I love the way the raptor taps his claw on the floor at 2:00. Like it’s tapping his foot trying to figure out where the kids are. Outstanding filmmaking.

When this movie was shown in my science class, the whole class was like, "Oh heck no!" Throughout this entire scene and they were saying things like, "DONT JINX THEM!" when Ellie said unless they knew how to open doors. And the only time they laughed was the claw tapping and the way the sister ran to her brother

No, effects were not better. Raptors look very plasticly, but it's all very well hidden due to poor lighting and motion blur. The effects quality is far worse than newer JP movies. Practical effects especially. Yes they fit the scene better, but motion is very limited far away from natural fluid, lacking may facial muscles, etc.

The only reason raptors acted like this is 1: they're predatory animals, 2: they were very poorly mistreated, given a tiny cage to run around in, and 3: they associated people with pain and nobody imprinted on them.

Practical Affects with some cgi.
@Tribrachidiumheraldicum6 жыл бұрын
There's a couple different reasons. One is the mixture of practical effects, stuff looks more real when its actually there. Another big contribution is the color grading. Blockbusters today are usually highly saturated to give them more color or something, not exactly sure why, but this leads to the CGI looking a lot worse. Its easier for animators to create convincing looking creatures when working on actual film with real color tones. Compare this sequence to Episode 2 of Star Wars, the first film ever to be shot fully on digital cameras and you immediately see a vast difference in the quality, despite the animators most likely having a high skill level.

because the freezer floor was slippery. when u cant get ur footing, u cant use ur full strength. the raptor outside the control room was not standing on slippery ground, but on solid ground where she had her feet and legs holding her in place while trying to push open the door. the other raptor could not do that for the slippery ice. duh!

Yes your comment is 3 years old but I thought it'd be fun to answer: 1) It's called coefficient of friction, my friend. Mr. Raptor has very little surface area on that icy floor. A small child could hold him at bay easily. 2) Ellie is doing basically doing no good whatsoever against the Raptor; it's pretty much all Grant. Look at where she is in relation to that moment arm, and where the force is being applied - she has no leverage at all and might as well be doing other tasks. 3) It's complete BS and it's a movie. Obviously the Raptors would have killed all of these humans long ago. Plot armor.

The boy could have EASILY handed Ellie the gun. Alan was holding the door...the little girl was on the computer booting up the system. The boy was jumping up and down being useless.

I would been like “Tim, I know you’ve been through a lot, attacked by a T-Rex, trapped in a Jeep in a tree, electrocuted, and hunted by velociraptors. But could you make yourself useful and hand me the goddamn shot gun already?”
@ashleyjones49010 жыл бұрын
I never understood when they ran to the controlle room she was trying to reach the gun when timmy could have just passed it to her???? Instead he stood at the computer doing nothing
@greenlee7smythe10 жыл бұрын
because having a child handle a gun even for a few seconds would have been a big "no no". people would have frowned upon it. i mean the child actor handle a gun, fake or otherwise. u never hardly see children holding what is suppose to be a real gun. passing, scooting or otherwise. would have not gone well with the public.

I remember when I was watching this movie in science class and people were mad because when Ellie said, "Unless they figure out how to open doors." And then it cuts to the Velociraptor opening the door, they were like, "Damn it, woman!" I was laughing. They were so scared.

Like @Long-Tailed Charmander said, there’s ice and water on the floor. Plus, they actually pulled this same stunt in the novel.
@greenlee7smythe3 жыл бұрын
Because the raptor has no footing. She’s standing on ice and water so it’s very slippery. She had no friction to give her any weight behind her trying to push it. Plus she also just whacked the side of her head against the freezer shelf and again when Tim shut the door on her. She was a bit disoriented.

Alan looking down at the frozen door locks, then lifting his head and the raptor's face is in the window is another example of the many perfect moments of absolute terror in this film. And that's before he and the raptor both look down and the door handle starts turning from the dino's side!

I love how pleased with themselves the raptors are for figuring out door handles. It's a trait we also see in the Indoraptor from Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, grinning its ass off when it tricks Wheatley into thinking the tranqs worked.
