Jurassic Park and World need to stop making their star dinosaur, the T.rex, continuously lose fights against the Spinosaurus, Indominus Rex and Giganotosaurus. It’s getting repetitive and old.

People will disagree either me and say giga is larger than t rex but really that is outdated garbage from 1980s/90s and I'm surprised thatso many people still believe in that stuff. and yes dominion was an absolute waste of time and resources and actually i will regret saying this but in terms of story and plot JP3 is better than JWD. I can genuinely say Jurassic Park and The Lost World managed to make the T-rex way more terrifying compared to the next follow up's. It's pretty understandable that it lost to the Indominus Rex in a fight because it's a hybrid. But losing it to the Giganotosaurus made absolutely no sense.

I blame Jack Horner. In the mid-00s he put out a mean-spirited study that downplayed the T. Rex’s predation habits. As a framework, he makes good points-obviously an apex carnivore is not going to pass over an easy meal. That’s just simple logic. Especially juvenile and adolescent T. Rex. @oblivionfan345Tony It was a confused animal in an unfamiliar environment. We didn't see it go on a big indiscriminate killing spree, we saw it either ignore or just threaten humans when it first broke out of the ship. We saw it act like an animal, biting things unfamiliar to it and prioritising it's offspring once it knew it was nearby. We only saw it kill one guy, after which it didn't carry on chasing and killing, it just ate it's kill.

I feel like rampaging when nobody on earth can ever use the effing proper name-TYRANNOSAURUS. Do you call Stego saurus S.stenops or Ankylosaurus A.magniventris or Allosaurus A-fragilis? No, so what's the deal?! Yes "JP2" is the best of the lot, but that's more to do with the fact it actually gave the plant eaters screen time and let a whopping Stegosaurus herd defend THEIR baby, a Triceratops smash up a camp, a Parasaurlophus life up 2 human losers via the rope they were trying to lasso him with (though predictably did not have him throw, toss and trample them-yawn! and had Pachycephalosaurus ram a prick in a jeep. Of course it was all over in seconds whereas the meat-eater attacks were typically draw out. Of course Tyrannosaurus was extremely unlikely to pair-bond and defend a baby like this, but it was great to watch, and one of the better creative liberties out there, unlike this persistent hell with these mis-named, over-sized featherless gang-groupie Deinonychus that aren't even called their own name!

One thing I love about the first two films is that the T-Rex(s) aren't just cool but they're also scary. There's this feeling of dread around them that whenever you see them you know bad stuff is gonna happen and people are gonna die. I really wish they would bring back that fear factor of them. What would also be cool would be if each of the dinosaurs got they're own scene to themselves like the Theri did to showcase how deadly they are and have characters be in real danger. Kind of like how in Peter Jackson's king kong each creature got its own screen time to showcase how dangerous the wildlife of skull island is. Imagine if the Carno got the same treatment the Allo got with battle at bigrock, the poor thing just feels like a pushover.

I think a neat middle ground would be to keep Rexy as the sort of weird anti-hero dinosaur that she is (feels really weird to say that but technically it is true), where she can get along with and even protect humans sometimes, but then at the same time have those scary T-Rexes in the film(s) as well. Have her or any "good" T-Rex in general challenge a more scary aggressive T-Rex even. Like now that I think about it, they focus on these "big, bad" dinosaur fights yet we haven't see a T-Rex fight another T-Rex, why??????? That feels like a huge missed opportunity, that would be insanely cool

Paleontologists seem to want to run with theories from time to time. They got tired of T-Rex so they took 5 bones of a new specimen and decided that that guy was going to be the new king of the jungle. Up until the 1960's the scientific community wanted to believe that Dinosaurs were slow exothermic reptiles, instead of agile endothermic archosaurs.

It made some sense in Jurassic World for Roberta to get help from Blue, because the I-Rex was essentially designed to outdo the T-Rex in size, aggression and agility. But it was so disappointing that she didn't beat the Giganotosaurus on her own in Dominion. Colin Trevorrow tried to explain the decision with the fact that the average lifespan of a T-Rex is 28 years, putting her near the end of her natural life. But that doesn't work because in Fallen Kingdom, Zia said that the conditions the rex lived under would extend her lifespan, potentially fivefold.

Rexy would still be pushing her limits at this point though. It’s been 30 years since she’d been “created” (for lack of a better word off the top of my head). So she getting old and slow. Does it suck to see her need help in a fight? Yes. Does it mean she has to lose without help? No, not at all.

