Dave, we have a 2011 outback since new, limited 2.5i. Not one break down until about 153,000 miles, 12 years, the wire harness got a short. Since the, fuel pump, and all wearable parts replaced. I love the older mechanical switches for seats, etc. the new ones have a big display, and even to turn on the heated seats, you are very distracted, so no thanks. Glad you got a new ride. Any chance you’re making a camper out of it, lol. Happy trails

I’ve taken our Outback to the outer banks metal detecting on the beach. Very cool to drive a car out on the beach.

Changes are never a bad thing. Looking forward to see whats next for you. My buddies son recent got an older subaru forester. He was very intrigued about my camper. He loves camping and is thinking about tricking out his forester for weekend overlander camping and i think i.m going to give him a hand and see what we can come up with. Love 9.0.. i haven't really finished my interior of my camper. Would be nice to do something like you did inside yours but i need the sleeping space and thats what the back seat of my truck is for which is to store coolers and other things.. And it works. Glad your feeling better.. there seems to be a bug going on around where I work and i.m trying to avoid due to a surgery coming up soon.

Take your time to feel well first of all. Don’t worry, I never thought you should make 9 campers really, but it’s been amazing. Take a rest and spend time with family and do what you feel fun in future. Maybe the Van needs to go for a camp with the kids. Enjoy! You already helped so many. Rickard from 🇸🇪 Sweden🚐

Perfect lines and boy that would look good on my Powerboost with it's limited payload lol! I think you need to do some consulting with current truck camper OEMs and help them improve manufacturing quality as tied to design principles.

One of the things I enjoy the most is how you start a project with a vision. Then you share that vision with us. And then it serves as a foundational underpinning to each detailed and well thought out component...yet melding as a whole in an end product. So different than the drive through mentality we put ourselves in daily.

Great journey! Thank you for sharing! And get better soon! I thought we were here for a long haul truck camping;). Once you’ve mentioned the truck is gone I thought the guy must have tried a Subaru Forester or Mazda CX50 Meridian. Well it’s an Outback! Subarus are awesome pieces of engineering . They say Subarus are made by engineers for engineers. Just watch that CVT do not stress it out. I would not tow with it. It’s a Jatco famous for problems. Also I’d keep that oil level in check once in a while. Boxer engines are designed to burn some oil as normal operation. Oil tend to slash from head to head on winding roads😂. Just keep an eye and it will last forever. Much longer than F150. Sorry for being nosy.. if I may ask What went wrong with a truck? Early 3.5: Cam phasers, starched timing chain, tranny or internal water pump leak? Wish you all the best Sir in a 2025! And looking forward to your next video.

You clearly know your cars…. 55k and 10R80 showed early signs of the two most common problems. That was utterly unacceptable to me. Broke my heart. Add in potential cam phaser issues, etc. and it was untenable.

Dave, I’ve had a scratchy throat for 16 days. Hacking, coughing, etc. Hurt worse all over, finally getting better but it’s been a booger bear. All this despite, drinking 5 quarts of green juice made from kale, celery, carrots, cucumbers, apples, ginger and turmeric.

Have you ever considered building teardrop campers? Congratulations on the Subaru, we have the 24 Forester Wilderness package as well.

I considered teardrops, but also tiny tiny homes. Something really small, but looks like a miniature log home.

@@EndgameCampers we do, we were gonna go for the outback but we like the little extra room. Little overland trailers would be cool.

Yeah teardrops you can make crazy money building them and go really exotic on the woodwork. But I know you don't do this for the money

Wish you luck with your Subaru. Like you, we had a number of older Subarus and they were the best vehicles we ever owned - lived in Colorado at the time and they were the perfect vehicle. Bought a new 2022 Outback Wilderness expecting the same reliability, we were very disappointed with it, the quality was no longer there. Great driver and lots of good options but the reliability was no longer there. Maybe we just happened to buy a lemon. Finally just got rid of it. Related to health, I had something similar, it ended up being COVID, hope you checked for that. I was 3 - 4 months fully recovering. It just dragged me down. Good luck.
@EndgameCampers17 күн бұрын
Regarding COVID, I wondered about that. I have been researching long COVID… could be related. Thanks for your well wishes. Regarding the Subaru, that is very disappointing to hear. What specific problems did you have if you don’t mind sharing?

@dcjenner17 күн бұрын
Ya, I was finally diagnosed with long Covid. I’d had vaccines all along, nothing serious, just didn’t feel right. Regarding the Subaru, nothing serious mechanically, just a lot of minor shit relating to parts just falling apart on the inside, stuff that never would have happened . Quality control issues. The back hatch continually jammed. Problems with anything electronic. We love Subarus but it became just too much work. Maybe that’s just the state of quality in the world today. Like I said, maybe we just got a lemon. And it was worse because our old Subaru wagon was the best vehicle we ever owned.

I think you may have walking pneumonia; I had it for about a year. The doctor said I developed allergies, then he said I developed asthma. I ended up in emergency 11 months later and the doctor there immediately said I had pneumonia and was hospitalized for a few days. You need an anti biotic and prednisone. Don’t screw around with this. Get tested for pneumonia. I’m now inoculated against pneumonia because once you get it you are more susceptible. I get a pneumonia shot once every five years. When you get a flue it’s not a big deal until it turns into pneumonia and that’s why I don’t bother with flue shots because they are only guessing on what type of flue will be going around. Hope this helps.

I get it the fun is in the challenge and creativity, expanding skills, and just building a one of a kind unique vehicle. Building the same camper over and over is boring. Currently building a 6×9 large square drop out of doug fir, rough sawn cedar skinned with tin out of an old travel trailer frame. Hope u get felling better. All the best.
