Hey US viewers! I've learned that MB Guides isn't available in the US (little bit annoying) but I guess the workaround with that would be to use the Owner's Manual Section in the car (usually found in Vehicle Settings). There's a search facility in there too just like the app which allows you to search for specific things! Hope that helps!

I did produce one on COMAND however it’s the version of COMAND from approx 2018 to 2019. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZnWug3R5n5iGl7s It’s a tricky one as getting my hands on one would be a little difficult as most Mercedes dealerships only stock cars from 4-5 years so I don’t have access to any :( If I somehow get my hands on one then maybe! 🤓

How do you set wing mirrors for reverse parking?

Not all models can do it, but if it can when you select reverse you’ll have the mirror switch light turn on. Then just select the passenger mirror for it to dip down. You can also adjust it while in that mode too. Just keep your foot on the brake while you do it!

Hey Dennis, I’ve heard this too that it’s not available in the US :( Best thing to suggest as a workaround, have a look on the Vehicle Settings menu of your Mercedes and quite commonly, there’s an owners manual section on there which will allow you to search for stuff just like the app.

Hi Nick, Great videos so much information, have a bought a used GLC 220d AMG line Premium (2017). My wife is anxious about how close the car gets to an object before the audible noise on the sensor is heard. Have watched your tips for adjusting the settings to warn earlier and change the volume for the sensors but I have been unable to find a way of adjusting it. Is this only adjustable on newer models?

Hey Paul! Thank you! Yes on models prior to 2019/2020 the sensors are visual first and then an audible sound when you’re extremely close. Usually 3 yellow / orange bars on your instrument cluster is close enough for most scenarios. Hope that helps! 🤓

Hey Dennis, oh that’s annoying! Mmm possible though as know that specifications vary round the world that could even extend to the apps available too. A workaround though, if you have the “Owner’s Manual” built into the car then you can search on the car’s screen. Basically the same thing! 🤓

Hi Nick One more question for you if I may. Someone obviously had fun playing with my MBUX while my car was in the body shop as it did not come back with the settings as they had been left by me. One of these changes is that now my touchpad has gone very "clicky" and is operating more like a mouse. I am sure you covered this in one of your videos, but cannot seem to find it. Hi Richard, no problem On your centre screen, press HOME SETTINGS SYSTEM CONTROLS And in here you can turn on/off Haptic Operating feedback and or acoustic operating feedback which should do it

Really sorry I wouldn’t know, I only started my KZbin channel in 2020 so not sure if the materials are any different before that and to be honest I have never looked that close at that part when reviewing cars. @@npoleary Car was recently purchased from Merc area was covered with a vinyl of some sorts over glass as it went mottled, now it's bubble up only after 2weeks. Other issues too. As a first time customer service hasn't been good as I would have expected. Car dirty with water marks all over the paint, and Chrome dirty. I was disappointed, so I told them to properly valet the car. Seems like the used Merc cars they don't car and say they only do the basics. I wouldn't go buy from dealership again.

Hey EJRicketts, Ah the rear wiper is normally automatic (when it’s raining and you put it into reverse) but you can turn it on manually. On your indicator stalk, there is a rectangular button, press the right hand side of it in to toggle the rear wiper on/off 🤓

Hey Mariusz, ooo very nice! Yes technically speaking you could put it into N with the door open but go extremely careful! The car will be in neutral which will mean it will roll. I’d advise you’d need full control of the car with someone or yourself sat in the driver’s seat so you can operate the brake pedal just in case

Hi Esther, is that to do with Attention Assist? That’s the only place that I’ve seen that wording before. If so, don’t worry that’s completely normal it’s only active above approx 38mph. Hi Nick, we have just purchased a used 2020 A180d sports exec auto from a private dealership (not Mercedes). I tried using the Mercedes Me app but do not know the PIN used by original owner. I have watched several of your videos which I found very helpful and regarding this video re a RESET, can you please let me know if I carry out a total reset as explained here will this allow me to use a new PIN rather than my having to drive a round trip of 70 miles to a main dealership? Yes it should do, although I’ll be honest I’ve not tried that. I believe the pin in settings is just for exporting / importing settings etc. PIN’s on slightly newer models do other things but I’m sure it’ll do it 🤓

To change Mercedes me yes you’ll need to contact Mercedes. Usually you just take in proof of ownership and proof of ID 🤓 Only takes a few mins

So you can reset the multimedia system which I’d suggest you do anyway but to change Mercedes me ownership, if the previous person forgot to remove it then you’ll need to visit a dealer.

Hey eddyf101, Unfortunately no :( That feature and option to change it only became available on NTG 5.5 COMAND. I believe from memory 2017 C-Class’s didn’t have this and just had the black bar at the bottom of the windscreen and just above the rear window at the back for the sensors.

