Randy came to Nashville in the late 1980s and recorded album produced by Allen Reynolds, who had just made the first of about 20 Garth Brooks records. Randy had written a bunch of new songs but also reprised his best known hit with an updated feel. The record company folded soon after, and the new album got lost in the shuffle. Randy had great success as a country songwriter , but fell sick and died at an early age in 2004. Here is a video made for the 1990 album.

Songs like this floated through the air from unseen radios tuned to AM stations back in the '70's-'80's and lent beautiful ambience to any moment...driving, shopping, cleaning the house, doing homework, hanging at the pool, rollerskating at the rink, at the summer camp dance...I really do think we had it better than we knew back then...

Yes,and also when I stayed in hotels on Greek islands, I slept with the balcony-door open so I could hear the music from the bar under, it was beautiful soft music like this, and Lionel Richie's "hello" and all nice songs, I fell asleep to it every night. Now they don't play music, it's just awful loud noises and I sleep with the balconydoor shut and earplugs in my ears😥

You packed in the morning, I Stared out the window and I Struggled for something to say You left in the rain without closing the door I didn't stand in your way Now, I miss you more than I Missed you before and now Where I'll find comfort, God knows 'Cause you left me just when I needed you most Now, most every morning, I Stare out the window and I Think about where you might be I've written you letters that I'd like to send If you would just send one to me 'Cause I need you more than I Needed before and now Where I'll find comfort, God knows 'Cause you left me just when I needed you most (You left me just when I needed you most) You packed in the morning, I Stared out the window and I Struggled for something to say You left in the rain without closing the door I didn't stand in your way Now, I love you more than I Loved you before and now Where I'll find comfort, God knows 'Cause you left me just when I needed you most Oh yeah, you left me just when I needed you most You left me just when I needed you most

Wow, it's very rare to hear a male reply/express/confess a love regret and that makes you a Better Man Mr. McCorkle. I believe she was blessed to have you and forgave you long before she passed-away, she's in the greatest hands. 🤦🏻‍♀️Us females like to pretend and stay grumpy longer than males is all, trust me I should know, I'm 1/7 daughters. You don't have an angry ex, you have an angel watching over you forevermore. 🌹Randy Vanwarmer writes from the heart and soul and that's why I've loved this song my entire life. I read that Randy was inspired to write "You Left Me Just When I Needed You Most" after his car broke down on his way to work, I think that's pretty funny, but he was also going through a breakup. 💐I wish you all the best.

The only time I heard this song was in the 1981 movie, "Private Lessons". I got the soundtrack just for this song. The song fits perfectly in this boy's coming-of-age drama/fantasy. BTW, Earth Wind & Fire's "Fantasy" is there too. ❤ When I was old enough I got a job as a chauffeur w/o the black male plot. 🥴
