I can see why it was changed to Muldoon driving in the film, makes more sense since he works at the park and no doubts knows all of the roads and routes and such. Nonetheless, an interesting alternate version of this classic scene. If Ellie returns in another Jurassic film, it'd be neat to give her a sequence where she gets to be the main hero and drives the other characters to safety.
