This is Junior our 8 week old American Pitbull Terrier. He is a chocolate rednose from the bloodlines of Danger Zone & Boogie Man. I have been uploading every week the progress he has been making along with his temperment and his attitude...
I hope you enjoy these videos of my little man... He is scheduled for his first set of shots tomorrow 8/9/13 hopefully all goes well...
He has come a long way since we first brought him home as a little teeny tiny guy... We have had him for 4 weeks and he is now 99% pee pad trained as well as sleeping and holding his bladder thru the night..Obeying the no command and the no bite command.. He is playing on his own now, exploring and fitting in here perfectly. He is not whining anymore unless he needs something.. He has shown signs of protection already.
He has become my shadow, the two of them Halo and Junior I have a feeling if you tried to come at me, you would have to go thru the two of them first..... lol.... no joke!
thanks for watching my videos, i hope you like them..sometimes when I am filming I totally forget what I am saying... idk what's up with that... cant focus...what's new...
anyway... subscribe if you like my channel...
ttyl,
haloskeeper♥

My 3 1/2 yr old blue has been on it almost her entire life, she just had a heart worm test last month and it was negative, she has never been sick... Good luck with your little blue baby.... Share some videos of her with me when you get her... Be Patient thru the puppy stage.. it's hell but they will make the best dogs you ever had in your entire life when they come out of the wild puppy stage! thanks for commenting

We definately will socialize him, we did it with our oldest Pitbull Halo.. We have started by family coming over.. Our vet insisted we do NOT take him out until his 3rd immunization. Parvo is a huge problem in our county and they actually give a 4th booster here because of it.. so we wont be brining him outside of our property walking anyway until then.. we do take him out for rides though..thanks for the comment..I'm glad your girl loves the mushy pulverized mix...

I love it that you consider 8 weeks is his birthday!!! I do this for my little baby too ... She is very spoiled and I take every opportunity to spoil her. Good job with the potty training. The only different I would do is have his shots sooner than the 8 weeks. He's a little behind with his shots.

WOW you can really see his growth here. at 7:29 his eyes still have a slight blue hue to them. this is making me want to leave work and go home to my pup :) btw I did ur pulverize mix idea with her food and it worked great she loved it. thanks for that. I know he has his shots by now, and I would socialize him with other dogs then halo bc if hes getting very protective and isnt constantly socialized with other dogs he might end up vicious towards other dogs, I had that problem with my last pit.

thank you! Yes you have to get a handle on that quickly but don't let it worry you... you are in charge, what you say and allow goes always... stay calm and be the leader... I found myself breathing to stay calm and in charge the other day with Junior... I had to take Halo to the vet and Junior was with us and he is very protective of me and Halo and I found myself feeling a little nervous that he would do something stupid with the strangers at the vet handling Halo so I slowed down and did some deep breathing to calm myself and made sure I didn't pull on his collar tight and it all worked out perfectly...

First off your dog is so cute! My pit just turned 8 weeks yesterday and I was worried I wasn't feeding him enough but I pretty much have the same feeding schedule you said so that gave me some peace of mind. Also I don't know if I am being too hard on him for his age. He already knows to sit before I put his plate down and before he comes inside the house while I open the door. Only problem I have right now is that he pees in his crate at night. He used to bite everything and everyone but he has come a long way from that. Any advice would help. Thank you!
@Haloskeeper1
@Haloskeeper1 9 жыл бұрын
sounds like your baby is going to be amazingly obedient.. that's a great quality to see early on. the only advice I give you is take him out very very late or take him out in the middle of the night and praise the crap out of him.... I would wash everything with bleach to remove all traces of the urine in his crate as well... puppys on average can hold their bladder so many minutes per month of age... example: 1 month = 1 hour, 2 months = 2hours etc... etc... that is always what we kept in mind when we had to go out while we were potty training... soon all that will be a distant memory!!! good luck!

Hey just have a question, i just got my 8 week pup today and was wondering do i put her in the crate when we go to bed? If i do should i get up every so often to take her to go potty? Because right now we are trying to get her to go on the pee pad. Thank in advance.

