Fun fact, William Hartnell was so committed to the Doctor that he actually memorised the controls on the TARDIS. Every time he's fiddling with them, he's not doing it randomly. He had a function for them that he created in his mind, so the directors' didn't need to tell him which part of the console he should be working with. Ironically, Hartnell knew how the TARDIS worked better than his Doctor did.

Those words best summarize Doctor Who itself. it did all start out as a mild curiosity in a junkyard. and it has turned out to be quite the..quite the spirit of adventure. and we have Hartnell, Troughton, Verity and Lambert to thank.

I just noticed they actually walk from inside of the TARDIS to the outside in one shot (you can actually see a bit of the outside as they walk out), pretty impressive for 1964

Not really. The Tardis set is merely connected to the set of the Ship. Then they cut away to the Tardis exterior.

The Doctor...the first ever genre-savvy hero on TV...always ahead of the game, always knew the score, saw further than anyone else around him. He knew how to get the King to send him back to the TARDIS. Right from day one, he was the coolest of the lot.

Ian and Barbara will always have a special place in my heart. Our teacher in grade three (this would be about ten years ago) used to pull out the old television she kept in the storage cupboard and put on a new episode every lunch hour for us to watch. It never quite left me.

"Yes, it all started out as a mild curiosity in a junkyard, and now it's turned out to be quite a, quite a great spirit of adventure, don't you think?" It's almost like even then they are describing what Doctor Who has become over the past five decades. "Yes, it all started out as a television show simply created to fill in the time slot between Grand National Grandstand and Juke Box Jury. Now it's gone on to become the, become the world's longest-running science fiction television show that still continues running today, don't you think?" I'm sorry that I keep going on about Doctor Who's longevity in my comments. It is one of the reasons why I am a Whovian.

Easily the best TARDIS crew of Hartnell's era. Ian, Barbara and Vicki were pretty good too, as was just Steven and the Doctor. Don't really care for the other Hartnell crews, though. Ben and Polly I feel work better with Troughton. And I hate Dodo.

"Just the Unknown" is part of the joy of Classic Doctor Who. The Doctor had no real way of piloting the TARDIS, so we never knew when or where the ship was going to land. Anything could be behind those doors.

Actually, unless they have added them since the last I checked, there were only 9 or so episodes (and their various parts) arbitrarily grouped by episode and also arbitrairly tagged with different seasons. The way that Netflix has it ordered made me think the same. Try finding "Unearthly Child" and you would probably have no luck. But I would be very happy if I was wrong.
