This is an excellent rendition of an incredibly difficult aria. It far surpasses other recorded versions [e.g., Fleming or Caballe] and comes close to Callas in execution of the coloratura although without the myriad emotions Callas evokes. This is an aria that even Sutherland did not attempt although it would have been marvelous to hear what she might have done with it. Kudos to Anderson for this.

@@KajiVocals thank you for your comment. I heard June live and it was very evident to me she was a Lyric coloratura soprano. Sometimes her middle voice sounds a little like Joan Sutherland so I think people assume her voice is bigger than what it is.

This is an excellent rendition of this impossible aria, why isn't this viedo properly been restored and made available in digital formats? It might be desirable a bolder voice for this part, but I find June Andreson's Armida far more thrilling than Renée Fleming for instance.

I've heard the great June Anderson twice: first in a recital in Cannes (perfect), secondly in Norma (she was about 60 and absolutely convincing). She 's certainly not a dramatic voice but her voice was always in ability to fill the space. Armida is not the best partition for her (of course, everybody thinks to Callas who sang it in a crazy way) but her exceptional technic permits her to overcome this terrible aria.

This is not an aria necessarily for gorgeous sounds. The soprano should give the impression that she is breathing fire; spiting venom or tax.