I mean, in CC, they had Big Eatie absolutely kick Spino's ass and they had Rexy smash the Tarbo. People would watch the films more than the series. The director is the reason. Colin Trevorrow is the guy who looks for "Bigger Badder" dinosaurs(No disrespect) while Scott Kreamer actually knows how to make a rex what it's supposed to be.

Definitely agree with you. I didn't really think about the issue of the T. rex not being made to seem ferocious in Jurassic World until you brought it up. It would've been so much cooler if the T. rex wasn't pulled as this last minute hail mary hero, and instead broke out earlier and showed that it was also a huge, dangerous predator by eating people and terrorizing the main characters. Imagine seeing both the I. rex and T. rex causing chaos across the island only to meet up on main street and duke it out as two equally terrifying monsters. Unfortunately it seems like Jurassic World has been made too family friendly and commercialized nowadays, it's not the dinosaur horror it used to be.

To be fair, it is exactly *because* of the Rex's reputation as the King of the Dinosaurs that makes it such a prime target to show off the new "bigger and badder" dinosaur. After two Jurassic films (and in most Dino-media as a whole, let's be honest) of the Rex being an unstoppable badass, it only made sense at the time to use the animal as an example to show the audience just how powerful the new Spinosaurus was back in JPIII. While I agree that the trend of "dethroning the king" has probably run its course, let's not forget that the Rex always has been and probably always will be the dominant mascot of, not just the Jurassic franchise, but all of Dino-media in pop culture. It isn't just the King of the Dinosaurs. It is the ultimate embodiment of our prehistoric world. That isn't likely to change.

The sad fact is, anytime the series introduces a new big dino we're supposed to be scared of, they have to have it beat up a T-rex just to show how threatening it is. It's like how in a superhero movie, to show how much of a threat the villain is the director will have the villain completely trounce the hero single-handedly, going 'Look how badly the hero was beaten. However will he/she win?' Only to then have the villain and his army of minions defeated handily by the hero. What's even more infuriating about it is that aside from the I-Rex, which was completely man-made and has no real-world counterpart, the dinos that they do this for couldn't beat T-Rex in real life even if time travel did happen and they found themselves face to face. And NO, Giganotosaurus was not the 'largest' predator to ever exist. Spinosaurus was the longest, at 14 meters, while T-Rex was the heaviest. It's difficult to get an accurate weight for a dinosaur, but the most recent estimates put T-Rex at around 9 tonnes, with the Giganotosaurus holotype specimen (there have only ever been 2 Giganotosaurus specimens found) coming in at around 7 tonnes. While it is possible that a larger specimen could be found, Giganotosaurus had a lighter build than T-Rex so it's likely even the largest individuals would have weighed less than the largest T-rex individuals.

Also one of the biggest problems is that the movie makers expect the general audience to know as much about the movies as the Fans. A lot of the time they argued that the T.rex wasn't nerfed and that it mostly loses because "Rexy" has been getting old.....problem is, the general audience doesn't know that so from their perspective the main dinosaur of this franchise is nothing but a push over. And they depict the rex more as an antihero than as an apex predator able to hold its own against other top carnivores and surviving as an apex predator in its environment. I mean, just looking at the fossil record, T. rex was predating and fighting other animals in its weight class - Triceratops, Torosaurus, large adult Edmontosaurs, Alamosaurus, Ankylosaurus, and of course other T. rexes of the same size too! Bob Bakker said it best, T. rex was a scrapper. And that virtually ALL T. rexes found show that these animals were litterally beat to hell throughout their lives, and carried these scars and injuries in their flesh and skeletons! So IF Jurassic really is going forward with more projects, the T. rex needs to be a T. rex again!

@@Achilles374 Leaving Spinosaurus aside because it’s not suited to hunt terrestrial prey, you’re ignoring that bite force is NOT the only measure of a predator’s killing power. Giganotosaurus isn’t any worse or less effective at killing things compared to Tyrannosaurus. It just kills in different ways. Tyrannosaurus is built to latch on with its jaws and physically subdue its prey (the idea of it instakilling prey by crushing their necks doesn’t fit with its muscular bulk, which would be unnecessary for a predator that had no need for a prolonged struggle); Giganotosaurus is built to kill stuff by cutting through their vitals, and by relying on its neck muscles to vertically drive its upper jaw into prey as the lower jaw closes to assist with this; it doesn’t NEED a devastating bite force because all that power is coming from the neck moving the head around instead. Giganotosaurus isn’t a “lesser” predator compared to the “King of the Dinosaurs”, but an animal that mastered another way of killing large animals that made it just as deadly as the so-called king. In fact, in terms of prey size it could actually kill larger prey, though it’s not as good at hunting armoured prey.