Apple says “not available in your area.” SO disappointed, as I think my E Class Manual is the most worthless waste of paper ever. Hey Trish thank you! Yes you can switch of Traffic Sign Assist if you have it on your car. From memory it’s on the left hand side of the steering wheel, press Home Settings Assistance Traffic Sign Assist You should be able to toggle this off from there 👍🏼

Hey Mikey, that sounds like it doesn’t have MULTIBEAM LED, it hasn’t been allowed in the states from what I’ve heard for quite a while. If you chat to Mercedes I’m sure they can help you out and let you know if you have it or not 👍🏼

Sadly I believe it’s just models with a touch screen Touch screen first came out starting in Mercedes A-Class in 2018 and rolled out from there to others. So depends what model you have and the year etc

You should be able to do that 🤓 Media is defined in Mercedes as RADIO BLUETOOTH USB CARPLAY Bluetooth is the only disabled while CarPlay is on, I’m sure the others still work

Hey Fidelio, no problem! Glad you like the videos! I haven’t made videos on those topics specifically but don’t worry about the gear changes. Your GLB is designed to travel up to 127 miles per hour but of course here in the UK we can only travel at 70mph so it may not reach those higher gears unless you travel to Europe and end up on a road that allows faster speeds. You can encourage the car to use higher gears by using DYNAMIC SELECT and using the Eco mode. For changing the instrument cluster, press HOME, then swipe to Navi, then swipe up and down. Hi Witer00m, if I recall back in an S500, you couldn’t customise the screen on the instrument cluster as that sort of tech wasn’t available then, but is there like a time section in the vehicle settings menu? I think the only way of showing it was hovering over the Time menu.

Hi David, There should be, if you have the “Pre-Installation for Trailer Coupling” then your local Mercedes will be able to provide it for you. Best thing to do with that is get in contact with the after sales part of your local Mercedes-Benz. I’m sure they’ll be able to advise costs etc 🤓

It depends on the specification of your car I think it was on a Premium Package if I recall… Basically on your steering wheel if I remember, you use the up/down/left/right buttons to select: SETTINGS, VEHICLE / LIGHTS and then look for Ambient Light if you have it 🤓

If you’ve purchased Mercedes me services like Apple CarPlay you won’t lose them by performing a reset of the system 🤓 A reset also doesn’t disconnect your Mercedes me account so you don’t have to worry about that either. A reset in the multimedia system just resets all of the settings etc back to factory 🤓

Hey Jeffery, All E-Class plug-in hybrids are rear wheel drive. With the extra space taken up by the lithium-ion battery and onboard charger, I don’t think there’s any room for a 4MATIC system too. Basically on other variants, 4MATIC on an E-Class drives the front wheels at 45% and the rear at 55%. Improves traction in slippery conditions leading to better performance and safety.

Hadn’t thought of producing a video on that but good suggestion! For now though, if you hadn’t seen I added a note last year to my parking assist video which summarises UN-R-79. **UPDATE** Please note Active Parking Assist parking assist has been removed from certain new models from approx 2020 onwards (pre built models and old models will be unaffected). This is due to the new United Nations regulation (UN-R-79). This basically requires systems like this to have a hands on / hands off sensor to detect if you have your hands on the steering wheel or not. I'm sure Mercedes-Benz are working hard on this for future models in years to come but will not be available on new cars until further notice. Speak to your local dealership to clarify on further details.

As of April 1st all new Mercedes only maintain distance to the car in front “distronic”. No lane keeping, active lane steering or parking. Completely pointless getting the drivers assistance package now. I was told by the dealership it’s just affecting the parking but the whole system has been disabled with an update prior to me collecting. So much misinformation out there.

Hi Laurie, for almost all cars since last year Active Park Assist has not been available due to United Nation Regulations. Your local dealership can confirm this on your car but you can check by pressing the camera button located in the middle and seeing if there are pulsating lines on the screen animation out of your car as if it was scanning. If you don’t have that animation then you won’t have it.

Thanks CSF90! 🤓 Wireless Apple CarPlay is being introduced to new cars that feature the new Mercedes infotainment system (currently in new S-Class and C-Class) Unfortunately the hardware doesn’t exist in existing models to offer this so it has to be plugged in. Hi Keith, If your Mercedes has memory seats then it’ll be able to save the seat positions on a profile however it’s saved like this: Profile 1 = Has their own Memory 1,2 & 3 Profile 2 = Has their own Memory 1,2 & 3 etc. Loading up a profile won’t directly change the seat, it’ll load up your memory saved positions (3 in each profile) so you’ll need to press 1,2 or 3 after loading your profile. Hope that makes sense 🤓

Hi Nick. Just bought used 2019 A class which has MBUX. The display had the Mercedes Me icon on it. I decided to do a reset to take off the previous owner settings. After the reset the Mercedes Me icon has gone. I have downloaded the app and this have linked to the car with no problems. Do you know how I can get the app back? Thanks, Tony.

