Hi Mark just been watching your Tiger 1050 videos. I have my Tiger 14 years now, and managed to cover over 50,000 miles. The bikes not perfect, very tall, heavy and stock luggage not that good. Overall Tiger is 90% the perfect bike, you commute, tour, track day and do the Sunday breakfast run, without any problems. I don’t think I will ever change. Ps enjoyed you videos, Like you, I do all the servicing on the bike unless I have get into the engine.

Hi Mark. Can I ask more specifically what you disliked about the triumph 1200. I love the looks of it and the shaft drive, but I’m also considering the 1050 SE. Prefer shaft drive as there’s a 1 kilometre dusty gravel road to and from my house that I have to use daily here in Spain . Cheers.

I say in the 1200 rather than on it lol But I'm only 5 8ish and getting smaller every year it seems !!! I had the 800 and loved them If your taller then the 1200 us great all but a bit heavy ! This 1050 suits me and i enjoy the style and the way it handles bud

Nice choice fella, and the coat matches the bike colour too! Nearly bought one myself a few years back but the engine was such a stormer I knew I’d just ride like a twat everywhere so I made the sensible decision and bought another DL1000 V Strom. It will sound fab with a can too. Love the drone of my V twin with open cans.
@marksavage
@marksavage 3 жыл бұрын
you know i thought that as i was riding home lol to be fair i know they v stroms are good valve bike but im not a fan of the v twins are a incident with a tl1000 many years ago and a round about at high speed !! but like the multistrada and the gs so maybe i've got more used to how they ride with the engines as i like to drop it down a gear to slow down but found the twins like more brakes than gear down but anyway thanks bud and for watching and take care

Hi mate happy to see you still active on here. A quick question what size jet would you recommend for a SF2 100cc with tecnigas exhaust? & what’s the make of the original carb? Can the original carb be upjetted? Thanks!
@marksavage
@marksavage 3 жыл бұрын
Stick with the sp2 carb but check what you have in there now Most of the time they will run great just with the exhaust change ! But check size in and go up in 4s so buy 2 extra 4 up ie if 84 in get 88 or 92 Sports air filter Should be fine

Nice mark 👍 how did you find it compares to your sprint st? The Tiger looks to have shorter gearing 18 front 44 rear I think. While the sprint has a 19 front 42 rear, did you find the tiger pulled harder at low revs compared to the sprint? And was it more wheelie happy than the st? I've got a 2006 sprint st. Lovely lovely thing

just do the rear bud as you don't need to touch the front , you are the same size as me and i haven't lowered mine as im used to it 1/2" on the rear is 2" as the rear wheel so this will really help bud all in great bikes and enjoy

Gary, I have the same bike & I’m exactly the same measurements as you. It does feel a bit tall & top heavy but you get used to it. Anyway, I did lower mine. It’s a simple job. You can get the lowering kit from lust Racing. About £70 last time I looked. I dropped the front forks thru about 12mm too to keep the bike level. There’s plenty info on the Tiger 1050 forum about it. TBH I’m debating putting it back to stock height as I feel it did slightly affect the handling although only very little & could just be me. Possibly a better option although more pricey is have the seat re modelled. You’ll quickly get used to just putting one foot down if you can’t flat foot with both feet, this works for me. Also I don’t try duck walk the bike backwards as this is where your likely to loose footing & drop it, hop off & push it back. Much easier. Anyway ride safe & enjoy this cracking motorcycle

I owned a 2009 Sprint ST 1050cc and ended up selling it because the heat of the engine went to my legs (specially left side) and was unbearable! Given that you had a Sprint ST, is this anything similar I have been offered one of these bikes, I want it, but the heat issue (if it exists) is holding me back.

this can happen and you may need to have a sports air filter too so you get more air in as you now have more gasses getting out , this should help otherwise a small upjet on the carb they are good exhausts but if this doesn't help you may have to get another exhaust bud

@@marksavage One more thing, I found the Tiger 1050 to be so lean from the factory. Do the pipes, the air box mod (it's simple and makes a huge difference) and reflash the ECU. It'll be like a new bike. Oh, and most bikes the gearing is too tall, this one I found the gearing to actually be too low so added an extra tooth sprocket, also a good improvement. Cheers.