@@bkjeong4302 Hey bro, enjoyed reading your comment and in fact I agree with just about everything you said, unlike the other commenter. They were both apex predators with different specializations. Saying the Rex is the king of the dinosaurs is akin to saying the African Lion is king of animals today.. rather than say, the Siberian Tiger. It's not to say that the lion is a superior predator. It's simply a title based on having the greatest notoriety in our society as an apex that wouldn't fear other species. And that's why I pointed it out to Malik, who seems to suggest that it's not as "deadly" as other predators that have been discovered. Both the Rex and the Giga are impressive animals, who excelled in their environments, and no new discoveries have really taken away from that.

Well, Camp Cretaceous still used some sort of “T.rex losing battle” in their dinosaur battles at times, but I have to say,it handled better than the film, especially Dominion. Here are my thoughts. CCS5: One might argue that the long awaited rematch between Spinosaurus and T.rex was underwhelming, since it was mostly a Dinosaur Brawl in the first part, and then it ended rather quickly in the second match. However, I appreciate the fact that the controlled Spinosaurus did not overpower Big Eatie until Daniel had all the other controlled species gang on Little Eatie, making Big Eatie distracted. As for the later part, although making Little Eatie teaming up with Big Eatie was not as epic as it seem,it was at least reasonable,as there are theories that speculates “T.rex might hunt in family unit.” Although it was a shame that we did not get to see the family wreck Spinosaurus more before the Spinosaurus retreat in defeat. Hidden Adventure: Although one can argue that Rexy still needed a distraction made by Darius to overpower Tarbo,it should be noted that Rexy managed to defeat the Tarbo all by herself after the distraction, instead of shoving the Tarbo into another dinosaur’s claws. As for Dominion, while I love and welcome the idea of “Making Spinosaurus the Helper”. I believe it would work best if: 1.Having Spinosaurus appearing beforehand, probably striking a balance with Rexy after several conflicts. Showing it also being bullied by the Giga. 2. Make Rexy a better combatant,in which she managed to hold her own, even gaining an upper hand at first. 3.Have the Prologue revamped entirely, instead of showing an inaccurate rivalry, make the Prologue show T.rex being “The King of Dinosaurs” in its full glory by having it hunt and kill and Triceratops.

I'm not annoyed about Rexy needing help to beat the Indominus. Like, she's pretty old by that point and the Irex is literally a genetically modified, hyper intelligent killing machine. I didn't think that the dino fight was to "make up" for JP3. Like Rexy breaks through the Spinosaurus skeleton, that's kind of enough. And Rexy getting help from a raptor is a neat callback to the first movie where she kills the raptors at the end, whereas in this they just kind of tip their hats and go one their way. But I was extremely annoyed that they didn't let Rexy kill the Giganotosaurus by herself. We could have had the scene earlier where they have a little scuffle and Rexy backs off because it's not worth fighting over, but then at the end she should have gotten to kill the giga without needing help and earn rightful title as queen. Not just that it’s more accurate since they did live with each other, but triceratops is a super popular herbivore, at best equal to T. rex in popularity, and you see many depictions of them fighting each other in other media, so why not a movie give it to us at long last? I blame it on Jack Horner. In JP3 he decided that the trex wasn't cool anymore and that it needed to be killed off and then it became a horrible tradition of coming up with a new dinosaur that is "cooler" and "stronger" than the trex. Also Horner went on an unprovoked smear campaign against the trex, putting out theories that trex were lazy and slow moving scavengers incapable of hunting or even running, essentially calling trex the rubbish disposal of the cretaceous. Most of his hate theories against the trex are now discredited. They found plenty of hadrosaur and triceratops bones which show signs of healing from trex bites, which undeniably suggests trex were active hunters and most likely opportunistic scavengers as well since skull scans suggest they had extremely well developed sense of smell. I don't know what the trex did to piss of Horner so much but he acts like his wife ran off with a trex or something.

