Hi Raymond, thanks for the very informative content! Could have please have the contact details for the soft shackles? Setting up a recovery kit for my Gen 3 Jimmy is next on the top of my list after getting radial cup protectors installed. Many thanks.

Hi Raymond. Do you have rated recovery points on your Jimbo or are you using the standard tie down loops for that purpose? I was looking at fitting rated recovery points but apparently it’s not possible with the standard bumpers. I’m not really keen on fitting steel bumpers because of the extra weight issue. Cheers! 🤙🏻😁

Hi Johan , I am still using the standard tie down points , but thats only for recovering myself and other Jimnies , does the Des Sol points not fit with the standard bumper?
@johanneswehrmann2 жыл бұрын
@@justjimny I had them fitted today and I think it’s the best alternative if you want to keep the stock bumpers and strengthen the tie down loops in case of a towing or recovery scenario. 🤙🏻😁

Hi Raymond. I’ve got a 5000kg rated kinetic snatch strap, but I was recommended that the soft shackles be rated a lot higher than the snatch strap. I’m a little confused. Do you you think the soft shackles should have the same load rating as the snatch strap?? Could I also please grab the link to where you purchased your soft shackles. Thank you.

Sorry forgot to mention the soft shackles are rated at 8tons.

Thanks Raymond. Great video as always. Sorry to hear about the accident! But glad you OK and Jimny is looking sharp again. Re: recovery kits, have you seen the Tough Dog kit? It’s not cheap but seems pretty comprehensive. Or would that be overkill for a Jimny? Cheers

Hi Matthew , the Tough Dog kit is a bit over kill for the Jimny , have a look at the Ironman kit availible from Tiger Wheel , they also opted for the plasma ropes , but no soft shackles unfortunately , I can give you the details of the guys that I sources the ropes and soft shackles from if you are interrested.

@@justjimny Thanks Raymond. Is the Ironman kit the Small recovery kit? Looks like it goes for R2,700 which seems reasonable.
@justjimny2 жыл бұрын
@@Futch79 yes , only thing on that kit it does not include the soft shackles.

I think you need to learn how a soft shackle works, the knot goes through the very end loop, and it pulls itself tight, the knot does NOT go through the bit you poked it though, The rope you showed is a winch line, ONLY use it on a winch, do not use it in any other situation! If you don't have a winch then use a proper Kinetic recovery rope! Never tug on a tow strap! but the Kinetic rope you showed, is for an ATV, it's not even big enough for a Side By Side!

Thanks for the comments , I specifically used these recovery items to show , that with the Jimny weighing half any other 4x4 vechiles does , you dont need a massive recovery strap to get it out of stuck situations , I am not saying recover bigger vechiles with it. I still think Jimnies should not recover bigger 4x4's unless you have a kinetic strap built for the Jimny's weight , I just know of 1 brand in ZA that has that , and it still takes up 1 whole ammo case. So with Jimny on Jimny recoveries and bigger 4x4 on Jimny why use 16ton straps?
