I love mechanical history. It's so interesting to see the evolution and learn about different companies. Cars, motorcycles, and now chainsaws are my favorites. I have a Mac 15 but the plug threads are stripped. I appreciate the art of vintage chainsaws!

History for us is an important part of our channel. We are a bit different than most channels, as we are what I would call living history, as we use all our old stuff, study the history of the manufacturers, and see how the products made our nation the best in the world as a result. We have a large collection of literature on cars, trucks, tractors, engines of all types, trains, tools, etc. that we use to research and repair all of our old junk.

I am right there with you on all that stuff like poetry and school etc. I always have loved technical things especially engines. I too collect old chainsaws. The other day I happened upon a complete David Bradley chainsaw. It was all there. I now have it running and have cut with it. Its amazing what u happen upon.

Hobbies are good for everyone. I have collected SEARS stuff for a long time, study the history of the company, and see how they helped rural America grow. David Bradley Chainsaws were a big seller , and most of the saws they sold were better than most other brand X saws. Having one to play with and do some work with is a real bonus !

Motorcycles are a big part of our hobbies, and of course they are all vintage. My first vintage bike was a British Velocette 500cc. We have a bunch of HODAKA's for our trail bikes. I have a Honda trail 55, which is one of the first ones imported to the US. We have BRIDGESTONE bikes made by the tire company, and other unusual bikes as well. A great hobby, collecting motorcycles. I have only showed one vintage bike in my videos, but next spring I will do some more videos about hobbies, and will do some videos of some of our motorcycles.

Wow, a couple of great finds! You can't beat the price on that Mac 15! I've been looking at a Mac 15, but It's selling for $87 more than what you paid. Thanks for the history lesson on the Briggs & Stratton engine, really cool. That kick start, I could see My Grandma kick starting that thing back in the day. She grew up on the farm and did it all.

I found that I have a Pioneer brochure, it was misplaced a while ago, but the difference between a P20 and P25 is just the bar. The P20 came with a 14" hard nose bar, and the P25 came with a 16" roller nose bar. The saw itself is exactly the same except for the decal.
@EightWheelsRollin11 ай бұрын
Thanks for looking into that. It's funny that they would create new decals and marketing materials just for a different bar. What do I know?? Mystery solved!
@mrobsoletesvintagehomestea915611 ай бұрын
The strategy of selling a saw as one model, then changing the saw model because of a bar change is silly as far as I see it. What were they thinking !

The Mac 15's are an unusual saw compared to most other McCulloch saws. They were a big seller and stayed in production for a good length of time. I like to have a backlog of projects so I won't ever get bored from lack of stuff to do !

I've had two model Y Briggs over the years. One would run. I was too young to access parts to get the first one going.

The B&S model Y engines were made from 1931 to 1940, and were an excellent engine.

None of the kids today have any understanding of history - it is not taught in schools, today. My BA is in history because if you do not know where you have been, you surely do not where you are going. I had art history courses on Monet and Picasso. Picasso had a loose screw and Monet painted primarily landscapes with water colors, as I remember. I have never been a collector of art. I have all kinds of photographs that I have taken, some good some bad, but some have won awards if that matters. The best are on my office walls.

History is the best teacher. Today it is not a priority, and the schools are turning out a bunch of dumbells as a result.

@@mrobsoletesvintagehomestea9156 I see folks on TV that cannot even speak the Kings English. My high school class (1963) has been reported to have had the highest test scores of any high school class. I made 1215 on the college board and was a National Merit scholar. I had two appointments to West Point and did not take either on of them. One of my few mistakes. However if I had taken either one of them I would probably have bought the far years ago. The life expectancy of a shave tail in Vietnam was something shorter than that of a stray dog in the street.
