I find it fascinating how almost BTS themselves has shaped how the trainee system works at their company. After all, they didn't have a system when BTS were trainees

There a even other older inactive kpop groups announcing their comeback in 2025, it's been a strategy by them for years. It always amazes me that the big 3 keep doing that but at least one of those companies SM also wants to tear BTS down to the ground which if you think about it is basically shooting themselves in the foot if they rely on the momentum of BTS to sustain their groups success. Frankly the whole kpop industry relies on BTS to propel the industry forward, BTS went on Hiatus and other companies started loosing money or went stagnant. Financial articles started writing about the "kpop crises" and being hopeful BTS would come back to save them after many of these companies wanted BTS gone cuz they thought their groups would take over then.

So true that prioritizing charts affects artistry. Suga developed his AgustD trilogy over several years. No one looking to make quick money and trophies takes that kind of time to put out projects. Is why I have the highest respect for his catalogue of work. It's art.

One of the many things i am thankful for RM is that he made the BTS members specially the Vocal line fall in love with different genres of music. He complied many songs (different genre) put it in a usb and distributed it to all the members and asked them to listen to it... They didn't just wait for the company to instruct them what to do but they initiated something for them to grow artistically by themselves. Now in the present time HYBE T&D Team also used RM's method for the new trainees... They would compile songs and let the trainees listen to it. That helps many trainees (and eventually idols) to broaden their knowledge of different songs/genre of music.

Yep you hit the nail on the head about the culture of k pop is not and has not been globally accepted as they hoped it would. I myself can't stand the k pop culture. It makes it difficult for me, a life long 51 y/o old lover of music unwilling to give it a chance. It's BTS and BTS only because they are authentic, have good music first and foremost, they are inclusive of their globally fanbase culture & aren't a copy paste of anything else.

I also think that is the problem of the other bands on HYBE. TxT for instance had Ryan Tedder in front of them and they say we want a Billboard Top 20 not we want a song that we can pour our hearts into or we want a song everyone can dance to happily. Ryan Tedder was turning off his brain, you could see him going OK tell me what you want .... meh. Also she is right about the genius of RM's poetry but we also have to realize that he was using other's beats until Suga started producing his beats and J-Hope came in and started helping them learn then create the dance steps, later Jin, Jungkook, V and Jimin started writing melodies and lyrics as the learned more from the band camp style that BTS was working with at Big Hit. It started with the genius of RM but all 7 members are what makes BTS a work of art as a group.

Even Hybe said this. In their recent TD video they mentioned that RM is used as the canvas for future trainees. Because RM made the BTS members listen to music regularly by making playlists for them, Hybe uses these same playlists to make the young trainees listen to diverse music

YES - once again, you've articulated a feeling I've had but couldn't quite put my finger on... "If it's not about the music..." THIS is why I could not get into any other kpop acts after I discovered BTS. Those other acts, and the companies behind them - are NOT about music. They are about brief, big HITS. Hits that bust out, shine bright for a few months, and then disappear in the shadow from the glow of the next shiny new pop release and its crazy neon MV BTS, thanks in large to RM, is about music - exploring music's variety, depth, playfulness, seriousness, all the emotions it can evoke, and all the ways they can craft it to tell their stories.

This. I never fall for it. A view/support never hurts every once in a while if I really, really like what they say about the reactions/group. But the second a reactor plugs their content (prank videos, their own songs, vlogs for random unrelated stuff, patreons), it’s glaringly obvious what they’re in the BTS reaction space for. Even more telling when BTS “interest” comes absolutely out of nowhere and they instantly ask for things, like donations. (Those Aussie reaction groups, the afterparty dj dudes, etc 😂). Support BTS, everyone. That’s what we all should be doing. It’s already enough to give a channel those views that could be going to members, but don’t be taken advantage of so easily. 💜

