Been a bit heavy on the horror manga/anime side lately, but I have a lot of other stuff coming up as well (Otaku Field Notes, random manga reviews, literary videos, knitting videos, language videos, vlogs etc.) -- I just haven't really had a lot of time to read extensively so this was the content I could get out the fastest. Hope you are having a good day though, cheers :)

Man this made me realised I’m lacking in my Ito collection. I am so happy you covered both Japanese and English books. For the Japanese collection, I have read somewhere that Viz media is going to make a new collection of his older work (black paradox, etc.) into English but I might be wrong. Thanks so much!

I love watching interviews with Ito-sensei, he has such a funny shy vibe, perfect for a guy who creates some of the most disturbing art. Have you watched the series Urusawa Naoki no Manben? It’s an amazing show where Urusawa-sensei profiles and interviews other mangaka, there’s a great episode with Junji Ito. My favourite episode is the one with Akiko Higashimura, she is so COOL!

This was a fantastic video! I adore Junji Ito but don't know much (if anything) about his catalogue or work in Japanese so it was great to learn. I love that this video is so informational and then you just laughing about spontaneous combustion haha the perfect blend.

I love Ito! I have most of the Viz releases. I never finished No Longer Human, it seemed to be so heavier/depressing than his other work (if that makes sense) I’ve read. Gyo haunts me til this day!

I think my favorite of his short stories is Long Dream, but I also love the absurdity of Hanging Blimp. The way you described Smashed and No Longer Human resonated with my own experiences with trying to share them with friends who don't read Junji Ito.

Lol I totally get what you mean with people spontaneously combusting, there is a book called Nothing To See Here by Kevin Wilson, it's about a woman who becomes a nanny for two children (i think they are like...7 years old...maybe twins? i cant recall fully) who spontaneously combust. Their parents task her with finding ways to calm them down when it happens. It's hilarious 😂 at one point she resorts to making them stay in the pool the entire day lol. Anyway I dove into Ito's work due to your videos and I loved his work! I am very excited to read more. Thank you for sharing your collection and further knowledge. :)

thank you so much! i loooooove art books, mostly from freelance artists, but i had no idea junji ito had one as well. i have a few of his work and had the chance to get one of his exclusive apparel at crunchyroll expo and see his exhibit, but i haven't read a single one of his works even tho i own 3 LOL @_@ this will push me to fix that haha.

Just finished Yon and Mu, it funny cute and wholesome. I’m now reading No Longer Human and loving it! I’m curious, how much do you read in a day? My goal is to read 20 books this year and I’ve only finished 3 😖 need to step up my reading

Oh I'm glad you have been enjoying his work! I don't really read a lot these days -- it's very sporadic at this point. Sometimes I'll go weeks without and sometimes I'll go on a binge. I used to read about 30-50 pages on average a couple of year back though ;)
