After a little while I went to a 3.33 pulley and 42 lb injectors and it went from about 8 lbs to 12 lbs of boost but racing is a bad addiction because no matter how fast your car is you always want it to be faster. Kenne Bell for drag. NA for daily or rally. Vortech for anything else. That rising torque curve would hook up so good coming out of a tight corner on the touge. Unwind the steering as the revs rise and just slingshot out of there. Superbikes do that all the time - use the lack of low-end to gain control on the side of the tire and then ride the wave as you straighten out. That kind of thing becomes important with 600+ hp and RWD. A PD blower or pair of turbos could really blow the tires off at the apex.

Twin screw rules....from someone who's used em all. I have direct comparison on two S197s with Coyote. The VorPax was great to install but, the car felt like a slightly soggy stocker running around and you needed to wring its neck to get anything out of it. The 2.3 TVS on a mild tune just rips everywhere and helps cut the 60 foot at the track, too. Just gotta mind keeping it cool between runs. That installation was WAY more complex than VorPax, to be honest. I'd add I chased false knock for a good while tuning the VorPax, no such issues with the TVS. I'll also add that the 2.3 TVS adds more weight to the car but, makes more than enough to compensate, My loaded automatic 2014 weighs in at just under 4000 pounds with me in it and a tank of gas. runs 121 mph in the 1/4 on 8 pounds boost. Obviously not tuned max but, runs pump 91 no problem and is lots of fun.

A blower that comes on with boost at the top end would make it easier to launch. You also tend to suprize the competition coming up on them at end of the run. On the street the screw type just sounds cooler and a harder launch looks impressive.

I had subframe connectors and a lot of maximum Motorsports H&R and tokico suspension parts, and 03 Cobra Brakes. 450 rear wheel doesn’t sound like a lot, but when you can rip around the streets on a car that stops and turns on a dime much more power wouldn’t have helped the car…. It never broke, EVER!! I could drive thousands of miles at a time with the AC blowing and it would run and drive like stock. On that note, I’d try the Kenny Bell to replace that junk plastic intake and to keep the battery under the hood.

I have a thick Crown Vic with a very healthy 2v at 79k original miles. I was planning on using it to build a 600hp - 800hp setup. The KB would be nice for low end torque, but the VT seems to be able to produce more peak hp. If I'm being honest, I get goofy over that KB whine.
@commonsenseisdeadandgone7 ай бұрын
PD blower hands down on a street car, ESPECIALLY with a heavy basterd like a Vic! Also taller gears help get the two and half tons of fun out of the gate a bit better! (I have a Vic with 4.10s and a manual trans.... Faster with the auto but so much more fun with the stick! .... I have a KB kit and other goodies sitting around for it but current project is the suspension and audio portion 😏)
@commonsenseisdeadandgone7 ай бұрын
Oh and it really doesn't matter how healthy the current engine is, when you're looking at 600+ hp then you need to build a lower end anyway! Also the KB also takes care of the intake manifold issue with 2v's when looking at that power level considering there isn't much out there and what is, is ridiculously priced! Then comes the heads which honestly if you want to keep it "budget" then rods and pistons, 4v head swap and turbo would be the way to go! Then your limiting factor becomes the transmission! 600+ HP isn't as cheap as people seem to think, just in hardware I had over a grand alone! It is much cheaper nowadays with the flood of Chinese products being readily available (for instance turbos, an line and fittings, tools to fabricate, etc...... )

Really depends I’m usually deciding on how to build power while considering the purpose of the build. A lot depends like the rest of car combo but let’s give it a shot. Street- screw blower, man trans, 3.55:1’s Track- centri, auto 3 spd,5000 rpm stall, 4.11:1-4.56 I still like the screw the truck would only win at the track maybe. There’s actually a huge Disparity in the power in the screw blowers favor even though the centri peaks higher. If they were both e85 (pump gas) then the screw would probably be safe on even real hot days. It’s very hard to beat the screw blower on this one.
@commonsenseisdeadandgone7 ай бұрын
For the track a centrifugal makes the most sense because you're gearing the car to stay in the higher (peak) power band. Either way, Vortech and KB really are street use brands.

@DragonFireEngneering Жыл бұрын
The twin screw operates kind of like turbo with electronic boost control and the huge difference in area under the curves is hard to ignore. It will not make as much power as turbo with same boost due to supercharge losses but it is a really good choice when under hood packaging is a factor. For every day driving, I have always liked centrifugal and roots style superchargers. It is not easy to put an instant 500lb/ft of torque to the ground. T-5s will also hold up under that level power (in daily driving) behind a centirfugal or roots supercharger but kind of sketchy with a turbo or Kenne Bell.
@commonsenseisdeadandgone7 ай бұрын
Think that's the first time I've heard a PD blower operates like a turbo (considering a centrifugal is literally a belt driven turbo....) "It will not make as much power... with the same boost" That's not how it works! It's also too vague. You say that it will hold up to a "roots" but not a "Kenne Bell"? Roots is a PD supercharger just the same as a KB..... Also a PD supercharger is harder on a transmissions than turbo for sure!

@hotrodlincoln7186 Жыл бұрын
I would say at first I'd go with the kennebell. But, more than likely, I'd go with the vortech. For a few reasons. 1. Like you mentioned, the traction. You see all that tq is going to be putting alot of abuse on your rear-end. Plus, not only that, if you don't have traction, you ain't going no were. 2. Vortech tends not to overheat as much as a kenne bell would. 3. Unless it's going to be a track only car, then yea the kenne all day. But, if it's a daily, then the vortech is better. It's better because you can have just a regular car when just daily driving it normally, but when you want that power, it's there. 4. The amount of gas you're going to be spending with a kennebell supercharger. I've seen some videos on here where you will only be getting 8mpg 10mpg if you baby it. You see with a vortech supercharger as long as you drive normal it's never in boost, and if it's not in boost, then it's not being so hard on your gas. 5. Oh, and for all those that say well the vortech takes longer to rev up in rpms. Well, I got something for that. It's called jmschip by pedalmax. The jmschip does not mess with any tunes, nor is a tune required. Basically, what it does is depending on how you have the dial set on. But like with me, I tend to have mine between 75% and 100%, and man, you barely have to tap the gas, and it just goes. It even down shifts easily even if you're already doing like 75mph. Just look at my videos and see for yourself. Oh by the way the website is called www.Jmschip.com Just sure you choose the pedalmax option as they have many options.

If someone gave me a 4.6l 2v for my bucket I would have to go with the Roots style blower over the gutless at low RPM centrifugal blower, because what I use the bucket for rewards a flat torque curve and instant throttle response over peak power at high RPM.

Ive ran them both! I looooove the kenne bell's torque but man it heat soaked sooo badly. Vor was more traction friendly for the street and blow off sounded cool! Better fuel mileage with the kenne bell though

I'm not really in a place to test and know but about ten years back everyone started making intakes black cause they claimed it disappated heat better. So I can't help but wonder if you black engine enameled all the cold side of the turbo system would it make a measurable difference. And I get it would make a mess. But if you're curious also I would like to see it.

I can tell you as someone who does road racing that I run a harrop TVS 2650 with integral intercooler. While this is very similar to the Kenne Bell I find it superior because if the integral air to water intercooler that I don’t believe the KB has. I would rather for my application have a unit like this all day long as the vortec Will never see 6-8000 RPMs except on the back straight and then only for maybe for 20 seconds. However it lives its life below 4k most if the time where this unit shines. Hell my engine redlines at 6800 so not much room for me to take advantage anyway.

the Kenne Bell has an ATW cooler-and Twin Screw is more efficient than TVS Roots, but the 2650 works well