@@goeienacht There's a new brother combo that's quite sus. They always plug their music in the videos and one of the brothers keep telling people to check out their music blah blah blah...if they only say it once or twice, i might go check it out...but the fact that they do it several times in every video, it's quite off putting. I only watch them when i've run out of bts videos to watch for the day =D I also think there's something wrong with YT's algorithms. I agree, I don't mind ppl promoting their music as long as their videos are genuine and they're not just saying a bunch of nice/ over the top things about bts for views. Plugging your own project in reaction videos is no different from handing out fliers on the streets, it's just grinding and it's a good way to do it, but you can easily mess it up by being unbearable to watch. Like no, I'm not gonna listen to your music because you made this face 😱 and said jimin is your bias, get a grip 🤣 it gives the impression that they're not serious about their music. Also, many of them have this attitude that they're amazing artists and they just "haven't been discovered yet" ( mate we know you exist, your music is just not good, so do something about it). Jurn is still my fav reactor and I always happily check out his music because there's a good chance that I'm going to like it, and because I know how passionate he is about it. He's not delulu, he doesn't think he'll be the next bts if only ppl "discover" him, he keeps honing his music and he's got eyes on his whole journey, not just the end goal. I genuinely enjoy hearing his opinions in videos and experiencing how his music evolves 💜 (To clarify, the delulu part is them thinking that their music is perfect and they ooonly need an audience, and it's only bad luck that they're not famous yet. I do believe Jurn can become very successful, but he's not waiting to be lucky, or under any assumption that he doesn't need to keep developing his music)

what hybe is right now is soooo far away from what bighit was when they were curating bts and bts only. and I don't mean it in terms of scale and how far they've come, no. it's the attitude that has changed as hybe now mostly goes for quick money, just like the other massive labels in kpop. yes, hybe might have more flexible and lose system for the idols to develop, but the value of art was lost or maybe, the management's focus was on charting even in 2013 with bts, they just didn't have the resources to make it happen. it's bts who made bighit double down on authenticity, not the other way around, and the charts came as a long term game result. but now hybe is managing idols that are not bts, that do not have that kind of musical vision for themselves and identity to build the career around, so all that's left is the label chasing charts bighit was just an environment that allowed the members to meet and bond over the same sense of belief in their artistic self. in theory, bts in their final lineup could have left bighit and find themselves some other label if they absolutely had to, and they still would have made it big, because the core of what bts is lies in RM and in BTS it's been long overdue for bighit executives to humble themselves a little. yes, they are good producers, songwriters, choreographers, etc, but placing themselves as the masterminds behind bts is a bite they already aren't able to chew

Business side Bang PD developed many innovative business strategies as a result of not having the financial backing to do things the usual kpop way BUT his meeting with and belief in RM was pivotal. Hybes Training and Developement say that they base their strategies on what RM did with BTS. In the official biographical book BEYOND THE STARS are interviews with the members who say during training RM was like Jack Black in School of Rock, only RMs School Of Hip Hop. He made them data sticks of songs, and begged them with tears in his eyes to please listen to them because " how can you be singers if you don't know your music". Hybe also said how they now select trainees totally differently . It used to be the most skilled but since RM they now look for passion for music. Bang Si Hyuk did not believe in Jimin or V in the begining. He did not see Jimin" as a complete artist" Suga had to stop them trying to unsuccessfully turn Jimin into a rapper but Suga knew his potential as a vocalist as Suga had already worked in a recording studio in Degu from a young age. Suga and their trainer had to fight to keep Jimin, also Bang PD did not immediately see Vs potential either. RM even had to go tell Bang PD that he needed to do whatever it took to get J Hope back as the group needed him to work. So that is 3 out of the 7s unique chemistry were self selected. The fact the group started with two underground rappers was slso key. They had the expectation that they should write their own music and everybody should have distinct individual styles. The fact they also started individual solo projects which caused the rest to have ambitions to do the same. NONE OF ALL THIS WAS THE COMPANY.. ....THEY PROVIDED QUALITY CONTROL FUNDING AND FACILITIES

They can't create another group like BTS because they don't have Namjoon 🔥 BTS started and grew around him for a reason. Namjoon role in BTS is foundational that he shaped the group with his great vision and thoughts. It's not only about he knows English. He clearly knew about how to carry them to international fans. The members itself said about his hard work in various occasions and you can itself see through their videos how much he worked for group. Writing for group and speaking for group. He moulded himself not trained by anyone. His strategies still using in hybe. The lyrics he had written was according to their vocal range Even in chapter 2 he helped them in making and giving advice. And he is now going beyond k-pop with his music I am glad he is focusing on himself ❤

Good Luck with all you're doing. Chasing charts and trends will not do as well and gets repetitive and boring as a listener. It's also the paradox of wanting to break out the kpop industry but continue to produce "kpop" music. The main tracks aren't holding people's attention long enough to get them to the b-sides where the gold usually is.

