Larsson's mentality and longevity are definitely a 10/10. To succeed through everything he was put through with racism, career-ending injuries, and not getting offers from big teams until his older age, takes so much mental/physical strength and determination.

He did get offers, Alex Ferguson tried to sign him several times when he was at Celtic which is common knowledge.."Ferguson made his first move for Larsson when Martin O’Neill was in charge and the Parkhead icon was at the peak of his prowess that ultimately would lead to him scoring 174 goals in 221 appearances over seven years before he left for Barcelona in 2004. Ferguson said: “I could have signed him earlier. I was ready to make the bid when he was at Celtic but Dermot Desmond, Celtic’s majority shareholder, rang me and said, ‘You’ve let me down, Alex, you’ve got tons of players, we need him.’”

Never seen anything like him, a striker who was completely selfless, when he wasn't scoring he was dragging players out of position to give space to Hartson and Sutton, Tremendous work rate and attitude, willing to side step bigger offers for the happiness of his family. Also think there's a lot to be said for if you're loved where you are and enjoying where you are in life and your form why move? seen too many instances of players getting big money moves only to disappoint and be totally out of place. We'll never see a player of his class and his loyalty back here. Think I cried for a week when he left.

One thing you forgot to mention in this video is that Barca is STILL looking for a replacement for Larsson, 15 years later. Just look at the names they have had - Ibrahimovic, Neymar, Suarez, Greizmann, David Villa etc - and none of them were able to replace what Larsson meant the team. That, and his loyalty to Celtic and Helsingborg, speaks more of what type of player he was then ANYTHING else. Even when he was 36 at United, United wanted to KEEP him at the club. They were going to offer Helsingborg a lot of money for a player of Larssons age (talks of about 7-8 million pounds, same as when Zlatan left for Ajax) but Larsson did not want to enter contract talks since he made the promise to Helsingborg to come back afterwards. Henrik Larsson is probably the most underrated player in the history of the game. Well, him and Lev Yashin.

Nice video, though it somehow overlooked his World Cup in '94 where Sweden won bronze. Even though it's "just" a bronze medal, it's the favourite sporting memory of many people in Sweden considering how popular football is and what an underdog Sweden was before the tournament. Larsson was mainly a sub (22 y.o. at the time) but played 5 out of the 7 matches, scoring in the bronze match and scoring his penalty in the quarterfinal penalty shootout against Romania.

As a Rangers supporter I can whole heartedly admit that Larrson was one of the best players along With Cooper, Laudrup, Van Hoojdonk, Di Canio, Tugay, Albertz and Gascoigne I have ever seen playing in the SPL.
