In this video I demonstrate how to play the song Just Like Paradise by David Lee Roth. This song was featured on the album Sky Scraper and contains a lot of great Steve Vai licks and riffs. I cover how to play the chords as well as intro guitar solo and main guitars solo, as well as provide some incite on how Steve played and how to come up with the right sound to emulate Steve Vai. I hope you enjoy the video. Please subscribe!

Probably my favorite Roth tune! Excellent lesson Marty! Thank you man! I played this regularly for my son when he was little, he always loved the tune. We were in a store and it played, he was about 6 and yelled DAD ITS DAVID LEE ROTH! Abunch of people looked, one guy said; you're raising your kid right! 😅😁🎸

Mint lesson. Thx as always Marty. Time to let the hair down, get the top down on the car and drive in the sun. Oh yeah, forgot, not much hair left, the roof doesn't come down and it's Winter. As Dave would say, That's Life 😀

@@Ranch5150SkinWalker An amazing guitar that sounded like a Stradivarius of guitars, with those pickups sounding like nothing else, like when you switch yours to the neck pickup. I couldn't mod it, I rarely played it, and had to sell it during the pandemic to pay off my extortion cell phone from verizon. My Mom died of the virus, and I had to save my house. I had to sell it for $2k cash to a lover of guitars. I'm just thankful it went to a good home. I miss it, and I must buy one back when I get the money. Those Ibanez are well worth the price. Looks like you got a great one. That's a beauty.

I was also pretty upset by the Van Halen breakup, but I guess I was lucky because I was also a huge Sammy fan before he joined. I loved the Eat ‘em and Smile album so I was good listening to it all. In later years I was dying for a VH reunion with Dave…but in the late 80’s and early 90’s I didn’t discriminate too much

You're welcome! I really got into the Roth solo records ... I kinda lost interest with a little ain't enough in general. But I was a Vai fan through and through so I was super pumped at that time. Oddly, when Vai was with Whitesnake, I never thought slip of the tongue was very good. And to this day I still don't care for it that much. lol.

I thought I knew the song in my mind and I couldn't hear it in my brain. then I went back to the video of dlr/vai, you got the total picture. The only thing I think you missed is this section Vai at :37 in ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoalcoV3nbRse7s ) He is playing tight cords like power station get it on (bang a gong) he has that really tight sound not like the rest of the guitar which you have in your preset, with a lot of reverb. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hWPZeZWOfpejas0

@Ranch5150SkinWalker 6 ай бұрын
Not sure I'd say he was worthless, but I understand. I really didn't care for his stuff later on down the line either ... music was changing in the 90's the music styles and what was popular with the youth was different. Roth went out of style. On a side note, I always felt Van Halen was able to stay current until Sammy left.

@Ranch5150SkinWalker
@Ranch5150SkinWalker 6 ай бұрын
In the studio Steve multi tracked a lot of guitars on these albums. My tone here emulates the sound on the lead parts. His rhythm guitars were fairly dry in order to keep the tightness of the parts. Sorry for not explaining this, I figured it was just kinda self explanatory. 🤷
