We're taking a wrecked 1988 Jeep Cherokee and fixing it for as little money as possible. We'll show you how to inspect the damage and how to pull the frame back into shape the right way. Then, we'll give it a facelift with some updated sheet metal. In fact, we're spending so little on this project we're calling it our "Cheep Cherokee". #jeep #jeepcherokee

@@Thestockxj96 it was so bad that my friend had it inspected to be sure he could put in as a viable replacement to his dieing 4.0 and the stroking they did was way off and didn't match from cylinder to cylinder. The engine from what I've heard made it another 3,000 miles and killed itself.

I love that you are saving a 2-door. XJs are basically made of papier-mâché when it comes to safety. Remember that these were designed by non-Chrysler AMC in the 70's. The safety cage was for rollovers, not small-offset frontal impacts. XJs never came with CV shafts. Those are from a ZJ and are 100% interchangeable between each other.

It's called "pattern parts". Insurance company often instructs shops to use them to cut cost. The thing is, these pattern parts are often thinner than original steel that came off the factory and the dimensions aren't true to spec either. So if you just want a cheap fix, by all means go for it but if you ask me I'd rather fix the original steel first