I left a comment on this video already, but rewatching this, I realized something; Jurassic Park, The Lost World, and Jurassic World were the only ones that got the T-Rex RIGHT! I know you might be asking, "...wait, Rexy got just ass beat in Jurassic World! How is that getting it right?!" Well, let me explain. Jurassic Park set the stage on how epic and fearsome the animal was supposed to be. She could LITERALLY break through walls, obliterate trees simply by running through them, and one thing I don't really hear people mentioning is the fact that despite her massive size, she could move about VERY stealthily when she wanted, which was any time she was ACTIVELY hunting. She snuck up on the flock of gallies, taking one down to eat, then she did the exact same thing to the raptors at the end of the movie. People say that Grant and the others should have heard her coming, but it had already been established (accurately, I might add) that Rexy is an AMBUSH HUNTER. This is how they track and kill their prey. Yes, she absolutely can move around quietly, because if she doesn't, she will not be a successful hunter and those that do not kill, do not eat, and subsequently do not live. So, that was the establishing characteristics of the animal that made her so terrifying and formidable thanks to the events in the first movie. Now, onto the Lost World. As it should have, the Lost World built on the dynamics of the T-Rex that had already been laid out, but more than that, it expanded on it, and I don't JUST mean by adding more of them. It wasn't a gimmick or fan service, it was an integral part of thur plot. We got to see a T-Rex family and the structure of such a relationship. We got to see more of these animals beyond just being monstrous killing machines. They actually cared good each other. You realize that in fact these aren't the monsters they appear to be, as Grant said, they are just animals and this movie really helped to put that on display and in perspective. These were parents protecting their child and a vulnerable child that survives shortly under that protection. We are reminded that the rexes didn't emerge into this world as the behemoth that it is, it had to grow into the role. There was a point in the adults' lives that THEY were that vulnerable infant, but they survived and are starting the cycle anew. It's a snapshot of the circle of life and the position they play in it, because every living thing has a place therein. From beginning to end, everyone has a place on the timeline of life. ...and that brings us to Jurassic World. In that movie, the all-powerful T-Rex had been captured and imprisoned. Moreover, despite how it appeared outwardly, she was not being cared for well AT ALL! I believe you were the one that pointed it out, but when the rex, the ORIGINAL rex from the FIRST movie stepped fully onto the scene, we were able to see that, or at least we should have. I know I didn't and that was because it was an absolute THRILL and JOY just seeing her again! On top of that, when she made her full debut, she was as fearfully impressive as she was the first time we saw her. This IS the t-rex! A creature so impressive and awe inspiring that even when she is unwell, she is still every bit a badass as ever! But, just with the baby in the second movie, we are made to realize/remember that she is a living creature and just as one is vulnerable in youth, they revisit that vulnerability in old age. At this point in the series, Rexy is roughly 30 years old. Although we don't know for certain what the developmental cycle of this animal is, it's assumed that she is getting old. Still, old as she is, she is STILL a powerful force to be reckoned with. She will STILL kill you if she is given the chance. She is still the queen and the filmmakers KNEW THIS and RESPECTED IT! This is why they had to stack the odds against her. Let's face it, on an even playing field, Rexy would have dominated, but as she was, she was not as strong and robust as she used to be. She's older (#1), she was in confinement and therefore unable to move about. It's because of this that even though she looked strong, she was in fact very weak (#2). Still, it wasn't enough to impair her ability exercise, they also starved her (#3). Rexy was virtually emaciated. It was like they were feeding her ONE goat a day. Her bones were so incredibly pronounced and the lack of muscle and muscle definition was so apparent when I watched it again, but yet again, she was still so incredible that I didn't even notice! On top of all that, they didn't put her up against another dinosaur, they LITERALLY had to create a monster to even stand a chance (#4). No dinosaur in the park was a threat to her, even with the assorted handicaps they imposed upon her. It was like Godzilla vs Mecha Godzilla; there was no monster on the planet that could subdue him. In order to bring him down, they had to design a robot that had the ability to overpower him. To make a long story short, in order to take Rexy down, they had to cripple her to do it. On her own on a fair playing field, she could have done it, but as she was, she was just too debilitated to fight back for long and that's why she needed the assist from Blue. Blue, after turning on Owen, needed an act of redemption, too. What better way to show that she's a little force of her own than to breakup the most powerful creature in the JP universe. But even then, they respected Rexy enough to know that she wouldn't need any help if she went head to toe with a villainous beast at her full strength. Blue NEEDED this! This fight was to give get a chance to make up for what us humans perceived as a betrayal. It wasn't, of course, just as with all animals, they don't have the values of man, they act upon their own instinct and learning. Rexy didn't need the battle so much as she deserved it! The T-Rex had been out of the spotlight for far too long and after the disrespect of the third movie, I thought this was a fitting return to the big screen. The subtle nod to the third movie (something you also pointed out to me), when she completely obliterated the spinosaurus fossil, it was symbolic. She came in to fix a wrong that had been made against her species and I was 100% here for it! Seeing her in action, sick as she was, and not even noticing her frailty is in itself a testament to her impressive being. On any other animal, it would have been apparent, but for her, I was absolutely oblivious to it. She is STILL THE QUEEN and none of those three movies robbed her of that crown. Heck, even Blue bowed down to her in the end. Blue wasn't injured at all, she could have challenged her, but even as beaten and battered as she was, Blue knew better than to even think about it and stepped away gracefully. The final shot of the movie was of Rexy ascending to the mountaintop, surveying her kingdom, and reclaiming her rightful place on the throne and that's why I think Jurassic World also got it right. ✌ ...also, Camp Cretaceous genuinely made me scared for those kids in a few episodes, but that would take too long to go into. For the most part, the rexes in this series were honestly terrifying and I have to give them credit for pulling that off. Well done. ✌

