That nightmare scene on the plane could have been scary if done differently. 1. Have the guy be in the dinosaur's mouth, all torn up and bloody, looking dead before looking up and saying "Alan!" 2. Have the dinosaur jump against the planes window a couple times before breaking it and suddenly saying "Alan!" as it shoves its head through. 3. Why the fuck am I writing this the movie has already been made and no one gives a shit anymore

Jax-3636 The "mohawks" were because the producers promised us feathered dinos but didn't have the balls to add anything more than just that little bit. Hell, if they had waited 3 years to start filming, the Spinosaur would have looked MUCH different. Larger forelimbs and shorter hindlimbs. They probably walked like pangolins, and some species may have even used their forelimb knuckles to walk on. They're really really weird dinosaurs. Pop down to "Classification" for a more recent version. I question the addition of piloplumes, but other than that it mostly stands up. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spinosaurus

Although it was larger than T-rex, Spinosaurus had shorter legs and a weaker bite, so it probably wouldn't be able to win a fight with a Tyrannosaurus rex, which would only be able to meet in a place like Jurassic Park since they lived several million years apart and on separate continents. The Raptors are hunting like wolves. Wolves will close in on their prey, but won't attack until the prey runs because it makes it easier to isolate the weakest slowest target
@amanibob14166 жыл бұрын
Timothy Creighton Plus they will not venture toward same-size foes/prey if in same or similar numbers, so yeah, they're pack-minded, more prone to just wait, isolate and THEN "thin the herd" by hunting a single victim, preferably the weak, sick o handicapped one first. Being more ravenous in the first Jurassic Park would be logical since they weren't "free range chicken" and "caged ol' Yeller" would definitely be the result of a bunch of Cheetah being, (duuuh), caged, poked and prodded all their life/lives...
@LegendPurpleDragon1526 жыл бұрын
Timothy Creighton and Amani Bob True. But here’s the thing. They also did that in the first movie, in one of the last scenes when the Big One and the Beta had Grant, Sattler and the kids cornered in the foyer of the visitor’s center. But big difference between that and this? They still went for the kill when they were sure that they had them cornered. Here they’re not even hunting them, they’re just...talking. Every time they corner the humans they just stand around and talk. And yeah its easier to isolate the weaker targets when they’re running, but what about that scene with Grant? He was the only one there and he was surrounded. And they still didn’t attack! Just talked! I get what they were trying to do, but they still did it poorly
@amanibob14166 жыл бұрын
Andrew Mason I will Point out that in the OG, in Jurassic Park, "clever girl" Muldoon, (the one guy who was hired and employed due to his experience as a hunter and his vast knowledge on "dangerous animals in cages". That "smart" guy took a shotgun equiped with slugs for munition to kill Raptors... In Crichton's Jurassic Park, (the book), Muldoon always respected, (and hated), the Raptors for their "kill ze everyone" mindset, so when he got a chance, he just owned their tailed ass with, (I'm smiling just thinking about it), a tube that send missiles, (self-propelled explosive rockets). Yeah, rocket/missile launcher... Muldoon said he needed to be able to neutralize all threats, or he'd quit. Hammond didn't know who else could be half as good for the job, so Muldoon got his boomstick and little friend. He, alone, was equiped sufficiently well, but number was just making it impossible for him to deal with a PACK of raptors. He lived through the whole thing in the book, after "recruiting" a few civilians to help him. Now "movie Muldoon" was in the first Jurassic Park and during his encounter with the "original" Raptors, he was going out of his way to avoid such an ill-fated encourer. Sooo, at some point, Muldoon is alone and hear some noise. No civilians to be harmed, a sure threat was all he could expect and he's got A GUN!!! But alas, poor Muldoon was suddenly and fatally changed into a horror movie protagonist. First he didn't use his gun, instead, he turned his FACE toward the source of the noise and thought of something quick-witted and badass to say, you know, just maybe INSTEAD doing or even just trying any and all things to stay frickin alive! Him, stating as she attack, that there's a "Clever girl"..." Is a good scene, but if you think about the book's epic version of Muldoon, a fusion of Rambo, and Crocodile Dundee, being killed like a noob.. Wuuuut!? A Raptor, a killing/eating machine was literally two, at most three feet away from him and he just LOOKED AT IT!!! So, yeah, Raptor(s) waiting before kill-ambushing some fool(s) isn't like some "NEW THING"and dinomovie doing whatever, isn't new either. Sure, the Raptors "got him", but their usual method: "run, claw, bite, kill and eat stuff" is a on/off thing. Jurassic Park 3 is a piece of sh*t, but, in some bits/scenes, it IS an entertaining movie. Fun, if only for those rare and few parts, but these Raptors being weird didn't "ruin the movie" for me, simply because: A) Raptors were always weird and plot-convenient, no matter when. B) As a piece of sh*t, Jurassic Park 3 isn't something that can be "ruined" because of something that is clearly a recurring thing. C)I didn't mind the mohawk. That being said, Jurassic Park 3 isn't a good movie, but I'm just pointing out that the scene in the kitchen, with multiple Raptors being unable to smell, hunt, find and kill two kids, is memorable for the tension, but you compare how two kids can survive and Muldoon couldn't...

