor and teacher of the word, I strongly believe that once a man abuses his wife he is no longer functioning as a husband. The word says "Husbands love your wives as Christ loves the church, hence he cannot be functioning as a husband abusing her. I believe that's grounds for leaving. We must understand Jesus' teaching in context of culture and balance it with what Paul also taught. Paul never taught that only sexual unfaithfulness is grounds for divorce. Even if he wasn't sexually unfaithful his constant abuse if legitimate grounds.

About 31:59 Naghmeh said, "I don't know why, except for God's sovereignty in all of this and allowing it." This is one of the wrong understandings prevalent in Christianity and I used to be under that wrong teaching-well, we both went to Calvary Chapel Boise, so I get where she came into that because I did too. The thing is, none of this horror that Naghmeh and her children suffered was God's will. We sometimes think God is allowing things or that it's His will that these terrible things happen to us. NO bashing Naghmeh AT ALL, but she said she knew the Holy Spirit was telling her not to be with Saeed when they were dating-numerous times-but she continued as he was destroying her self worth and the abuse was starting. That's not God's will or sovereignty in all of this. God doesn't want us to be abused in any way shape or form-and if you're in an abusive relationship, God doesn't want you hurt or killed!! Ask God to make a safe way out and get out!! I think the Holy Spirit was telling her over these times to leave-she even knew the dog was in danger and she took measures to protect the dog by rehoming. But she was so beaten down (lies of the enemy coming through Saeed and attacking her mind) that she wasn't hearing or following that inner voice of the Spirit. Again, NO condemnation to this precious lady!! When she called out to God to help her when Saeed was going to beat her, he stopped! God has given us a choice to follow Him or not (and I mean beyond our salvation experience), invite Him to work or not. He absolutely wants to help us, but He needs us to invite Him to work. When she invited God in to help, He intervened so Saeed didn't hit her! He wants to help us, but are we asking Him to help and are we listening to Him when He directs us about what to do? God is not sovereignly dishing out evil to grow us up into good little Christians and I think we've misunderstood this so very much in the Church. There is a phenomenal teaching I heard a while back that Andrew Wommack did that cleared this up for me: 'The True Nature of God' www.awmi.net/audio/audio-teachings/?teaching=the-true-nature-of-god If we have this wrong understanding, then we allow the devil to work all kinds of vile stuff in our lives and we submit to it thinking that God is allowing it for some grand purpose or even worse that He put us in that situation. No! He wants you loved, safe, blessed, whole, healed, strong, full of His peace, joy, being led by His wisdom daily and His leadership to right paths of goodness in your life! God is for you, not against you! I doubt very much that Saeed was even born again-I guess God knows his heart, but he is a man who is very deceived and a man who the devil is trying to destroy and destroy everyone around him that he can. Classic Satan. I believe Saeed was more ruled by the devil that we saw any evidence of Christ in his life-some of the things he did to his wife and her family were utterly demonic. Saeed needs to come to the Jesus and truly surrender his life and let Him change him on the inside and make him new. Praying now that he be set free from his spiritual captivity that is far worse than any physical captivity! And praying for lovely Naghmeh and her family-I remember them at Calvary-that they truly heal from this trauma as Jesus walks them through to wholeness! God wants to write the good chapters He intended for their lives and restore her and her children completely! God's blessings be on them!! On a side note, I think we as Christians need to be thinking about the politicians and church leaders around us. Are they acting for themselves and their own agenda, or are they listening and following God humbly and seeking Him? God is the one who should promote us, not we ourselves. We should follow God, not human intellect or man-made religion! I see this too much among so called conservative politicians that pander for the Christian vote yet display very little evidence of knowing God or any interest in behaving in a Christ-like manner. The body of Christ has also become contentious and vile many times as they've elevated their favorite political heroes as though they are truly their savior and not Jesus. It should not be. We wonder why these people fall... Is it that they have no foundation in God in the first place?

The command to touch not God’s anointed is found in two places in Scripture: “Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm” (1 Chronicles 16:22; Psalm 105:15). These passages are sometimes used in Pentecostal and Charismatic circles to defend certain preachers from criticism. Preachers who promote themselves or their ministries as “anointed” warn their would-be critics, “Do not touch God’s anointed!” Of course, this helps to insulate them from scrutiny and allows them to spread falsehood and bad theology unrestrained.

What excellent examples of biblical submission you both demonstrate. “Submit“, the Greek word “hupatasso“, according to Strongs concordance means “to place under“, (ie support, or cooperate with). But submission is not biblical submission, unless it’s supporting a biblical mission, (ie God’s mission for the man, NOT HIS OWN MISSION)! (when’s the last time you heard a sermon on THAT)! You both obviously understand AND practice this)! May God raise up MORE godly women who will follow your Biblical examples!

MUTUAL submission! The “headship” movement is really dangerous! Much abuse is justified by this model and if you think about it, it’s not that much different from what goes on in the Middle East. When I stand before the Lord, I will answer to Him not point fingers at my husband. Ex-husband that is- A malignant narcissist who swept me away with his guise of Christian ministry.

