@MonkeyHazard6 жыл бұрын
I don't agree, I played Just cause 3 extensively and it's DLC's as well as previous titles. While you do have the freedom to make amazing events (I think I played with the bridges alone in JC3 for 100 hours) it certainly gets repetitive in a lot of ways, there is still a limit in what you can do and what things you can do stuff to, especially in the way the game responds to things you do. 80% of the game is based on player creativity, and that's great, but the game itself is very shallow, that's fine for a time, as most of the game is up to you but the shallowness still lingers, especially in the late game.
@fartloudYT6 жыл бұрын
well not everyone has the imagination to play in various ways. look at stuff like DayZ (both the arma mod and standalone). how many people bought them because of the hype and how they were portrayed by their favorite streamers and youtubers? pretty sure, really damn a lot. news flash, not everyone has the creativity and friends to play like lets say SovietWomble and his friends. not to mention those are mostly highlight reels. for your average player those games are will have even less of those highlights. nothing wrong with that. its time to just stop hyping these games. are some of these actually empty boring games? yes. a creative person doesnt need such a game either. an actual sandbox in real life is more than enough. or are you going to tell me that its 'repetitive' when there are so many things you can do with sand?

Because compared to JC2 it was a huge step backwards for the series. I played 2: it had a huge open world with many different varying locations, such as a city with skyscrapers; a floating brothel a mile up into the sky; frozen mountains; a faraway island full of Japanese WW2 soldiers (that still think WW2 isn't over); etc, etc; very diverse missions unlike JC3, *stealth,* silly humor, over the top missions (even more than JC3), it never took itself seriously, and so on. I can't describe enough in a comment how bland JC3 felt compared to JC2 (and that's not mentioning the performance issues at launch). The only major improvements that stand out are the grapple that can be manually retracted, that you can attach it to helicopters, and the wingsuit. If you've played 2, you might know.

This is interesting and impressive, but it doesn't answer the key question about the story. Or perhaps the "story". I look at JC games from the perspective of JC2 - a game that had was very silly and hilariously over-the-top story and locations. That's the game where one of the missions sent you to an island filled with WW2 Japanese soldiers operating an anti-airplane super weapon. The game where one of the missions had you battle a nuclear submarine in a mountain lake that was frozen over. Where the dictator built a giant fortress with his own face on the side of a mountain. And where at the end you had to ride some ICBMs to disable them, almost Dr. Strangelove style. The dictator that also had female ninjas attack you at one point. That's why I played through JC2 several times. Not to mention the JC2 had a great variety of locations. Starting with a desert in the middle of which was an enormous cargo ship (Mad Max style), to a winter wonderland in the mountains, to jungles, to deserts of Africa, etc. Does JC4 have this? JC3 was a severe disappointment in those respects - after you took over a dozen towns, everything else was identical and the same. It also seemed to take itself very seriously - there were very few jokes, and it seemed very cliché, in a non-self aware way. As far as I know in JC3 there were no Russians that lowered an APC from a helicopter onto a sky scraper hotel, just to give you a boss battle.
@GreenSpartan1226 жыл бұрын

@RokushoTheRavager6 жыл бұрын
I can attest to this. I never expected the story to be JC3’s strong suit, but omg the missions you undertake are so absolutely piss poor that it’s insulting. JC2 actually had a great variety of different missions you could play with either side missions, Stronghold Takeovers, or Agent Missions, and while not all of them are enjoyable, they’re all very memorable whereas none of the ones in JC3 are. Not to mention they all pretty much played the exact same fucking way. Go here, help rebels, kill bad guys, protect your allies, just uninspired and boring as fuck. Then there’s the boss battle... dear god that’s one of the worst boss battles I’ve ever played. The setup is neat but the fight itself is just god awful. All that said I still found ways to enjoy the game, but it’s only fun if you can get creative otherwise it’s boring and forcing you to play challenges to unlock mods was a terrible idea.
@brendanspaulding79306 жыл бұрын
Ive played through the beginning chunk of the game and I can say that it's definitely more like jc2.tge you start off in the jungle and as you slowly progress around the map with your army you start to go to different biomes and areas that were sorely lacking in jc3.

I agree 100%. I only played a total of 4 or 5 story missions the whole time I've had JC3, because it's just so boring. Never got into the Just Cause series as I am a story gamer and this game series has little, but for just fun jump in blowing up stuff in a crazy manner this is one of the best franchise's in that genre. Glad you liked it and glad for the fans of the series it is still going strong. Thank you Karnak as always for the in depth quality reviews that are the best on you tube. An Thanks to your patrons which allow you to do this YOUR way and stay independent.

That's the thing that some people still don't realise (not you) - if you want a good story, you go play something else. The draw is never the story in this franchise. This is an all action B-movie made into a playable game. It's all about the fun and sandbox of "Here's a base. Destroy it anyway you like." It gets the creative destruction juices flowing. I like a good story based game too but sometimes you just want to sit back and let rip. This series fills that niche.

@@lwaves what people dont understand is that people like different things. Me, personally, my favorite movie director is Michael Bay and I dont think ive ever watched a full cutscene soo yeah. This game is right up my alley lol

@@ryanc2696 Oddly enough, I don't like movies like that, they aren't 'my thing' (with the exception of a few standouts) but I certainly get their appeal to others. Playing in that arena though is a whole other thing. I watch the JC cutscenes once, to get an idea of what I'm doing but skip them on repeat playthroughs. Anywho, my code has finally arrived so I'm off to install. Fingers crossed as there are a lot of people posting problems on Steam but then there always are.

Love video brother. 14:45 Curious thought though. Developers altering their game in the hopes of Streamers would play it. Or play it a certain way. Wonder how much impact that has on development, would like to think very little but who knows.

I'm not even really interested in the game, just came here to listen to your voice. Man you are pleasant to listen to! Fast, fluid and very versatile use of the english tongue. Also your style of reviewing is top tier, very informative. Keep up the good work!

From what ive seen they did make some changes, like if you pull the handbrake you can drift around corners a bit. Though outside of that physics are still very stiff.

Thank you for the great review, just have some questions, can anyone help me with these? 1. How is the vehicle handling when compare to the 3rd game, or simply what game have the most similar car handling that you can think of? 2. I hated the progression system(gear mod) in the last game. How is the skill or mods system in this game? Do you still have to do those annoying challenge with perfect score to comfortably unlock things? 3. I know JC is never a story heavy series, but does this game at the very least, have a story that one can follow and wont keep yawning at it? (just your personal feeling is ok) 4. Something minor that derive from Q2, do I still need to "unlock" aim down sight in this game? lol Thank you if anyone can help .

1. Vehicle handling I've heard is not perfect, but is far better (with improved drifting) 2. No idea, can't answer this one 3. Apparently the story takes itself less seriously and is followable. It has a good sense of humor and the missions can be boring, but at specific points really cool missions pop up 4. No. That was dumb, you can aim whenever you want now
@brendanspaulding79306 жыл бұрын
1)Driving is fun and definitely improved, its no gta v though or forza horizon 4 but its good. 2)There are no more dumb challenges needed to upgrade, instead random challenges are placed around the world that all add into your chaos meter that can already be filled by just blowing shit up anyways. 3) the beginning hour of the story is actually VERY promising, but it almost instantly devolves into your boring just cause plot with way too many characters. Its on par with jc2. 4)aim down sights is not only improved (uses left trigger) but its immediately available.

Gotta say Just Cause 4 is everything I wanted JC3 to be. But man base ps4 version looks ugly sometimes, I understand it's to prioritize performance which in this kind of game is paramount.
