This is a 360-degree 'photo sphere', showing the planet Jupiter as viewed from the surface of its moon, Europa. Click inside the image and drag in any direction.
I designed this image, which is scientifically reasonably accurate, for viewing within a VR-enabled headset, such as Samsung's Gear VR.
In the sky you can see, to the left of Jupiter, its innermost big moon Io, and it's largest moon, Ganymede. When viewed in a VR environment, Jupiter subtends an angle of about 12 degrees, which is what you would see if you were on Europa itself. Twelve degrees is roughly 24 times wider than the full Moon seen from Earth. Io and Ganymede are both shown as their correct relative sizes.
Created in 3DS Max 2014. Rendered using V-ray.
