What a great video. I am currently flying the Majestic Q 400 on P3D Flight Sim, and feeling really good how similar the sim is to the real aircraft.

Really great pilot i must say! She didn't even use Rev. Thrust for the landing. Thats rare and shows youre pretty awesome.

Most regional jets don't use reversers on long runways... it's almost pointless.

It's a 12000ft rwy...

The Q400 RARELY needs reverse thrust, even on relatively short runways. When you set the power levers to "DISC" after landing, the almost flat blade angle of the 13.5' diameter propellers are more than enough drag to help brake aerodynamically. However, if needed, throw er into reverse and you can stop the old girl REAL quick.

Amazing video, thank you! And finally no stupid music!! Just one question, why stays the prop rpm at 850 when they have put the condition levers to 1020 for landing?
@MarkusM5219 жыл бұрын
+Markus M. I figured it out. Reduced Np Landing, there is Knob when you press it Reduced Np Landing appears on top of the Engine Display and from now on you have 15sec time for putting the Con Levers to 1020, the RPM stays at 850 and only goes to 1020 when you increase the Power Levers over 50% Torque for an Go Around.
@carmenseeger3118 жыл бұрын
+Markus M. they give it the possibility to spool the props up to 1020rpm in the case of a go around but the engines don't need (or can't) that high rpm with a low power setting on approach/landing. the engine's governor adjusts the rpm to the prop pitch as needed. It would increase if they used more power.

+Carmen Seeger Thank you Carmen for the info :)

Sometimes 1020 is preferred on approach landing, and required by the manual in certain instances, but it's DEFINITELY quieter to leave it at 850 on approach. Keeps the passengers and airport neighbors happy. :)

Good thing you guys are pilots because you aren't very good camera men. lol

... yeah, what's your point? The crew knew to push the nose down if they got the stick shaker, that wasn't the issue. It wasn't that they didn't know, it's that the situation caught them by surprise and they reacted wrongly.

It seems to be rather noisier than the ATR or am i mistaken?
@Olivere1189 жыл бұрын
Its probably noisier than a nuclear bomb going off at the neighbours yes! It is EXTREMELY loud on the ground and with Low Thrust. But funny thing is, the more power you give it the quieter it gets! :-D
@LumpyFPV7 жыл бұрын
I dunno. She always seems loudest to me at N/MTOP and 1020 RPM. But at 850 and MCR? She's the quietest propeller driven aeroplane I've ever flown! But yes, super loud on the ground when near, and transiting, beta haha. GRRWWAAAAHHHHHHWWWWHWHRHHRRHSSHHHHH.

Why do they have 2 captains?
@supertwinotter9 жыл бұрын
cjracer1000 maybe one is a instructor ..... line check o route check
@cruxader279 жыл бұрын
cjracer1000 even if a pilot seating on the right has 4 stripes doesn't mean he is the captain. The captain will always be seated on the left and the proper term for that is Pilot in Command (PIC). While the pilot seating on the right regardless of the number of stripes are called Second in Command (SIC). In this video however the pilot seating on the right is a captain but acting as SIC.

we see here very little of cockpit action and instruments, no zoom upon altimeter, engine gauges dials in the middle screen, the camera goes erratically upwards, downwards, we even don't see the lights turning green from red when they call for gear down…