So when you reset a Mercedes it does not unlink the previous owner, it just resets the car’s settings etc. If you’ve bought from a Mercedes they should have linked it to your account but if you haven’t then pop into your local one and they can link it and verify it for you 🤓 You’ll just need to take your V5 and proof of ID

Hey Mark, thanks glad you like the videos! I actually found out that wireless Apple CarPlay will only be possible on NTG 7 (MBUX v2). This will unfortunately only be found on new models that have a vertical screen at the moment (new S-Class and new C-Class later this year) Existing models don’t have hardware that is capable of doing this wirelessly

Hey R S, this can happen if the sensors on the front are obstructed. It can happen if it’s dirty, or even if something is in the way. Active Lane Keeping Assist is just a safety system that help keep you in lane and stop drifting to another lane. If after you wash the car, it’s still there, if you get in touch with your local Mercedes dealership I’m sure they’ll be able to help!

It's OK on "Berkshire Ballrooms", but not on "Tim Brennan" and says it has no address information, even though I can see the address on the screen and works if I select it manually. Any Ideas? Hi Richard, ah I think I know why that might be. The voice assistant is limited in that sense as that it will probably be trying to find the address of the contact “Tim Brennan” in your phone book. Unfortunately you can’t program any commands in to do certain things so best thing I’d suggest is to add the address to “Tim Brennan” in your phone book on your phone. That might not be it, but just a thought 💭

Hey sheena9090, no sadly I wasn’t planning to as the colours available can vary throughout the year (model changes and spec updates etc) Best thing for that to be honest is to get onto the Mercedes configuration on their website, you can build one and tweak the colours etc 🤓 Hope that helps!

It’s the one before the full screen dashboard yes, seen a lot of videos where it should just set up when plugging in the charger into the phone but nothing seems to happen and I can’t find no apple car play option anywhere on the screen. Hey Daniel, pretty sure all new CLA’s have this as standard. Make sure you’re using the correct cable when plugging in and also the correct USB-C adapter. I recommend the official Apple Cable and this dongle: bit.ly/USB-CtoUSB Make sure you plug it into the correct port too! One next to the cup holders 🤓

It should start automatically but not all USB-C dongles and cables are the same so the official ones are best. If you are 100% sure it’s not that, on your car, head over to HOME, Mercedes me / Apps. In here will be a menu called Smartphone Integration if you have it 🤓 If you see the menu and it still doesn’t work, then the issue will most likely be with a cable (that’s the most common thing anyway)

The problem with MB Guides is that there is no index, or way to read the manual sequentially. You have to know what you are looking for in order to find it! Also, it has the same problem, to a lesser extent, I've found, as the physical manual - it lists every option available everywhere. I thought our EQC was going to have 2 features that it did not have, because of that (Lane change assistance and Gesture control), as I had read the online guide while waiting for delivery.

Hey Laurie, exactly that it’s just a search function but as with all manuals as I mentioned in the video they are generic. The best thing is to get the spec sheet of the car in question and read up about it that way.

I bought a used 2020 model glc 220d amg pp..chinese. For some reason i cant adjust the time. The “choose time zone “ option isnt on the menu. And when i try to adjust it manually i can only adjust 60 min forward or back. Any suggestions ?

Oh that doesn’t sound right I’d suggest trying a system reset (a few menus down below the time and date). If that doesn’t work I’d recommend just contacting Mercedes, hopefully they’ll be able to help.

Really sorry I only started covering Mercedes on my channel in 2020 so have limited coverage on models before that. But if it’s a model with the rotary wheel to control the screen and has buttons Navi, Radio Media, Tel on the dashboard then you should be able to press the vehicle button underneath. Nudge / rock the wheel toward you and select I think it said system settings and reset will be at the bottom.

Ah nice! Sounds lovely! 🤓 No not at all, you’ll have to remove the car from the accounts and re-add back. The free Digital Extras for the car start from the moment of activation and are tied to the car chassis so they’ll continue running regardless to what you do with the profiles.

Just take your V5 document and proof of ID to Mercedes staff at a dealer and they’ll sort it for you. Usually no appointment needed.

Hi Nick. Love your videos. I have had 2 brand new A Class mercedes cars in succession (A200d 19 plate & A220d 21 plate) and both have had an issue with the heated seat switching off. The A200d problem was never resolved and I was constantly being told that it was a software issue which would be resolved on an update. I've booked the A220d in to be looked at next week but would like to ask if you are aware of any MBUX problems with regard to heated seats and also what you think I should do if the dealer tells me that its a software issue again? @@npoleary when you press the heated seats button all 3 lights come on and then 5 secs later all go off and the heated seat does not heat. Hard to believe it's a software issue when the drivers seat works but the passenger doesn't. And I can't believe that I am that unlucky to experience this twice in a row 😄