I saw many people making reimaginations of the final battle in Dominion with Spinosaurus being the “Helper”.While I adore and love these reimaginations. I think this work best if Spinosaurus had already being foreshadowed or even appeared in earlier part of the film. For example, having characters explaining that Spinosaurus came later than Rexy, and that they had several territorial conflicts. After that, Spino took residence in the wetland area, which implied that Rexy was the Victor of these conflicts and both managed to strike a balance. As well as showing the characters actually encountering Spinosaurus, seeing it being bullied by Giganotosaurus. In addition, showing Rexy actually holding her own against Giga, even gradually winning the battle until her ages caught up on her, which Giga managed to utilize and overpowered Rexy. Aside from that, I also see few people trying to make a reimagination video of Dominion Prologue, which I hope to be revamped entirely. In my reimagination, the Prologue would be far more accurate than the official Version (Although still not as accurate as Prehistoric Planet) with most of the species being replaced by Hell Creek and Ojo Alamo species with some new add-ins. In my reimagination of the Prologue, instead of showing an ancient rivalry that was quite inaccurate to begin with,I would like to show T.rex as this “Undisputed King of Dinosaurs” in her full glory,in which it would hunt and kill a bull Triceratops rather than being killed by a Giganotosaurus. The mosquito would not suck the blood from a dying T.rex, but from a resting T.rex after it giving the food to her youngs.Furthermore,I might also feature a Pectinodon hunting prehistoric mammals to show “Dinosaurs were the dominant species of Cretaceous America”. All of these are to create a contrast between Cretaceous and Modern Times: T.rex was the King of the Dinosaurs, but now she became the hunted and would face large theropods from other areas recreated by genetic technology,as well as dinosaurs trying to fit in a new ecosystem that is dominated by mammals.

I’m actually working on a fan rewrite of dominion which incorporates things like the Dx disease and overall better fits with the themes the franchise has been about to me. Here’s a synopsis for anyone curious. Remember: WIP. Dinosaurs have spread out across the globe, causing an ecological disaster as a mysterious disease threatens to wipe the dinosaurs and humanity off the face of the Earth. Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler and Ian Malcolm work to uncover the origins of this disease while Owen Grady and Claire Dearing desperately search for a cure to save their adopted daughter, eventually culminating in a climactic conclusion which will decide the fate of the world.