“The Son of Hamas”, who was touted by a book promotion and made the rounds in Christian circles, was recently on a FOX news interview segment stated he had not left being a Muslim to become a Christian but told how he was treated by Hamas as his father was a founder. Money can be made in the USA in Christian circles. Even “Christian” music is a billion dollar business run by the secular. At 74, I’ve observed a lot that is discouraging and is fodder for an evil secular world looking for salacious stories to discredit Christians. Stay in His Word and keep the eyes on Christ Himself.

Mosαb Hαssαn Yousef has long been a 🆕 αger. I know he has suffered a lot and lots of people trapped in the 🆕 αge are trαumα sur√i√ors (they want to be their own god). What still concerns me is the fact that so many professing Christians continue to lionize him and consider him as a Christian, godly man/man of God, or an example for other Christians to follow even though he already blatantly denied the Lord Jesus Christ and His finished redemptive work in a synαgogue at the end of last year.

Maybe Saeed being put in an Iranian prison was the best thing that could have happened. God moved in a very deliberate way to bring down a fake Christian. One question I have is, when did he start training with Hezbollah? That should have been reported as soon as it was discovered. So glad she got away from that evil, wicked creature.

I saw her speak at Calvary Chapel in Newport. I am so sorry this has happened to her. I lived through it myself and the most “Christian” people that should have supported me condemned me. My husband was not a minister, but could impress anyone with his prayers and drama stories. I was forced to disappear as much as I could. I have so much respect for her. I am sorry he has not come forward and repented. My question: Do you think he is a Christian? I know only God knows our hearts and only He is the judge. But, what do you think?

If you knew the character of all the powerful people (Presidents) the father was “pastor” to who never showed repentance from truly evil behavior (kind of like Jim Bakker who went right back to swindling the gullible with his false repentance and false teaching when released from prison after “ministry” from BG), you might see a greater resemblance than difference between father and son than most would want to admit. I used to think highly of BG because of his winsome public persona. Then I read his autobiography, and his overly ingratiating attitude in the picture he paints there of all the US Presidents he served under (even ones as unscrupulous and evil as LBJ) and his easy access to the halls of power gave me pause….How many prophets in the OT or Apostles in the New were chummy with the political authorities in their day?

Praying for God's true healing in Saeed's life. It's terrible to be lifted up so high like that and then be the instrument of wickedness and abuse and not see how wrong he is. God knows how to heal people and He rescued Nagmeh against her own will so she can be healed. I grew up in church and knew about the Lord for years and years, but not until I started listening to the Lord's dealings with me did I really change. I had such anger issue and if I had been a man I would've have been as bad as Saeed. My anger consumed me and at times I would just snap and not know or even remember why what I said or did were wrong. I was so unhappy. An abuser is not an abuser for nothing. They need healing too. But the Lord delivered me because I started listening to His dealings with me and started acknowledging my sins. Praying for both parties, especially for Saeed or he is lost.

It's so sad to hear Naghmeh's story. I'm glad she got out and is sharing her story. The truth is so many churches don't know how to properly respond to domestic abuse. And as we know the same is true of society in general. But there's always greater expectation that the body of Christ will do what's right and not encourage people to remain in unsafe relationships. Abuse is unloving and unchristian. In Naghmeh's case, a husband that beats his wife violates the New Testament command for husband's to love their wives as Christ loved the Church.

There’s a whole organization of people who “Stand for Your Marriage.” Yes, God hates divorce but I believe He hates lousy marriages as well. Marriage is supposed to represent the union of Christ and the church. Abusive marriages are an afront to God’s plan.

Where do elders get corrected in front of the sheep, they hurt with their sin? It is an order from the bible to do so!!!! No more money and honour for anyone abusing the spirit ,soul and body, in his trusted position , and any anabler. No more for me.
@Angel-tt8tq3 ай бұрын
This is why all Christians need deliverance and inner healing. And it can be hard to figure out what's going in a marriage because people hide things so well. Ministers often don't know what to believe and need Holy Spirit to discern what is truly going on behind closed doors. God bless this woman and her children and bring this man to repentance so his life can be restored. 🙏🏼🔥☝🏼

What a brave woman!! I am personally so frustrated with all these stories of Pastors engaging in the abuse of woman!! Ephesians is about men being Christ like Spiritual leaders - not abuse, bullying and manipulation. How is that the will of God. When was the last time God bullied, controlled or manipulated a human!! I am sone with the Christian women need to just take it because the man is the head. No! The man is the Spiritual leader!! He sacrifices and loves his wife and family like Christ does! The woman respects his leadership and follows his Godly lead! This does not mean abuse or control!! That is not biblical! Christian women- please- how could this be Gods will?
@Himmiefan11 ай бұрын
Actually, the Bible doesn’t say that the man is the spiritual head. That has been read into the text. Since we must reconcile all of Paul’s teachings with Christ, the Ephesian verses are all about loving one another (mutual submission) and not hierarchy or who is the boss/leader.