CrispyPorky Hi! Congratulations on your new baby... I kept my boy in the crate to sleep at night until he was fully potty trained and yes I took him out more often and put him right back in.. if you can avoid the pee pad it's better but I used a pee pad as well until he got all of his shots and transitioning from the pee pad to going outside only took about a week... make sure the crate and the potty training are kept very positive... good luck!! For night time I would say make sure he pees right before bed and then maybe once in the night and then first thing immediately in the morning that's assuming your on about an 8 hr sleep schedule... ♥

do you have any suggestions on create traning my pup? everytime i put her in their when we are sleeping, she sleeps for about 10-15 minutes and then starts to whine/cries in her create, We make sure when we put her in the create we make sure its in a positive way. Thanks
@Haloskeeper1
@Haloskeeper1 9 жыл бұрын
CrispyPorky hi... well the good thing is you are keeping the crate positive. that is soooo important.. I was just talking with my mother about this last night.. never ever punish the dog by putting her in the crate... I made that mistake with my first one... when junior was a puppy and he would whine in the crate we had to totally ignore him... at first it was hard I wanted to baby him and I would say "it's ok baby", etc.. etc.. well I quickly found out that did not work... we literally would have to turn our backs to him and act like he was legit not there! that's of course making sure he didn't have to pee or anything.. be patient it works.. we still use it today when either one of them does anything we don't like we tell them no and then turn our backs on them... they learn quickly but as a puppy it takes longer to get it... as long as you are keeping the crate 100% positive and safe then you cannot talk to her and if you have to you may have to cover a portion of the crate so she cannot see you!! good luck!!! hope this helps ♥

I am currently setting up for my pitbull puppy. He is six weeks old now and I will bring him home when he reaches the eight week mark. I plan to do extended crate training, where the bed is in one part of the cage and the pee pads in anotheeer. I'm out of the house 7 hours out of the day and I was wondering if he'd be ok in his extended crate for that long. I would love to let him roam freely and just give him a place for his pee pads but we have carpet and I'm worried about him having accidents while I'm not there to correct him. When I return home I do plan to just leave the cage door open and allow him to roam freely until he has to return to the crate to use the pee pads. As puppies most of the dogs my family has owned are given their first vaccines at 8-9 weeks and because we live in a very woodsy area (ie. Rivers, lakes, forest) we keep the dogs inside even after parvo, flea, tick treatments, ect up unitl about 4 months
@Haloskeeper1
@Haloskeeper1 9 жыл бұрын
Hi... congrats on the new puppy!! love me some pitbull puppies.... I always miss that age when they get huge!!! Extended crate training is the best thing you can do for them.. they need that safe place.. always make sure it's a positive experience and never used for punishment.. My male still goes in the crate at a year and a half old while I am gone for long periods of time... now when he was a baby, we could not let him outside until all of his shots were completed due to the county I live in had a high parvo rate and I was scared as well so we also trained him on pee pads until all shots were completed.. I made the mistake of leaving him alone with a pee pad in the back of the crate, he ate half of it and they contain charcoal and lord knows what other chemicals inside those things and he got so sick with vomiting and explosive diarrhea that I ended up doing pedialyte with a syring down his throat to get something in him before he died of dehydration!! he was then checked out by a vet and cleared but bottom line I almost lost him because of those damn pee pads!! so after that I left an old towel under an old sheet in the back of his crate for when he had to go and I just washed the soiled sheets and towels... so when he was taken out of the crate we went straight to the pee pads for pee pee and he went on them most of the time, he learned very quickly and it only took about a week to get him fully transitioned off of the pee pads to going outside... I praised him like a crazy person and he learned so quick!! they are just a very smart breed and so loyal to satisfy... so good luck.... If you have any other questions let me know... crate training is a must for a pitbull and there is nothing wrong with them being in it for years of their lives... my female never needed it but my male loves it and has to be in it.... males don't mature as quickly as females so it's a safe, positive place that he calls his own... ♥

Hi, what brand do you feed w ur puppy? his skin is really shiny..my puppy had blue buffalo puppy feed 3 times a day 3/4 cup. can u give me some tips how u feed him?
@Haloskeeper1
@Haloskeeper1 10 жыл бұрын
Hi...well depending on what age and weight your puppy is will determine how much to feed him. I definitely say use the guidelines on the bag of food. Junior is now 6months old and for most of his life he has been on Nutro Natural Choice Puppy, Chicken or Lamb formula, both of my dogs are on it and they are thriving and doing great on it. I had to switch him off of the Blue Buffalo because of it's high protein content, it was causing him to have very bad gastrointestinal issues like gas and soft stools. ever since I switched him to Nutro Natural Choice he has been awesome! Up until 6months old I fed him 3xs a day and I wet his food each time with warm water and now I feed him 2x's a day 2cups each time of food and I still water it down for both of my pitbulls...I hope that answered some of your questions..if you have any other specific questions check out my channel or just ask me... thanks for watching...