Actually Bora’s right! RMs techniques are now part of Hybes training regime for idols. Y’all remember Tannies saying that Namjoon and Yoongi used to make them listen to Hip Hop songs constantly? They used to despair that ‘How can a hip hop group not know hip hop’? So Namgi created playlists for the members, Hobi made them interested and curious about street dances. You gotta remember these were all kids at the time. But it was Namgi’s determination and professionalism that inspired the guys to work just as hard. Go out of their way to learn other things, to constantly improve on themselves. That’s why I’m so proud of them!

Joon said during a live when he was sharing his thoughts and the album process for Wings..that First Love reminds him of yoongi as a trainee who recommended jazz and arts study, yoongi with black hair, and always with his grey sweat pants, yoongi whom he first met in winter (go watch that live). Whom do you think namjoon was with discussing music and crying in the practice room and reminiscing things (kindly listen to what they are saying). Or how joon thinks of yoongi as a mirror that makes him reflect abt himself. To whom did joon dedicated his verse on “Moving On”, whom was joon shouting out in his music. Yoongi doesn’t talk much about his contributions to the group but always put joon the great leader and other members as the stars and great hardworking members. The times when Yoongi shyly presented that he made “Let Me Know”, or the fact that “Autumn Leaves” and “Tomorrow” are his masterpiece too.. Jump and Outro:Her were his main credits, or that Outro:Tear’s melody was his composition, or that he initially made Seesaw for a group song or that Take Two was mainly produced by him, did you care? Or you don’t even know. And whoever made the RM credits compilation TikTok and included Yoongi’s solo songs with joon’s participation but put credits on joon higher than Yoongi like for D-Day song & LGO Agust d version, was sneaky.. the editor did that to other members songs too… imagine making your very raw and personal songs and people crediting it more to others… idk why are you so butthurt abt Yoongi.. namjoon is surely a great artist and leader and role model to the members and a very significant piece of BTS but still BTS wouldn’t be BTS without the other members because they influence each other. Yoongi does a lot of subtle actions and also bluntness that shows care and concern for his members, but members sometimes just sees it as a nag. When Bang PD pranked joon and guilt tripped him using Yoongi “What do you think SUGA would feel?”.. what harm does Yoongi being mentioned along with Namjoon brings. Speaking of determination and professionalism, Yoongi could never not be that… who was the one back in the days who performed without showing his pain while suffering on the inside that Jin had to dedicate his letter to him instead to armys.. and Yoongi had endured the pain of that deteriorating shoulder for how many years without proper treatment.

On a sidenote, I don't think Yoongi's contribution in the early days should be underestimated. He was the one who worked and kept them afloat, he had the experience of producing. And when you look at their solo work now, I think both of them ARE masterminds.💜

More than Bang PD, the other creative directors and the BTS group members, the most important thing all the other groups don’t have is ARMY. Army is what keeps BTS on top. If BTS didn’t have Army, they also wouldn’t be on top. I’m not belittling all the things BTS to gain a loyal fandom, but the other groups also have a loyal fandom, but they don’t have Army. It’s very much a chicken-egg scenario.

@@ananyaa6664 it’s a chicken/egg conundrum I’m having. Without BTS there is no Army (in its full glory) and without Army BTS is just a normally successful boy band. I mean there have been other Artists with enormous fandoms which propelled them to success, like the Beatles, One Direction Taylor Swift, Beyoncé , but those fandoms are not like Army. you can’t just compare every female artist to Beyoncé or Taylor Swift… then every one of their achievements would seem trivial! like “yes, you just won a Grammy, but Beyoncé has 32 so is yours even important?” bts didn’t just suddenly get a bb hot100 #1! they slowly climbed up the charts through the years, eventually breaking into the top 10, and then continuing to have multiple higher and lower entries in the charts both as a group and as soloist! TXT is a talented group and I’ve always felt it was so unfair that they keep being compared by everyone, including their own label, to the biggest K-pop group ever…!? the poor boys will never be enough if they keep being treated that way. people need to start seeing them as their own group of artists who are successful in their own category, which they are! but it seems even they themselves don’t know or believe that, because they keep being promised something by their label that isn’t realistic for them yet! I felt so bad when they posted that clip of bang pd asking about the chart position; it felt so tone deaf and greedy… I’m sure the TXT boys are ambitious about their future, wanting to grow their audience is natural! however, why would bang pd and their team set them up like that? You don’t just publicly set up expectations that are so much higher than your previous achievements. If anything, publish the video after the achievements were met or even surpassed, then you can say “ha, we always knew it”. hoping for success is normal, but posting that video when the song wasn’t even out ridiculed both groups involved because neither could accomplish the targeted top 20 position. If everyone was as big as the most successful artist ever, then they wouldn’t be the biggest artists,,, it wouldn’t be special if everyone else did it, because it would mean it wasn’t difficult to get there.