@KlaytonFioriti I actually liked seeing Spinosaurus make an appearance in the JP movies. To me, it felt refreshing to see a new dinosaur that was presented to be as formidable as the T Rex, so I’d be one of the few people to advocate for Spinosaurus’ return to the franchise and didn’t fully recognize why JP fans didn’t like him. However, your commentary on how they handle the T Rex vs Spino fight scene gave me a different perspective on the matter. I see that, maybe, Universal could have met in the middle with the fans and instead draw out the fight with them a little longer and put both the Rex and Spino in a stalemate with Spino being faster in reflexes and more agile and T Rex having high endurance and brute strength. Both remain equal in ferocity. Additionally, they could have played off an ending where they fought again and the losing dinosaur would forfeit the fight and flee as a fight or flight response. That’s just my take on the matter. Maybe it would have made JP3 better, maybe it would not have changed things. I’m simply advocating for Spinosaurus because I feel that I see T Rex in these movies so often that it feels like these movies will start to become boring over time without a new dinosaur to raise the stakes on the story. I do agree, however, that a major reason for Jurassic Park/World losing what made these movies so magical and terrifying is the dinosaurs being defanged and treated like animals that can be tamed and trained. I also see that Dominion wasted a really great opportunity in storytelling. The books and JP trilogy expressed the extreme dangers of the dinosaurs escaping the islands and the chaos that would ensue in the world with the end of the first book showing a brief glimpse of the horrors to the scenario and the second movie giving a good sample on a bigger scale w/ T Rex in San Diego only for Dominion to turn a full 180 and present the dinosaurs as a big nuisance to humanity and having no effect on the ecosystems of modern day. It’s because of that that I feel Dominion really cheated me out on the story and makes Ian Malcolm look as though he made it a bigger deal than it really was.

JP franchise decided to Worf effect the T-rex to the extreme to the point where in the JP/JW lore its the weakest of the large therapods. I would like the point out that many of the therapods you point out as being bigger aren't really that much bigger. Often their size over T-rex is length and that's about it. Height Giga and Carchara weren't that much higher and weighed less and weren't as powerful. Since JP3 it's like the people creating the movies decided it wasn't a predator living and surviving amongst the most dangerous armoured herbivores that lived during that point in time.

I think one of the fatal flaws of JP3 is having that fight so early. I was under the assumption that's the fight the movie would close on while having the T. Rex "save" the humans from a rampaging Spinosaurus. I quickly realized, upon seeing the Rex so early in the movie, that's not what was going to happen, sadly. As far as the JW films. I am okay with what they did with the T. Rex. My only real complaint about JW and JWD was that we didn't get enough Rex and the final battle in Dominion was not showing the audience more of the fight while also not giving us more Giganotosaurus.

Jurassic World fucked over the dinosaur's identities by making them these hero characters that magically assist the cast coincidentally without any consequence, and in Blue's case, beings that can be reasoned with using language and gestures. The whole crux of the Jurassic franchise is dinosaurs interacting with an environment they were never supposed to exist in. They're wild animals.

I'm just going to say other Mega therapods can be perceived as cool without putting down the T-Rex, for an example Acrocanthosaurus (one of my personal favorites) could be way more terrifying than T-Rex, spino or giga because of how fast it could run. (Now most people debate on how fast it can run with some saying it can run 25 miles others saying 39 miles) but regardless most can agree that's faster than most Mega theropods and that is terrifying because it means you physically can't outrun it it's also the most intimidating looking out of all the others. All in all it's big and fast now you just need to give it a scary scene and have a character die and now you have one of the best mega theropods in Jurassic franchise. Without it killing the T-Rex.

I do agree with you that The Lost World was the best sequel at portraying T.rex and overall, it has the most focus on T.rex in the franchise, but you have to acknowledge the first Jurassic Park with the sense of amazing wonder and rush of adrenaline and chills you feel when you see the T.rex for the first time in the movie, when it then steps onto the road and roars for the first time. I still remember how intense and excited with adrenaline I felt when the T.rex appears out of the paddock in Jurassic World. But I do wish the T.rex had more screen time in the movie and same with in JW: Fallen Kingdom and JW: Dominion. I am also totally up for seeing more theropods. There are so many that awesome and would be incredible to see in Jurassic Park. But they don't always have to fight the T.rex and still have their own scenes and moments. But the filmmakers and likely the general audience expect a fight.

Happy new year Professor Klayton. I am reading The Lost World novel by Crichton - I have read a third of the book. Malcolm, Thorne and Eddie have arrived at the Isla Sorna (Site B). They are discovering the building were JP-Bio-engineers are trying to perfect the cloning of dinosaurs. And then it suddenly accured to me... What if the next JP-film would try to discover how it all began with cloning and actually "building" a dinosaur - a prequal to Jurassic Park. The moment of succeeding and the many fails (R-rated film - I wish 🤞, although this will never happen). That is a very exciting thing to think of. And here may come - the piece de resistance - the Tyrannosaurus Rex back on top of the podium. How on earth did they grow it - the terrible fails - the sudden creepy success..?!? Thank you for keeping and making all of this fascinating info on the Jurassic Park/World franchise. It makes an almost 40 year old heart skip a couple of beats in excitement of what could have been and what is the future bringing to the table for JP/JW. There are som many streaming-services (Netflix, Disney, Prime etc.) now that possibly can take the JP-franchise to new heights. Streaming-services don't need Hollywood-money when they have 100 of millions of monthly paying consumers, if you ask me. Keep up the good work Professor Klayton 🦖🦕🦟🐙🐸