As someone who worked as a visual effects artist at Industrial Light & Magic on Jurassic Park III, I thought your review was hysterical. The wonderful thing about working in visual effects is that you get to create movie magic. The down side is that you seldom know if the film you're creating that magic for is itself magical until the film is released. You can work for six months to a year or more on a project and not know if it's any good until the film hits theaters. You usually only see your portion of it, out of sequence, and without sound. Sometimes it's a winner like Galaxy Quest (which I worked on). Other times it's a hot steaming mess like Wild Wild West (a bullet I dodged at ILM). But JP3 holds a special spot for me. It's not a great film. It knows it's not a great film. As we were working on it we could sense it was not a great film. And yet it's a fun film. A cliched, goofy, ridiculous, contrived popcorn flick. It was a blast to work on and pure childish fun to watch. I'll be honest, I was not a huge fan of the original Jurassic Park. Groundbreaking effects, but kind of a sappy story in my opinion. Didn't work on it (I was at LucasArts at the time). Those who I knew at ILM that had worked on the effects for Lost World made me swear never to see the film and I've kept that vow. But in spite of everything you've said about JP3 being 100% true, I still get a kick out of the movie. I'm delighted to have been a part of it's making (in fact your video included a boatload of my shots which is rather cool). It's the kind of movie you watch with a bunch of your friends so you can all yell in unison "Oh, come on!" Thanks for this review. Thank you for the wonderful skewering you gave it. Stumbled across your channel just the other day. Count me as a new subscriber. C. Andrew Nelson / Aquatasy

Ben Johnson I wasn't a VFX supervisor on JP3. I was a compositor, matte painter, and rotoscoper on that particular project. Jim Mitchell was the VFX supe for JP3. The film was blast. We had a wonderful crew at Industrial Light & Magic working on it, most of whom had previously worked together on Galaxy Quest. I was assigned several very challenging shots for the film including the demise of the spinosaurus in the rain. I don't know how things were on the production side because I never visited set, but in post-production at ILM we kept everything rather lighthearted. I recall we ended up doing a lot more shots than we had planned on because director Joe Johnston decided to replace a lot of the animatronic dinos that Stan Winston Studios did with CG versions. That meant frame-by-frame painstakingly removing the animatronic puppets that were in the camera footage so that a CG version could be composited in.

I love how shoehorned in the Spinosaurus is in this movie, I know it's technically bigger than the T-Rex, but did they give even a half second to how the other physical attributes attributed to it's diet? even back then it was obvious that it's long snout was more for hunting fish than huge animals. Plus it's the Mother Fucking T-Rex, THE most recognizable dinosaurs EVER, you can't just say that this long snouted fish eater can kill something with one of THE strongest maws ever to have walk this earth.

Honestly I don't know why everyone hates Spinosaurus just because of this movie. It's the writer's fault Spinosaurus killed T Rex. Plus Spinosaurus is one of the most interesting dinosaurs, both in real life and in the Jurassic Park Franchise, I don't see why people hate on one of the most unique and interesting dinosaurs ever discovered just because it killed off their favorite dinosaur in a mediocre sci-fi sequel to a much better sci-fi movie. Now don't get me wrong, T Rex is my favorite dinosaurs as well, but it was nice to see a different dinosaur get the spotlight for a change even if it was scientifically inaccurate (Spinosaurus survived mostly on fish and spent most of it's time either in or near the water) the T Rex vs Spino fight was okay but 3 things would have made it a lot better. Number 1, the fight should have been a lot longer. Number 2, the fight should have been saved until the end of the movie. Number 3, and yes the T Rex should have won.

