I have bought a junkyard Small Block Chevy motor to fit to my Chevrolet Suburban. When I bought it I was told it 'looked' to be in good condition. I bought it from a company in the UK that imports rebuildable core engines.
In this video we tear it down to the bare block and inspect it to see how good or bad it is and to see what work needs to be done to it before it is rebuilt.