But so many people still compare musicians to the Beatles! BTS are genius, were the first to break into the western world. But we must pay respect that big hit knew to let rm be the brain. That is intelligence as well.

My first question would always be, "then why are BTS's songs so much better than anyone else's, and why are there so many of them??" That catalog is vast. Perhaps IU or Seo Taiji by himself come close but no other group and certainly no one else from Hybe. And even BigBang. I'm not disputing their or GD's greatness but even they don't have as deep a catalog as BTS (yes, I have all their albums on playlist, they're my second-favorite band). Stray Kids might get there someday no doubt. And if anything, the success of BigBang and Stray Kids further supports the anti-mastermind pro-mentor point.

I think there are some people who could be called masterminds. Quincy Jones comes to mind. He did it too many times for it to be luck, like it was for Bighit.

I just went & tried to presave your song of whatever, but can you explain what that means please? It said you could change stuff and view stuff etc? Sorry I haven't used Spotify before lol, I just signed up for it to support you & I'm high so my brain is a bit dim, I want to support you but I'd like to understand what that means 1st if you could? 💜

So pre saving it shows Spotifys algorithm that there’s interest in the song so it might help it push it to more people. But it also makes it easier for the song on release day to be found by those who pre save as it is already saved to your account so when it comes out you may get an alert saying x song you saved is available now. Thank you for supporting and helping us out with this one.

When the initial video came out and i sat down thinking abt it....and i agree with Bora that i wont call Bang and P dogg or Son masterminds. They played a part yes but i wont say masterminds. But where i dont agree with her is i dont think RM can be called a mastermind either. A key contributor......yes. but at the end of the day i think its a collective of ppl that led to BTS being BTS. Unless told otherwise I prefer not to give RM that additional crown.

It's not your fault he is not your fav but atleast talk after know the truth. The lyrics he had written for vl according to their vocal range. In these chpt 2 the members get help from him. Just watch jimin first album behind scenes where he given advice to him

@aswathiudayan5158 I did! The mini moni episode was so eye opening...I mean I get it. Lyrical genius, great leader, exceptionally gifted.....i am absolutely in awe of his thought process....I just don't think mastermind is one of them especially in Bora's context.

@@JJordan19821 Namjoon has a great vision how to carry them to internationally. Don't forget their first grammy performance is because of Namjoon. He knew the pulse of international fans others followed him. He moulded himself priorities grp over himself sometimes listen his live and interviews. I don't discrediting others BTS where they are now is only because of Namjoon and his strong mental power.

This is actually a really solid point, they've had a snake in the grass since 2019 with Min Heejin that woman has been leaking information like financial statements to enemies of Hybe (enemies of BTS in reality cuz we've been dealing with the same aholes since 2016 when all Big Hit had was BTS, they've been trying to end them for years) and spreading hatred for the company to inact her plans to take the company down from the inside, we are now seeing the connections to SM that we've already suspected and Kakao who partnered with SM being part of it (Kakao ceo literally got indicted for illegal Stock Price Manipulation with his company along with SM to block Hybe from buying stocks). I also don't think it's exactly right to pretend like the sublabels management or vision doesn't come into play here when Hybe gives them autonomy to make most decisions, companies like BeLift want the typical kpop idol that just performs their vision as they see it with no one being part of the writing process while company Pledis their group writes most of their own music (I just happen to think they write the stereotypical kpop songs that aren't my taste). Hybe itself provides the resources but it's the labels decision how to utilize those resources and the vision they have for their groups.

I think RM contribution was more prominent at their earlier stage when bts music had soul but sorry to say now its more about making money and nothing to do with music maybe that's why their music is became average and soul less But i liked RMs new album
