I saw it last night! I was stunned at the storyline. The ending of “Fallen Kingdom” essentially laid-out what the final act would / should / could be. The visuals were A-OK but I’m also tired of the nostalgia nods that seem to be the trend with all franchises (i.e. Ellie Satler removing her sunglasses in awe / Ian Malcolm once again waiving a torch in order to distract giant beast)… The locust plot killed me almost as much as it did in “The Exorcist II: Heretic” What did I learn? Stay away from locusts! They’re a sure way to kill your crops and film franchise! I’m actually heartbroken over this entry as it could have gone-out with a colossal bang. Definitely time to bury for a couple of decades…

I'm gonna get a lot of hate for this, but if they're ever going to do anything with this franchise in the future, I think the best option is to take a darker, more horror centric route. Really lean on the horrors of genetic mutilation when it's taken to the extreme, of the fear of having to run for your life with death chasing you down at every turn. Maybe take the original Jaws approach where the dinosaur's are always there, lurking in the shadows, and you hint and allude to that somehow. Maybe with some clever sound design, and seeing their silhouettes darting behind trees as they get closer to you. Shoot the film like a Halloween film, and the dinosaurs are like Michael Myers. I think a 20-30 min short horror film shot from a first person perspective as you venture around the island at night would be terrifying and thrilling if done the right way.
@x-ScaryBerry-x2 жыл бұрын
The book was much darker and had some genuinely tense scary moments. I would welcome an adaptation that’s more in line with the book as well.

@@x-ScaryBerry-x Exactly. We've already see the franchise capitalize on grand scale and spectacle. Would be nice for them to adopt a more intense, and tighter story.
@rutgerdejong16602 жыл бұрын
I would be all for smaller scaled, more intimate and actually scary settings where you don't know who is going to survive. The genetic mutilation can go away, that's not needed at all. Dinosaurs are scary enough. Look at the kitchen scene in JP. That was actually scary. Future films just need a very different approach. It's all about the setting, screenplay, build up of tension and suspence and most importantly characters that are well written so we care for them and that DON'T HAVE PLOT ARMOR!
@beeking17922 жыл бұрын
Ether they could remake the first one (which hopefully does not happen) Or they can do a spinoff movie of the Indoraptor from fallen kingdom, but I would try to salvage some of the plot from trespasser and incorporate it into a spin off movie.

I think what makes a movie like the first Jurassic Park so good is it's ordinary people in extraordinary situations. It's the same reason Jaws is so great as well. There's a certain level of relatability you can latch onto. As the films have gone on, though, the characters become more extraordinary as do the situations that keep getting ramped up more and more that they're just over the top and ridiculous. I mean, Chris Pratt may as well be James Bond in these movies, particularly the latter two. It's silly. The mind set that you have to keep getting bigger and bigger with each film is really a detriment to franchises like this. Especially now when people are desensitized to these big action sequences, anyway. Good, relatable characters will always make up for the lack of spectacle. Obviously you need spectacle in a Jurassic Park/World movie, but I'm of the belief less is more.

That's not what made it good. Jurassic Park was good because it had ground breaking special effects. Nobody watches that movie to see ordinary characters. The character work isn't that well handled. That’s the movie. That’s all that matters. PERIOD. Anything else that is going on in the world is absolutely positively irrelevant. This is what happens when writers/directors/producers sit around too long in a closed room …drinking their own Kool-Aid. A cabin in the woods is safe? Would you have built that cabin on Isla Nublar or Isla Sorna? I think not. Most humans would be in underground bunkers by now! Hollywood writers have completely lost the plot at this point. I'm still wondering how the dinosaurs got all over the world, they went from getting loose from a building to overseas and all states of America 😐 and worst of all, Clair is a freakin machine at this point, she out ran a raptor (for a long time) that can keep up with cars and a motorcycle. not to mention doing parkour jumping from building to building completely unscathed 😡

@@Mrdavis0613 No idea. I suppose it's fair to assume that Dr Wu isn't the only scientist in the world who knows how to clone dinosaurs. I mean, Maisies mother cloned dinosaurs on Isla Sorna too. So there are way more people who know how to do it, even back in the labs of JP. Dr Wu wasn't the only one with this knowledge eventhough the JW movies try to sell it to you like he is.

Just read through the plot summary online. Did anyone else catch that the head of Biosyn is Dodson, the guy who was actually meeting with Nedry in the first movie? It seems a little pointless to bring that back unless you want everyone to just remember how great the original was (in which case, lets special release the original! They did it with Morbius and gave it a second run, they can do it with the original Jurassic Park too and give us an actual good movie).

@@Trill_Tour Lewis Dodgson is actually the big bad guy in both novels, especially in The Lost World. He even kills people and causes someone to get brutally eaten if I remember correctly.

I didnt hate it but it was certainly not what I thought it would be. If anything this is a setup to have one more actual good one. Personally I loved the other two Jurassic worlds and they just fooled everyone with this entry. There is no way in helk its the final one. The ending had no resolution at all. Honestly it was a corny rehash of previous concepts of Jurassic park. I knew Dotson was gonna get killed by delophasouras the second they showed the barbasol can. Yes it was a cool reminesant entry of the two jp and jw. But this can not be the end.

I think a movie of people on the biosyn location in a horror themed type of movie would be incredible. It would be more faithful to the novels and I think could be pretty terrifying seeing how most of the dinos in the franchise have been pretty scary visually. Putting them in the right situation and setting would work scary good

I completely understand where you’re coming from but it worked for me. I wasn’t a fan of the lack of screen time for the Rex and the new big bad Dino. They just randomly hated each other at the end and needed to fight at the end for some reason. As much as I enjoyed this film I do agree with the Stream It rating.

The trailers for this and Rise of Skywalker really bugged me when they advertise it as 'the epic conclusion to the saga'. It comes off as very full of itself, like they've had this planned all along as one cohesive story when it was clearly never intended to be, and the quality never holds up with the more recent additions to these franchises. Star Wars had its epic conclusion in 1983 and Jurassic Park as much as I do like the original 3 films is clearly not a cohesive narrative, they come off as very disjointed and then just stop after 3. I had no anticipation for this film. On top of the last film's lack of quality I really don't find CG dinosaurs interesting anymore, they just look like any other movie monster today especially when they're placed in gigantic CG set pieces. Objectively I'll say the CGI did look good in the trailers, but the abundance of practical effects added such a visceral feel in those first three films with the smaller more tangible set pieces. I do enjoy the first Jurassic World, but those first three have this really unpolished feel that the new trilogy lacks, just compare how muddy and bloody the characters in those first three get compared to the new films, both that and the locations feel far too clean and conditioned.

I need to apologize, although I kinda enjoyed Dominion (mostly for the second act), I reacted irrationally to this review. Although I still like the movie (kinda), I realize its flaws and understand the critique you gave. I am terribly sorry for my earlier comment though, if you don't know which one that was, it was the big one where I gave a giant rant about why Dominion is good. I deleted it so it's gone now.

A couple of months ago, I had a panic attack in the cinema and they gave me a couple of complimentary tickets. I was wondering about whether to use them on this film. My thought is that I should probably use them on a film that I may not like and I won't be as annoyed because it was Free and I didn't contribute to the film's revenue if it's bad. I should not be thinking this about a Jurassic Park film, but that's the way the series has gone.

She was living in Odessa, which is a huge target and constantly under threat. Fortunately, she's managed to leave the country since then. I still worry about her, but at least she's out of danger. But at the time, she was still there and I had no idea what was going to happen and had no way to help her. It made me physically sick.
