A cheetah is a cat and they can run over 70 mph when they are after a tasty meal! My cat doesn't run, she simply gives me a command to feed her!

While the oldest domestic cat skeleton found to date was on Cyprus, this was definitely not the first domestic cat. Cats are not native to Cyprus, so cats would have to have been domesticated prior to this then transported to the island.

You are correct, humans did introduce cats to the island, even the Cretan wildcat was not originally native to the place. My reference was to the first or earliest historical findings of domesticated cats. This is definitely subject to change with future archeological findings. Thanks : )

@@ColonelAllen The difficulty here lies in the built-in ambiguities in the English language. You refer to the "first" or "earliest" findings, but that could be interpreted as the first found or the earliest found (which would be the same thing). Rather, it's better to refer to the "oldest" found to date, as that would reference specifically the age of the find, rather than the date it was discovered.

I wasn't much of a cat person until we got our cat, then he was my best friend for 15 years - really miss my cat. You are so right, cats are cool :)

:) only for a very short period of time. You are right about 3 am, my cat would race through the house at some of the weirdest hours of the night. thx