What a handsome little guy he is. Did u start off potty training him in the house or taking him outside? I am getting a red nose little lady in a couple weeks and she will be 8 weeks as well. Would be glad to hear any steps you took to keep him socialized and playing nice.
@Haloskeeper1
@Haloskeeper1 9 жыл бұрын
hi. thanks so much... he is now a year and a half old and so handsome!! :-) I actually started him off on pee pads because he was so young when we got him, he was not vaccinated and I didn't want to take the chance of parvo or fleas... but it took about a week to train him for outside once he was vaccinated. I made sure to praise him like crazy when he went outside and if he had an accident inside I just said no in a calm voice and put him outside immediately. people make the mistake of scolding when they have an accident and that only makes them go pee inside somewhere where you cant see them so they don't get in trouble!! also keep the crate for only positivity. never crate them when they are bad. use time out, when they are bad scold them and put them in a room alone for a little bit, it worked for both of my dogs when training. they do not like to be separated from the pack. EVERY time he did or does something I don't like, I scold him and put him in time out alone. he learns the quickest from time out!! try and take your new puppy everywhere with you and let everyone touch her outside of your home. I held Junior while I did everything, vacuuming, sweeping, bathing, everything that I possibly could while he was still tiny and he literally has no issues with anything!! he actually LOVES the vacuum. I would hum or quietly sing songs with him in my arms doing these things and it worked, I think he finds comfort with the vacuum. I wish I would have done that with my oldest female, she does NOT like the vacuum or weird flooring... Also buy the longest lead you can find, walmart has I think a 12-15 ft training lead, keep it on them when they are out of the crate, at all times. this way you can grab the other end of it and correct them immediately after they do something bad, it's the best thing I ever did with my first pitbull and I used it again with my second. it saved my sanity with training the puppies!! if they were roaming around they were attached to a long ass lead and I was always at the other end of it correcting... neither one of them ever even chewed a shoe!! I had a lady tell me their pit's chew holes in the walls, what do they do?? I was like OMG, go and get a lead on them ASAP!!! ok anyway.. hope this helps you.. Good luck!! she will be the best thing you ever had once as long as you can find the patience with the puppy stage...they are so worth it!!
@MrAtlantababy

Omg thanks soo much. This is very helpful. She will be my first dog and I wana make sure I do it right. Did u put him in his cage at night time in a room with you or another room? Also, what signs did you notice just before he had to pee and poop? My new pup has had her 2 shots so far. I can't wait to have her ride shotgun with me and play!
@Haloskeeper1
@Haloskeeper1 9 жыл бұрын
SE ATL your welcome! I put him in his cage at night in our room. I always wanted to make sure he felt like part of our pack and he had his safe place. Also, I took him out every hour... he would go toward the door sniffing around if I didn't and I dropped everything to take him out at that point. pitbulls will always tell you what they want if you just pay attention. they are very good communicators.. typically they can only hold their pee one hour per month old.. not taking into account eating and drinking of course. so if they are 3 months old they can hold it for 3 hours, 4 months 4 hours, etc.. etc.. but I always brought Junior out every hour until I knew he was fully trained... good luck!! nice talking with you!! Pitbull people are special people!!

you have to stay on top of it... potty training can be so hard and exhausting... every half hour or less put him on the pad and say go pee pee and when he finally does praise him like a silly crazy person!!! you have to do this over and over until they learn, it's a long process sometimes.. good luck!!

cute puppy...how can I train my puppy to pee on the pee pads because mine always pees everywhere pls respond.
@Haloskeeper1
@Haloskeeper1 8 жыл бұрын
Personally I was with him 24/7 and I always had my eye on him, he was not allowed out of my site while he was being trained so it was a lot easier for me. puppies have to pee about every half hour or so when they are roaming around so every time I saw he was sniffing I would immediately pick him up and place him on the pad and tell him to go pee pee and when he did I praised him like a crazy woman... it didn't take long for him to learn. One huge thing that people do that is wrong is when their puppy or dog pees somewhere they are not supposed to they get angry and yell at the puppy. by doing this the puppy thinks they are in trouble for peeing or pooping so they will go and hide to pee or poop behind your back so that they don't get in trouble for the act of peeing or pooping in the house and then it turns into this vicious cycle of not being able to properly train the dog. just make sure you keep your eye on the time and the dog and make sure you are placing it on the pad telling it to pee or poop and when he does it praise him so much. when he makes a mistake and pees in the house just tell him NO and pick him up and put him where he needs to go and be done with it. you would be surprised how much your dog feels and knows exactly how you feel without saying a word. the only big deal that should be made is when he does what you want and you are praising him with positive reinforcement. In my experience with my pitbulls positive reinforcement is the only guaranteed way to train a dog... good luck!

Don't teach him to pee on pee pads. Crate train him (dogs don't go potty where they sleep), then reward him each time he goes outside when you take him out of the crate. I trained my APBT in a week when he was 3 mo old.

+Jimmy Ruiz Tell your mom to just let the dog be a dog.. A dog WILL shit on the floor... it has to shit somewhere. Now, weather you trained them where to use the restroom is a completely different story. Its not a human, not a baby. Your pitbull is in fact a DOG!