I agree, they need to stop relying on having the franchise's icon having it's butt kicked by the new Dino of the film. What really hurt JP3 was the commercials advertising the fight between the T-Rex and Spino, and that the fight end up taking place near the beginning of the film (which actually hints that the T-Rex was gonna lose since the Spino was the main Dino of the film) and it lasted, what, two minutes? At least the Indominus Rex has the excuse of being a super Dino-mutant and with the added T-Rex genome to give the animal some T-Rex power^^. Like you pointed out, the T-Rex that was in the three Jurassic World films was the same one from the first film and technically, she's old. It's a miracle she was able to give the I-Rex a good fight. But that just shows how badass she was in that film. The fight with the Giga would've been far more even if it had fought a grown up Junior from the Lost World film. Would've been a good excuse to bring back Sarah Harding too, to have her point out the scar on it's leg that would have from the surgery.

A Trex vs a Giga/Spino would be the equivalent of a 6’5 skinny man fighting a 6 foot unit of a man. Sure the 6’5 man is taller, but the 6 foot man is more massive and stronger. Trex wasn’t as long as Spino or Giga, however it was more massive, outweighing the latter by at least 1000kg. Trex would be to powerful for any other large theropod dinosaur to take on. Trex was heavier, and was more muscular which would make it near impossible for a Giga or Spino to beat it in a fair 1v1 fight.

You know, in my own books, the T.rex is playing very prominent roles in all of them. And it's not just one Rex. There's two, a pair I have named Jack and Amber. Later on in the fourth and final book, I introduced their baby, Tiny(Yeah, that's his name) as well as a couple of more individuals, a pack if you will. You see, we've known that for a while that Tyrannosaurs work as a team, and I seem to be the first to not only give the Rex a prominent role, but to be the first to even acknowledge that these guys hunt in packs. And one of them, Scar, will be challenging Jack for leadership, so I'm excited to see what I can do with it. Now the reason why I'm having the T. Rex play a major role in my books is because in the books, Jack and Amber were the first ever dinosaurs we were able to clone, and they imprinted on me, so to them, I'm sort of another Rex.

I agree on that the T. rex shouldn't be the big punching bag for every large theropod. It's already becoming a trope at this point, and I'm kind of sick of it. I get why the filmmakers want to include other predatory dinosaurs in the series, which is admirable and something that I like, but it shouldn't come at the expense of the tyrant lizard king. "Do you really got to make them kick the T. rex's ass just for those other creatures to have some sort of leg up in what they do?" If only Jack Horner and Joe Johnston were asked that question before they made the Spinosaurus beat the T. rex in JP3.

There's two reasons. First, is the Korn effect. In Warhammer Korn is the God of war and cannonically one of the most powerful deities with the most powerful daemons and servants because WAR. As the franchise got older, his OP daemons only showed up to be defeated by new characters when the writers wanted to show how badass their new character was. The second reason has to do with an ideological trend in our culture that is very widespread in hollywood. There is a pressure in our institutions to subvert and ruin everything about our culture to make room for the "newer" and "better". They want to destroy it so they can build it back as they feel is better.

First! And, yes, as a fan of the Tyrannosaurus, I feel bad for how the media and Hollywood treated this animal like cannon fodder or a monster/villain instead of a character. Heck, in my young adult dinosaur novel I’m writing, I made my Tyrannosaurus character to be portrayed similar to the Red Bluster from Sea Beast despite that it only attacks humans in self defense, is more interested in hunting animals as large as the T-Rex and does help humans as long as they weren’t hostile for its survival knowing humans are extremely dangerous when they were a threat.

Like seriously, having it get kicked around by anything it's size just makes it ridiculous, not to mention dominion pulled off the battle WORSE than Jurassic Park 3 by making the battle basically "funny spiky shitass bullies old grandma for a few minutes" Atleast in JP3 both animals were struggling and it didn't seem like one animal was dominating the entire fight. Not to mention that the post 2015 installments really have an obsession of having the rex team up with something to beat a bigger threat.
