I love the way the raptor taps his claw on the floor at 2:00. Like it’s tapping his foot trying to figure out where the kids are. Outstanding filmmaking.

When this movie was shown in my science class, the whole class was like, "Oh heck no!" Throughout this entire scene and they were saying things like, "DONT JINX THEM!" when Ellie said unless they knew how to open doors. And the only time they laughed was the claw tapping and the way the sister ran to her brother

Steven Spielberg was perfect for this movie. The suspense here was so incredibly intense. I remember watching this as a child. This movie had such an impact on me. I've probably seen it a hundred times. My parents probably hated how much I would beg them to watch it. I had so my Jurassic Park toys as a kid. This movie will forever be one of my favorites.

Man it's a such a well made scene. I always liked how she tries to gently open the door after she turns the handle, like she learned that to open doors you need precise gentle movements and not brute force so she is still trying to do that even though the door is already open. Really cool attention to detail.

One thing I've learned to appreciate about this film as I've gotten older The realism between Lexi and Tim being siblings and being children Kids get scared they will scream they will freeze and they will worry about trivial things like throwing up in a car after it goes over a cliff cause thier kids they aren't walking bad asses like some movies make them out to be Siblings will bicker and argue and butt heads but when push comes to shove they have each others backs Lexis helping Tim move fast with his bad leg And they help eachother several times throughout this even though thier clearly terrified doing it the best example being Lexi screaming as she charges to help Tim shut the freezer

No, effects were not better. Raptors look very plasticly, but it's all very well hidden due to poor lighting and motion blur. The effects quality is far worse than newer JP movies. Practical effects especially. Yes they fit the scene better, but motion is very limited far away from natural fluid, lacking may facial muscles, etc.

The only reason raptors acted like this is 1: they're predatory animals, 2: they were very poorly mistreated, given a tiny cage to run around in, and 3: they associated people with pain and nobody imprinted on them.

Two things I realized looking back on this: 1- This whole thing may have been avoided if the park only used the circle doorknobs and not push-down handles. 2- When she couldn't reach the gun, they forgot the perfectly able boy that was doing nothing and could have gotten the gun for them. Regardless, amazing film even to this day. Easily one of my favorite movies!

Practical Affects with some cgi.
@Tribrachidiumheraldicum
@Tribrachidiumheraldicum 6 жыл бұрын
There's a couple different reasons. One is the mixture of practical effects, stuff looks more real when its actually there. Another big contribution is the color grading. Blockbusters today are usually highly saturated to give them more color or something, not exactly sure why, but this leads to the CGI looking a lot worse. Its easier for animators to create convincing looking creatures when working on actual film with real color tones. Compare this sequence to Episode 2 of Star Wars, the first film ever to be shot fully on digital cameras and you immediately see a vast difference in the quality, despite the animators most likely having a high skill level.

I always wondered how little Timmy with slippery wet shoes was strong enough to hold off a raptor yet Grant and Elle combined can't.
@greenlee7smythe
@greenlee7smythe 10 жыл бұрын
because the freezer floor was slippery. when u cant get ur footing, u cant use ur full strength. the raptor outside the control room was not standing on slippery ground, but on solid ground where she had her feet and legs holding her in place while trying to push open the door. the other raptor could not do that for the slippery ice. duh!
@AFCompany
@AFCompany 10 жыл бұрын
greenlee7smythe The floor may be wet. But do you really think little Timmy (who also has wet shoes) can hold off a 300lbs raptor? But I love your explanation though.

Yes your comment is 3 years old but I thought it'd be fun to answer: 1) It's called coefficient of friction, my friend. Mr. Raptor has very little surface area on that icy floor. A small child could hold him at bay easily. 2) Ellie is doing basically doing no good whatsoever against the Raptor; it's pretty much all Grant. Look at where she is in relation to that moment arm, and where the force is being applied - she has no leverage at all and might as well be doing other tasks. 3) It's complete BS and it's a movie. Obviously the Raptors would have killed all of these humans long ago. Plot armor.

because having a child handle a gun even for a few seconds would have been a big "no no". people would have frowned upon it. i mean the child actor handle a gun, fake or otherwise. u never hardly see children holding what is suppose to be a real gun. passing, scooting or otherwise. would have not gone well with the public.

Because the raptor has no footing. She’s standing on ice and water so it’s very slippery. She had no friction to give her any weight behind her trying to push it. Plus she also just whacked the side of her head against the freezer shelf and again when Tim shut the door on her. She was a bit disoriented.