The Spinosaurus was tossed in there to basically replace T-rex and show that T-rex was obsolete. It proceeds to ram this point into the ground by slaughtering the first T-rex it sees, seeking them out for no reason other than it apparently hates T-rexes, chasing down a plane to its crash site within minutes, slamming through giant fences, and tanking several shots of Cooper's uber gun. Anyone who ever saw Jurassic Park as a kid and then Lost World would always say that either the Raptor or the T-Rex are their favorite dinosaurs of all time. The Spino, even if it's factually larger than the T-Rex, coming in and killing a T-Rex, effectively making it clear the developers want to replace it with a new badass dino to somehow try to make it more appealing for new audiences and by trying to use a new dinosaur be modern. For me, some it was nothing short of betrayal... that's why I consider Jurassic World to be the most worthy successor to the original JP because it reintroduces the T-Rex of the original movie and has it reclaim the throne fans constructed for it. It even has a scene where it crushes a Spinosaurus skeleton, an obvious nod to the fans that the developers of the movie also didn't like the T-Rex being replaced by Spino. You can't just tear off the label of your franchise like that. Not only that, Spinosaurus overall was terribly represented and portrayed, inaccurate. One of the main reasons why JP3 is the most hated JP movie.
@johnanthony7027 жыл бұрын
Spinosaurus Aegyptiacus I sort of agree with you but with all due respect, back then we had limited information about Spinosaurus, all we had back then was it was bigger than T. Rex, it's a carnivore, and it's probably better than Tyrannosaurus. Then as years passed, we got more fossils and more information that it feeds usually on fish and sometimes it scavenges dead dinos and it would definitely held its ground to put up a fight. Tbf and tbh I saw this as a kid and I always thought Spinosaurus was awesome especially since he kind of took over. I just dream one day that he fights Indominous Rex, if not oh well. Still a special dinosaur. =D

You know, Critic is inadvertently right about the Spinosaurus beating the T-Rex. The T-Rex, even though lighter and shorter, was much more of a fighter than a Spinosaurus. Spinosaurus would have to use the big claws on its hands to keep the T-Rex at a distance because its teeth were designed to grab onto and hold fish, but if the T-Rex got its mouth on something, the Spino would, without a doubt, lose it. T-Rex's head and jaws were fucking huge, basically made of muscle and teeth, and designed for the express purpose of killing whatever was unlucky enough to be in its clutches.

I have no problem with there being predatory dinosaurs which could kill T-rex, for example acrocanthosaurus would be a perfect dinosaur that could be used to kill T-rex, since it was specialized to kill big dinosaurs such Sauropods using cutting bites and manoeuvrability and T-rex was specialized to killing smaller dinosaurs through crushing force.

NickyVendetta The whole "young T. rex" thing is not, and has never been canon. It's just some rationalization by desperate rex fans for why their favourite dinosaur was beaten. Furthermore, it's just as likely that the spinosaurus was not fully grown either, since it was only marginally larger than an average T. rex. It's also been confirmed that it was a weaponized hybrid meaning that when fully grown it could probably still beat Rexy for the same reasons the Indominus could.

I think it's fair to mention that the point that happened at 23:33 where the raptors are scoping them out is probably how all the dinosaurs in the FIRST movie should have acted to humans FROM THE BEGINNING. Predators don't usually attack and eat everything they see. They tend to be wary and unsure when they encounter something they haven't eaten yet, even if it's obviously smaller than them. Once they figure out a type of creature is edible though, they'll usually be a lot less hesitant to attack. So by the third movie, they should pretty much understand that humans are edible, and be slaughtering the group of four as quickly as they did all those mercs in the second movie in the tall grass.

I think what Critic was trying to get at in his review is that ALL T-Rexes should be considered MF. I understand what the filmmakers were trying to do - they were trying to give us a new and exciting dinosaur to get amped up over -- but regardless of whether a particular T-Rex lives on Site A or not, the T-Rexes in Jurassic Park are just so iconic and badass that the idea of having any other dino come along and defeat them feels wrong, at least in my opinion. No hate for Spino fans, but that's just how I feel about it.

Many people shit on the "Alan" moment, but it surprisingly makes sense. Earlier in the movie, Grant was talking to a parrot and saying "say Alan, my name is Alan, say Alan!", and the bird doesn't respond. Then the moment on the plane, it gets a response! it was actually a moment of foreshadowing of the relationship between dinosaurs and birds!. Still shitty execution tho.

Scientifically, there's no way Spinosaurus could kill T-Rex. T-Rex was a hunter/scavenger with jaws that could crush bone. Spinosaurus was a fishing dinosaur that had jaws designed to slurp down fish. Spino's jaws were not designed to eat dinosaurs. The jaws were too frail. T-Rex's jaws crushed bone and T-Rex's neck was powerful and muscular, strong enough to negate the necessity to have arms.

That fight actually made no sense. Spinosaurus is actually mostly aquatic! Its like a shark vs a lion. It doesn't work. In water, Spinosaurus would destroy a Tyrannosaurus due to adaptations like huge teeth adapted because it didn't need lips and... lots of teeth, but on land, Spinosaurus could barely move, let alone Tyrannosaurus's adaptations like emu-like fluff allowing it not to bake like cookies on Venus in the sun and lips allowing for wet teeth and bone-crushing jaws could destroy a Spino on land. By the way, Spino is actually a very interesting animal. It's the only primarily aquatic dinosaur other than ducks, hesperornis, and other avialans (which, by the way, does not mean "bird", bird is actually incredibly undefined www.eartharchives.org/articles/what-are-birds/ )!
@ARGAtheropodfan8 жыл бұрын
