Used to work as a Tool & Diemaker. Another trick to use with a broken bolt counter-drilled off centre. start with a sharp centre-punch. Tap very lightly. If you see your mark off-centre slant your punch and move it to centre. Follow up with a centre-drill or small drill. When you get a centre point hole that a drill will follow, continue with the tap-drill size. When using a tap, put grease in the flutes and most of your cutings will stick in the flutes. Bill

Kevin, something else to consider, that appears to be an SN95 (94-95 5.0) bellhousing. They are vented at the bottom like yours. Which an SN95 bell is about 5/8" longer/deeper than a foxbody bellhousing. You may want to also check and make sure the input shaft bearing retainer AND input shaft on the T5 is either a Fox or SN95 input shaft bearing retainer and input shaft. They're different lengths as well and can be mis-matched easily especially if the car was thrown together like it was. May be some of your odd clutch engagement issues. Maybe. Just something to consider. ~Jesse
@JestersGarage2 жыл бұрын
I kept thinking about this at night. If you need more throw on the cable and no adjustable cable exists (I have no idea) you may want to look into converting that trans to a fox bell, input shaft, and bearing retainer. Will bring everything about 5/8" inch closer. Not sure what your driveshaft situation is right now or if that will cause problems for you. I've also heard of people bending the clutch forks as crazy as that sounds. If you need pics of fox stuff I have some I can get to easily.

All things considered, you guys did a pretty quick revival on this. Lost a ‘61 Olds scenicoupe due to an engine fire. Fan belt broke and knocked off the glass fuel filter bowl. This was around 1974, just another old car back then. Low milage beauty made it a tough loss. Today I’d repair it, burnt the wiring harness up pretty good and scorched the paint on the hood. Around the same time, my buddy bought a ’74 Mustang 2 brand new. Little 4 cylinder took forever to hit freeway speed. I think we hung it out once and it topped out at 85

I had a 75 with a 302 and Headman used to make headers for it. They sucked to put in but were worth it. The rear springs in mine were shot too. Back then (the 80s) we used to just stick a pair of air shocks in and call it fixed. Then when it was time to finish it right, I picked up a new set for something like $200 for the pair. Loved that car and more than anything loved that everyone wrote it off as a POS until I left them in the dust. As for the 4 lugs, I hated them. Must have sheered all eight off a half a dozen times before I found someone to cut down 5 lug axes for it. (We didn't have options like QP back then). Enjoy it, it's a fun car and you can make them handle pretty well too.

This car is badass!!!! Can’t wait to see what’s in store for it next when all the final repairs/tweaks are done.

I miss my 78 Mustang II. Had one as my first car back in 91. Was only a 4cyl and a notch back but lots of great memories. 13" slotted wheels and all. Great video.

Hope the guy that sold this does not watch how easy you made it look to get it running. Probably crying still.

Reminds me of my younger days when I pick up a 77 that needed a motor. Car came with a V6 and I shoehorned a 351 Windsor in it. Thanks for the memories

I've owned 2 of those cars myself and best friend in the /70's had one that we put a beefed up 289 V8 in.....to much trouble for 2 teenagers that didn't what they were doing.....but still love them....good job guys ....keep going

Honestly I used to dislike the mustang II but now I actually really like the fast backs. Especially the King Cobra

That Pavlov's Dog 8 Track is a classic in my area. The guy's voice is high pitched like the singer in RUSH. I like the songs Natchez Trace, Late November, and Julia. Takes me back to the mid 70s.... when those Mustangs started showing up on the roads

1985 was the changeover year for CFI, that timing cover is probably from a CFI motor, but the CFI was removed and a carb installed.
