It has a big dent in the door.... When my dad was doing survivor duty after the Vietnam war, he was pretty upset at one point and punched a big dent in the door of his Plymouth Satellite. I'm sure his hand wasn't feeling great after that. So watching this video is making me think about my Dad.... Rest in peace Dad.

Kevin - the call you made to the original owner of the Satellite is one of those events that effortlessly renews my faith in humanity. Despite the efforts made by some to convince us to the contrary, the number of complete strangers out there who are genuinely decent, engaging, and willing to help us, or accept help from us, vastly overwhelm the small percentage of people who could not be bothered. Plus, it's always great to get the backstory on a cool car you and Mook wrench on - all the best from Wes in Pittsburgh!

You tracking the previous owners down makes me want to do that with my '79 F100. The previous owner said she bought it off her neighbor in the 90s, and beyond that, it's a mystery to me. Sanding it down for fresh paint revealed that it had white pinstriping all over the original paint, with "Bud H." written in script below the driver door window. This video might just motivate me to track Bud down

Hey there Kevin & Mook from Queensland Australia, First of all I have never left comments before so bare with me. I ve been mechanic for about 38 years and in the last couple of years I started to lose my passion for the trade, I found your channel about 12 months ago and have watched almost all of your videos from the beginning, your knowledge and compassion for old vehicles and machinery is fantastic, your in depth explanations are second to none, in saying that I want to thank you because watching you work, brought back many fond memories and I have finally got my passion back for the trade, I have been looking for old machinery and vehicles and have been enjoying myself working on them unfortunatey not all were in good enough condition but the passion is the journey. We dont have the variety of cars here that you guys have but its still fun. So enough of that, listening to your conversation with the original owner just shows how awesome you are and the respect you have for people, keep up the wonderful work and I look forward to watching more from you and Mook, I would love to get over ther one day and meet you in person. Great video Kevin! Those old Mopars don't like to die... The best part about this video is that car was able to tell some of the story of it's life by supplying that partial registration of the 1st owner & and your persistence to dig into the story. Ironically, the name of your channel has always tweaked me in the same way when I'm at the salvage yard and see an interesting car and wondered what stories it would tell if it could.

This video is something I really needed to watch. I just lost my grandfather after he fought for 45 days to stay alive (passed away last night around 11 PM, 3-31-23), and it's been tough coming to terms with the fact he's actually gone now. He had a love and respect for MOPARs that was only rivaled by one of his brothers who we lost in 2018, so seeing an old Plymouth get brought back to life for a second chance on the road is a good reminder of one of the things he loved most about cars: the simple joy of fixing them and driving them. When we found out he had been given a limited frame of time left to live (20 days at most), I switched plans from buying a Pontiac Fiero to restore (my dream car) and brought home a $400 1988 Nissan Sentra sedan that's receiving a ground-up rebuild. Kevin, your videos have helped me stay in the mindset of getting that Sentra on the road so that it can live a new life that it never got to have before. I don't think a simple "Thank you" could cover how much I appreciate your content and everything you do for the cars you save.

My classmate back in NE Nebraska told me about the channel. Was thrilled to find this episode. In '79, when I was 16, purchased a tawny gold metallic '72 Roadrunner for $1200. On my 17th birthday, the 340 threw a rod doing 95mph at midnight. Dropped in a 360 then a 400 with the top end from a 440 magnum. Parked it in the family barn in '87, got it running in '98 and drove it to a friends barn where it has sat since. They finally began to appreciate in early '90's. I have yet to see that body style at a car show. Cannot afford to tow it 500 miles and begin restoration. Maybe someday...

It great seeing old cars come to life. It is crazy that you put a 4 barrel on a 2 barrel manifold and it running so well the second time!

Almost brought tears to my eyes as this video brought back memories of my 72 Challenger which also had a Mopar 318. Of all the cars I've owned over the years the Challenger was the most fun despite all its shortcomings (Carter carburetors suck and points are a PITA, don't even get me started on the freeze plugs 🙄). You're a trooper for fixing all the peripherals and getting it into shape just to pull out of the shop. That coolant leak is ominous though, it's probably internal as well as external. And the seals are probably shot, not telling you anything you don't already know. Am eager for the next video to see if that engine is still road worthy. Very interesting - great content!

Took me a few days to catch it but this kicks so much ass. I dream to have a conversation like that one day when I can snap up an old ride. Such an awesome situation and a sweet ride. Good shit Sir!

Kevin, I think you should pull the 440 out of the boat and swap it I to this Satellite.

Always love the way the 318 sounds. Grew up in a 70 Satellite with a 318 and eventually had it as a teen for a while. Sold it for $500 around 86 as a fully running car with the typical Chrysler electrical anomalies.

Dude. That call to the original owner was fantastic. I caught myself with a grin ear to ear during that convo. I know you will do this car justice. And I can not wait to see this car back in the hands of its original owner. Fantastic video!

You just can't kill those old 318's. Had one that sat up for over 20 years and no lie, fired up (just for a second) first time I hit the key. Made me a Mopar man for sure. Fix her up, drive it a while, and see where the road takes you. Great vid Kevin and Mook.

i had a 74 fury with a 318..overheated it trying to rock it out of a ditch..replaced a few bent pushrods and she ran again for another 5 years until i sold it ..those 318's and slant 6's are hard to tear up

The best part of the Satellite is there a lot of companies selling reproduction body repair panels. So the outer body panels and floors can be removed/replaced with new sheetmetal. This car reminds me of my Dad's 1971 Duster. It was painted the same color orange. I miss my Dad.

I love mopars and have owned many. I like the idea of a cam , headers, and an intake, but you need to put heads on it to make it run. Maybe pistons too if you really wanna go crazy! Good luck!
